The best years of my life

Chapter 6

Sometime later
We had some time off, so Abby and I were going back home. At this point, our parents thought that we were dating. I mean, we practically were but we weren’t, if that makes sense. “Hey, are you and Abby dating?” Travis asked me. “Um, I’m not sure. We have gotten closer since she moved here. Is this why you called me?” I said back “Yes and no, I want to ask her out, but I know the rules. Tyler said that you guys are like an old married couple. ” He told me. “She said that she needs some time to move on from Tim, her last boyfriend” “How much time does she need?” he asked “I dunno, he proposed and I’ve been there before, she’ll move on” “Well find out and let me know” he said back hanging up. “Love, are you ready?” I heard her ask after she zipped up her bag and put it in the living room. “Yeah, just let me get my shoes on” “Good, I think the cab will be here in a few minutes” she said going into the kitchen and putting some aspirin in a bag “Are you okay? Will you be fine going to see the parents for the first time since Tim?” “I’m fine; my period should be starting during our trip hence the medicine. Not sure if that’s TMI for you. I’m just looking forward to moving on from him. Don’t get me wrong, I loved him but I didn’t love him enough to be spend the rest of my life with him” she said “The cab’s here” she said, trying to beat me to taking her bag “I can do that myself” she said “I know, babe, you’re my guest. Please let me do this” “Let’s go”. We breezed through the airport quickly, which has never happened to me ever. We were about half-way there and there was a bit of turbulence, out of habit, she held onto my hand and for the first time, I didn’t want her to let it go. “Sorry” she said once the turbulence was gone, looking away from me. “Don’t worry about it. It felt right” I said

Abby's POV
As I was packing to head back to BC, I heard Jamie on the phone with someone, but I couldn't hear who. It would be the first time that I would be headed back home since Tim and I broke up. The Benns and my parents thought that we were dating and to be honest, I wouldn't mind that. Once I thought he was done on the phone, I headed out to the living room. "Love, are you ready?" I asked "Yeah, just let me grab my shoes" he said. When I was in the kitchen, he saw me put some aspirin in a bag. "Are you okay? Will you be fine going back for the first time since you and Tim broke up?" he asked. "I’m fine; my period should be starting during our trip hence the medicine. Not sure if that’s TMI for you. I’m just looking forward to moving on from him. Don’t get me wrong, I loved him but I didn’t love him enough to be spend the rest of my life with him" When we were about halfway there, we hit some turbulence. I grabbed onto his hand, which I have done numerous times. But this time, it felt different. "Sorry" I said once the turbulence was gone and I looked at the carpet on the aisle of the plane "don't worry about it. It felt right" he said, which made me glad that I wasn't the only one who felt it.
