New Beginnings

Calling Home

Kirsten's POV
I am in the doorway of the locker room, and Jamie walks over. Instead of looking at him, I look at the floor, embarrassed that he knows about Ty and I. "Hey Kir, you know I don't think this is that big of a deal. I mean, it's not something recommend of course," He laughs, and I awkwardly laugh along too, "but it's no biggie. It doesn't change anything for your job or our friendship or anything."

"Glad to hear that me sleeping with your best friend doesn't change anything. But I thought you may think down on me or something." I say ashamedly.

"No! I kind of figured it would happen eventually. But do you want to hang out or something?" He asks me.

"Where? What are we gonna do? Are we going to invite anyone else?" I ask eagerly and get more excited, now that I know he isn't mad at me or anything like that.

"I don't know, something fun, definitely. What about the aquarium? And we can invite Tyler if you want." He suggests.

"Tyler can come, do you want me to invite Marie? Or Olivia? Actually Liv might have a job interview today..." I say.

"Yeah, I can text Marie. Go grab Tyler." He says, and I head back into the locker room. When I get in there, I see Tyler walking out of the shower with just a towel around his waist. I stare for a minute, admiring his defined abs, prominent v-line, and large muscular arms, that are decorated from shoulder to wrist. He barely glances at me, but I swear I can see a small smile on his face. He walks over to his stall, and I follow him over there. I don't stand too close, but I don't stand so far away that it's weird. He still has that small smile on his face, and he says, "What brings you here?" His voice is sexy, and husky, and turns me on a little.

"Can you not be sexual for five minutes? For real?" I tease him, laughing. I can hear his teammates laughing behind me, but I can't see them. "No, but I really came back in here to see if you want to go to the aquarium with us?" I invite him.

"Who is we?" He says while getting getting his clothes out.

"Jamie and me and maybe Marie. I'm not sure if Marie is working or not." I tell him.

"Okay, that sounds good, but maybe I should put on clothes first." He says with a coy smile on his face.

"Nah, you could just go like that." I say smirking at him. "I'm sure nobody else will mind."

"I think you would like thatway too much." he smirks back, and puts a hand on my waist.

I shrug his hand off my waist, "Get off me Tyler!" I laugh at his attempt to be smooth in front of his team.

"Oh come on, you know you like it." He winks at me.

"Oh my god could you be more subtle?" I say while backing away. Before anyone says another word, he drops the towel that was around his waist. "Tyler! What is wrong with you?" And I quickly cover my eyes.

"Nothing is wrong with me. You know you like it. Don't deny it." He says.

"This is why nobody likes you Tyler!" I say, backing further out of the room.

"You like me, don't you?" He asks, and I cant ell his voice is moving closer, and it sounds like he's right in front of me. My eyes are still covered.

"No, in fact, I don't! You're annoying, and seriously need to put some clothes on!" I laugh at him.

"I don't want to put clothes on." He has to be right up next to me.

"Why can't you just put on some clothes? I want to leave sometime soon, and you know I'll leave you here!" I shout.

"Yeah, I know you'd leave me here. And by the way I'm already dressed. You can open your eyes." And him being him, is standing there stark naked. I don't look long, and quickly cover my eyes again.

"Dammit Tyler! Put some pants on you little shit!" I shout at him and walk out of the locker room.

I can hear him shouting behind me, "You saw just now that it's not little!" And I hear the thud of the door. Even thought the door is closed I can hear the team laughing at what just happened, and so was I. I can hear them talking, and I wish I could hear what they are saying about Tyler and I. I walk down the hallway a little ways to where Jamie is sitting.

"Marie can come but she said Olivia isn't there. And Marie has to be back by 5 for work." Jamie tells me.

"Okay, sound good. Oh, and by the way, tell Tyler to not be so sexual! he is ridiculous! You should have seen him in the locker room! You should've reined him in, right?" I ask.

