Teach Me How to Dougie

Twenty-Four

I walked towards the front of the classroom, backpack on and test in hand. I handed my TA my final with a smile on my face and walked out the door, silently thanking God that I had (barely) survived my last final. I checked my phone as I zipped my coat, walking out the doors of the classroom and into the still quiet hall of the building. Dougie had texted me, telling me to call him after I finished. I did just that as I zipped my coat, hovering just inside the doors, because I knew my hands would freeze if I called him while walking in the cold.

"Chlo! You're done, right?"

"Yep! I am FREEEEE! What're you up to?"

"Just out on a walk before I head home to change for the game. You headed home now?"

"Not yet, I'm hiding from the cold for as long as possible."

"Well maybe you should just go for it."

"Uhh, okay... I guess", I responded hesitantly, pushing the door open and immediately feeling my hand freeze. I nearly dropped my phone when I saw I tall figure sitting on the bench on the sidewalk in front of the building. He had a baseball cap and a black jacket on, attempting to blend in with his surroundings. But I could see some ginger curls sneaking out from under the hat and couldn't help but grin like an idiot as I realized who it was.

I hung up my phone and shuffled as fast as I could down the stairs, because as much as I wanted to run over to him, I also didn't want to fall on the slippery surface. Dougie smiled and stood up, pulling me into a huge hug. He lifted me off my feet as I held onto his neck, gripping his close because I was happy to see him, but also because I was freezing.

Dougie put me down and leaned in for a quick kiss. We both looked around and saw a few stares, but brushed them off.

"What are you doing here?!"

"I told you I was going on a walk!"

I rolled my eyes, grabbing his hand and beginning to walk towards my apartment.

"Yeah, but I didn't think you'd go on a quick walk so far from your apartment."

"Okay, well, I also wanted to see you before the game tonight. And congratulate you on finals, of course."

"Aw, thank you! I'm happy to see you, too. My brain's mush after all the tests and papers this week."

"Well, maybe we could", Dougie lowered his voice as he leaned closer to my ear and continued speaking, "do something that doesn't involve talking."

I giggled and we kept walking.

"Well, what time do you need to head over to your place?"

Dougie looked at his phone and responded.

"Eh, only have like twenty minutes until I need to head back over."

I smiled and we picked up the pace.

"Perfect!"

When we reached my apartment, we both took our jackets and boots off and I walked over to my bed laying down against my pillows. Dougie followed suit, laying on top of me and instantly kissing my neck. He paid close attention with each kiss, sucking and nuzzling me, my eyes nearly rolling to the back of my head. I moved my legs apart slightly, allowing him to rest closer to me. Running my hands up and down his back, I couldn't take it anymore.

"Dougie, if you want to-", I couldn't speak for a moment as he kissed a particularly sensitive spot on my neck. "If you want to be on time to your game we're gonna have to stop." I giggled as his breath tickled my neck. "Because if you keep at this, I'm not letting you leave."

He planted one more kiss on my neck and pushed himself up on his elbows, leaning over me.

"Okay, I guess I should probably go." He looked at my neck and smirked, sitting upright and pulling me up as well. "You may want to wear a scarf, though."

I hopped off of the bed and scampered to the bathroom, pulling my hair out of the way and looking in the mirror. I could see a huge hickey forming on my neck.

"Dougie!" I heard him laugh as he grabbed his coat and met me at the bathroom door.

"Sorry, guess I got carried away."

"Don't ever apologize. Please, get carried away as much as you like. It's a good thing it's scarf weather, so at least I won't stick out like a sore thumb."

Dougie smiled and kissed me quickly. I walked him to the door.

"See you at the game. Good luck and check Doughty for me."

The B's were playing the Kings, my least favorite team. I couldn't wait to watch the game up against the glass.

"Will do, see ya then."
------------------------

I stood against the glass, shouting with the rest of the Garden. There was 1:30 left in the third period and the game was tied. It had been an ugly game, the one Bruins goal being a lucky tip in by Chara. My stomach was in knots as the clock counted down. I did NOT want the game to go into overtime. For my own sake as much as the team's.

My fists were clenched tightly as I pressed against the glass, as the clock reached thirty seconds. I nearly screamed at the top of my lungs when Pasta scored on a breakaway.

I rushed down to the locker room once the game was done and waited in the hall with the rest of the family members who had attended the game and a few fans who were waiting to meet Patrice Bergeron from his "Patrice's Pals" program. I had talked to a few wives and girlfriends before, and they were all super nice, some a little more outgoing than others. Dougie had mentioned me maybe sitting in the box with the rest of the wives and girlfriends once or twice, but he also knew that I loved to be right in the middle of the action. I was also kind of nervous to be around all of them, as nice as they were. Dougie and I had only been a couple for a few months, and as much as our relationship was strong, I didn't want to seem like the newby in town.

The locker room doors swung open and players started filing out. I saw Patrice walk over to the fans who were waiting patiently, greeting them with a smile and posing for pictures. Tuukka walked out and smiled and waved at me, heading down the other end of the hall to go home. I saw Pasta come out, smile on his face as always, made only brighter by his game winning goal.

"Pasta! The star of the game!"

He walked over to me and gave me a big hug before starting towards the door.

"Hey, do you know if Dougie's almost out?"

"Uh, trainer is looking at him. Doughty elbow him hard in the eye."

Dougie had held true to his word and roughed up Doughty a little bit as they skated by each other. I had seen some limbs flying, but it was too quick to register everything. They both kept skating as normal after.

"Oh, okay. Do you think he's okay?"

"Yeah, I think."

I nodded and waved goodbye, now slightly more anxious than before. I was relieved to see Dougie head out after, followed closely by Ryan and Reilly. He had a shiner and I could see a couple stitches underneath his right eye. My hands flew to my mouth as I gasped.

"Hey, I'm fine, no worries."

I stood on my toes and inspected Dougie's eye closely. Reilly nudged his arm.

"You should see the other guy."

I smiled and kissed Dougie on the cheek. The four of us walked down the hall towards the exit, headed towards the car that waited to take us back to Dougie's apartment. I had decided to stay over because Holly had already left for break and I didn't want to be alone. Besides, I only had a little over a day to spend with Dougie before I went home for a month. We wanted to make the most out of the next twenty-four hours or so.
