Teach Me How to Dougie
Eighteen
"YOOHOO, wake up kids!"
I heard Reilly's voice carry throughout the apartment and sat up, rubbing my eyes. Dougie and I had fallen asleep next to each other on the couch, slouched in our seats and cuddled up under a blanket. We were watching a movie, which was the perfect activity for a day as stormy as today. Dougie stirred slightly but didn't get up.
"Awwww, it's my favorite girl!"
Reilly threw his bag on the ground and walked over to the couch, climbing on top of me and gripping me in a hug. He was about as big as Dougie and was nearly smothering me.
"Ugh Dougie, you're roommate is hurting me."
I wiggled around laughing, trying to push Reilly onto the ground. Dougie sat up and helped push Reilly onto the ground, where he collapsed into a laughing mess.
"Jeez, chill with the PDA, guys" Dougie joked, helping Reilly off of the ground. They both walked into the kitchen.
"Oh yeah, you're one to talk." Reilly laughed. "You guys are gross."
I rolled my eyes. Dougie and I were not ones to be overly affectionate in front of others, not usually doing anything more than holding hands. But Reilly deserved some payback. I hopped off the couch and walked into the kitchen, slapping Dougie's ass and pulling him in for a quick, deep kiss that even caught him off guard. I could hear Reilly making fake puking noises in the background, as I smiled against Dougie's lips. When I pulled away, Dougie was blushing but had a smirk on his face.
I hopped up onto one of the stools at the counter, as Dougie and Reilly hung out on the other side of the counter. I looked at the clock on the wall and frowned, realizing I had to leave in a few minutes. I had a meeting for a class project that, unfortunately, I couldn't reschedule. It wouldn't have been a big deal normally, but the Bruins were about to venture off on a ten-day road trip. It would be the longest time Dougie and I had been apart since we had become started hanging out. I definitely wasn't looking forward to it.
Dougie noticed my expression and looked at the clock, too.
"Want me to walk you out?"
I nodded and grabbed my coat, reluctantly putting it on and heading to the door.
"Bye Smitty! Good luck in your games."
"Bye Chlo! I'll make sure your boy doesn't get into too much trouble."
Dougie and I walked to the elevator, our hands in eachothers' the whole time. As we rode in the elevator, I leaned my head against his arm, since I didn't quite reach his soldier. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, not wanting to say goodbye. The "ding" of the door alerted us that we had reached the lobby, so Dougie and I left the elevator and walked outside, to where my taxi was awaiting me.
Dougie wrapped me in a huge hug, burying his face in my hair. I wrapped my arms tight around his waist, closing my eyes tight in hopes that the tears I felt forming wouldn't escape. We pulled apart from each other and I realized that I had been unsuccessful, as I felt one escape and roll down my cheek. Dougie wiped it away quickly, lifting my chin up to look at him.
"Hey, don't cry. I'll be back before you know it. We can talk everyday."
"I know, I know. I'm being ridiculous. It's just ten days. I shouldn't be this upset."
"You're not being ridiculous. I'll miss you a lot, too. Let me know how you're project goes, okay?"
I nodded, a small smile making its way to my face.
"Score me a goal, huh?"
Dougie laughed.
"I'll try."
He leaned down and kissed me, as I stood on my tip toes. I wrapped my arms around his neck and he gripped my waist, as I deepened the kiss. We were rudely interrupted by the honk of a car horn, which I quickly realized was from the taxi that had been waiting for me. Dougie kissed my forehead quickly, smiling and walking back to the door of his building.
"I love you, Chloe." Dougie said as he reached the door.
"Love you, Dougie." I replied, walking to my taxi.