"No, probably not. He's funny around you. He's different. And he's funny when he's sexual too. And if he continues to be like this around you, I'm betting the rest of the team will figure out that you're sleeping together. So no, I will not be stopping him from doing that in the near future." Jamie says in a long winded, slightly serious response.

"Are you saying that you want them to find out?" I question him.

"Maybe. You have to admit, it'll be easier if you don't have to act weird around us. And just so you know, most of them assume that if you haven't slept together already, the it will happen soon." He tells me.

"Are you serious?! Why do they assume that?" I ask raising my voice a little.

"Because they know Tyler, and they know you." He says.

I interrupt, "So they just assume that I'll sleep with him without question? That I'm just a ho?"

"No! They know how convincing Tyler can be, and that it would make perfect sense for you two to sleep together."

"Oh, so they think I'm easy and can be convinced?" I ask, a little offended.

"No, but there is clearly something between you, so it just makes sense. Don't take it personally." Jamie tells me, and continues, "And neither of you are trying to hide it very much. But what happened in the locker room just now?" He asks, and I explain the story of what happened.

After I finish my story, he says, "That's great! And speak of the devil, here he comes!" Jamie laughs, and when Tyler gets close enough, Jamie reaches up to give Tyler a high-five. Tyler grins, and slaps his hand.

"Ugh,Tyler, you're an ass!" I groan, and get up from the bench. "Oh, and just so everyone is aware, I'm driving."

"Why are you driving? Your car is not even close to as nice." Tyler asks.

"Sorry I can't afford a custom Jeep, but I want to drive, and I need to learn my way around still ." I counter, and walk towards the door.

"Okay then..." Jamie says, and him and Tyler follow. I take my Michigan State lanyard from around my neck and push open the main doors. We walk out to my car, and I unlock it. We get seated, and Tyler automatically gets in the passenger seat, and Jamie right behind him. As soon as I start the car, my phone rings. I look, and see that it's my mom. I put it on speaker and answer.

"Hey mom! What are you calling for?" I ask.

"I'm just calling to say hi and see how Dallas is." She says.

"Dallas is great. And I have really good news mom!"

"Have you gotten over your pouty phase and found yourself a boyfriend?" I pull out of the parking lot.

"Wow thanks mom. And you're on speaker phone by the way. And no, I don't have a boyfriend. But I did get a job, which I think is even better than a boyfriend."

"So a job is going to marry you and treat you like the Queen you are for the rest of your life?" She asks.

"No mom, but it will provide for me, and get over the boyfriend thing. But I'm one of the athletic trainers for the fucking Dallas Stars mom!" I say excitedly.

"Don't cuss! It's unladylike. But congratulations! I'm so happy for you honey. And who am I on speaker with?"

"Thanks mom, but I'm a grown up now. And you're on speaker with Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn. No biggie."

"Glad to hear you're making friends, and didn't you have a crush on that Tyler guy when he played over in Plymouth?"

"Mom, thank you so much for that. Glad I got to talk to you so you could reveal embarrassing secrets about my high school years. Remember when you left me in a train stop in Italy? Because I do! I was 12, and you forgot me!" I hear Tyler and Jamie laughing quietly next to me as I drive along.

"There is no need to bring that up you hateful thing!" She says, but it's my mother, and we have that type of relationship. She can call me hateful and mean, but I just tell her the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

"Well, thanks for bringing up the Plymouth thing. It's not like he's right here next to me laughing his ass off or anything."

"Anything for you honey! But I really am glad you got the job. And I'm sorry I brought up the boyfriend thing. I get it. Garret and Brendan cheated on you. You don't exactly have the best track record."

"Mom. You're still on speaker. And yes, I know that I can sure pick em, but thanks for only bringing up Brendan once." I thank her.

"Well, just as a heads up, your brother may bring him up more." She warns me.

"I know. I seriously think he was more in love with Brendan than I was." I tell her, only somewhat jokingly.

"Do you want to talk to your brother?" She offers, and I pull up to my apartment building.

"Not really, but I will." I say, and mute myself for a moment. "Jamie, go get her."

