Talking Bodies

Chapter 17

“Hey Jamie I just let the studio.” I texted Jamie as I walked to my car. It was a sunny day and thankfully it wasn’t too cold for it being the beginning of January. I just reached my car as my phone dinged in my hand.
“So you on your way over?” – Jamie’s reply was quick so I knew he must have been waiting for my message. Which really didn’t surprise me because it’s been 2 days since are first official date and Jamie and I have been trying to hang out again but between his schedule and mine it just wasn’t working out very well.
“Yea, I’ll be over in about a half hour. You hungry?” I replied as I unlock my door and slipped into the driver’s seat and I barely had time to close the door behind before my phone ding again.
“Always” – Jamie
I laughed as I slipped my bag into the passenger seat. “Okay, stupid question. You like Chinese?” I slipped my keys into the ignition and rolled down my windows. Not surprised when my phone dinged in my lap just as I got the windows hit the bottom.
“Orange chicken please” – Jamie
“You got it. See you in a little bit.” I replied as I turned up my radio, put the car in park and made my way to my apartment.

“I have come baring gifts,” I yelled as I open the door to Jamie’s house, to go bags in hand.
“You are amazing,” Jamie greeted as he walked into the entryway from the living room.
“I know,” I beamed as Jamie leaned in, placed a soft kiss to my lips and slipped the bags out of my hand.
“So shall we?” A devilish grin covered his face as he walked into the kitchen and I followed him.
We sat at the counter as we ate and informed each other about the last two days that we haven’t seen each other which seemed a little tedious to me considering we’ve been texting for the last two days, but seeing the smile that lite up Jamie’s face made it worth it. After we finished our meals we retreated to Jamie’s couch where we ended up just flipping through the channels and somehow Jamie thought it was a good idea to give me the remote. I flipped thought a couple of channels pausing on a couple chick flicks that I knew Jamie wouldn’t agree to and a few stupid shows that I had no intention of actually watching.
“So this is what you do for a living?” I pointed to the T.V. were a bunch of guys on skates with sticks in hand chased god know what on ice that I really did pause.
“Sure is,” Jamie confirmed from his spot next to me.
I nodded as I laid the remote on the coffee table and snuggled into Jamie’s side.
“We really don’t have to watch this you know.” He said as he ran his hand down my arm and took my hand in his.
“I know,” I assured him. “But I should probably learn a little bit about the sport that you play, right, plus this looks like it might be interesting.” I told him as a guy got plastered into the far boards.
“Oh, it is,” Jamie assured me as he relaxed into the couch.

“So what just happened?”My eyebrows pulled together as I watched a guy in a white jersey chase down the puck and the ref blow the whistle. It was now the second period and I still didn’t know much of what was going on, but I found that I quite enjoyed this.
“An icing.”
“And what exactly is an icing again?” I asked Jamie for possibly the third time tonight.
“That’s when the defensive team shoots the puck…
“To the other end of the ice.” I finished his sentence for him. I guess I was catching on slowly.
“Yes.”
“Okay.” I took a deep breath as the players lined up for what Jamie informed me was the face – off, which happens after every whistle. “So will I ever get to go to one of your games?”
“Well would you like to come to one of my games?”
“Hell yea,” I turned to him with a smile. “I mean this looks like it would be awesome in person.”
“It is,” Jamie nodded his head with a smile. “So does that mean I get to go to one of your dance concerts?”
“First, it’s called a recital,” I told Jamie as I adjusted my hips on the couch to look at him, “and second, I don’t actually dance, but if you want to see little girls dance to songs I choreographed then be my guest.”
“I would love to see dances that you choreographed.”
“Well our next recital is not for a couple of months but I will let you know.” I smiled as I turned back to the T.V. as the red team scored. “So who do we want to win again?”
“The Panthers.”
“The red team?” I asked as I watched the red team bump gloves with the guys on the bench.
“No, the white team.”
“Well then damn,” I sighed as the refs went across the ice and slipped on a pair of headphones and looked at the tiny tablet he held. “Wait, now what’s going on?”
“A coach’s challenge.” Jamie explained with a laugh.
“Don’t laugh at me Jamie Benn, this is intense stuff.”
“I know.”
“So what’s a coach’s challenge?”
“Well the Panther, the white team, is challenging that one of the guys on the Blackhawks, the team that scored, was offsides.”
“Offsides?”
“The offensive team was over the line before the puck.” Jamie explained. “Here,” he pointed to the T.V. “See how number 88 on the red team has both skates over the line before the puck crossed.”
“Yea,” I nodded as they showed the reply. “So you can’t have both skates over the line before the puck.”
“Correct. You can have one skate, but not both.”
“Okay.” I took a deep breath as I let all this sink in. I watched the game for another 5 minutes before two guys shoved each other a bit and then dropped their gloves. “Are they allowed to do that?” I asked Jamie as the guy in the red jersey punched the guy in the white jersey.
“Yes, we’re allowed to fight.”
“That’s awesome.” I beamed not able to pull my eyes away from the screen until the red guy took the white got to the ice and the refs pounced on them. “Have you ever gotten into a fight?”
“I’ve gotten into a few.”
I smiled as I glanced at Jamie out of the corner of my eye. “Is that where that black eye came from last month?”
“Yep.”
“That’s pretty hot,” I turned to him as I pulled my bottom lip between my teeth not able to hide how extremely turned on the thought of Jamie in a fight made me.
“Is it,” Jamie grinned as he leaned in.
“Tremendously,” I swallowed just before Jamie’s lips covered mine, all thoughts of the game not important anymore.

I think Beth should go with Tyler. I mean Jamie is great and all but Beth and Tyler have feelings for each for other and I think they make a cuter couple.