"No way, your mom is hilarious. I'll text her." He says, and I unmute my phone.

My teenage brother is on the phone. "Hey sis. How's life in the big D?" He laughs at his own joke.

"Glad to see you haven't changed since I left. But it's good. How's life up in TC? And how's hockey going? You never called to tell me if you made the team or not." I question him.

"Woah, chill. Life is good. I made the high school team. We won the last three games, and only lost our first one." He informs me.

"Good. I'm glad to hear it." I say truthfully, as I see Marie walking out the door. She gets in.

"Am I on speaker phone? And thanks." He asks me.

"Yeah actually you are. Wanna know who I'm hanging out with?" I ask, pulling away from my building and heading towards the aquarium.

"MAybe. It depends. Is it a Red Wings player named Brendan Smith?" He asks. Asshole.

"No, as a matter of fact it's not. And it's not ever going to be again. Why can't you just deal. Sorry me dating an NHL player had it's perks for you, but you're not the one that has to live with him. I'm not going back." I say, trying to get it through to him.

"Whatever. Who are you hanging out with then?" He asks, sounding really curious.

"You'd be really jealous. I know it." I taunt him.

"Who is it?"

"Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn. And I happen to work for the Dallas Stars now. So if you could just shut the fuck up about Brendan that would be awesome." I say.

"Sorry. I really liked him though. And you're lying. You don't work for the Stars, and why would Seguin hang out with you? Didn't you have a crush on him when he played for Plymouth?" He says.

"You're an asshole! And yes, I did think he was cute, but did you really have to bring that up? Mom did too. And yes I do work for the Stars, why would I lie about that? And why wouldn't Tyler hang out with me?" I ask.

"I don't know, you're you. And he's him. And congrats on the job then. If it's true." That little shit had an attitude.

Then Tyler speaks up. "So, even though she is her, and I am me, I'm still here. No need to have a terrible attitude." I smile at Tyler, and Brandon doesn't say anything for a little.

"Yeah. I know you didn't believe me, but it's true." I say.

"I believe you now. How is it that you get all the NHL players? Seriously? Do you just have sex with them all?" He accuses me.

"Oh Brandon, you're being an asshole, do you know that? Who cares who I sleep with, I'm an adult! And no, I'm not dating Tyler. I work with him. That's it." I try to convince him.

"KK, you can't lie to me. I think it's great for you if you can get all the ro hockey players you want. Good for you. But maybe this time you should find one that won't cheat on you."

"Okay. Thanks for that advice you little shit. I love you, but I have to go. Bye Bran." I say and hang up. "Well, that was my family. I know, they're fantastic, right? My 15 year old brother is a bag of dicks, and neither of them can get over the fact that I didn't try and stay with Brendan. They freaking loved him. My brother especially. My brother is a defenseman, and he really looked up to him. They know that I shouldn't stay with him because he's a cheater,, but they can't see past the professional hockey player thing. So that's the same conversation I get pretty much every time I call home. Consistently. It's great, I know." When I finish, all three of them bust out laughing so hard they start crying. "Oh you guys are terrible!" I say, and hit Tyler and Jamie because I can reach them.

"Your brother sounded like a real treat." Tyler says, tears still streaming down his face.

"Yeah, he just got that way recently. Being a teenager can do that to you." I say, and get to the exit for the aquarium.

"Kir, your family is awesome! Can we call them later?" Jamie says, still laughing too.

"No! And I just hope you guys aren't around if my dad calls." I say, and find a parking spot. "Now get out of my car!" I say jokingly, and get out. I grab my bag and keys, and go towards the entrance. Well, as much fun as that was, it would be nice to just hang out with my friends for a little while.

Notes

Sorry it's taken so long, but like I said, I'm getting busy. It may take even longer for the next one, just please be patient, I have volleyball, and family to deal with for real. And just so you know, my mom really did leave me at a train station in Italy when I was 12. For real. Just please be patient with the chapters. I'm trying here!
