A Fresh Start and a New Flame

Waiting Game

Gabriella's POV

It's Tuesday night which means it's been four days since I met Drew. He still hasn't texted me which was slightly annoying. I mean why I ask for a girl's number if you don't have any intention of calling or texting her. I chewed my pen and opened a new tab on my gold macbook air. James Arthur's voice seduced me through the speakers, his voice is like heaven in my ears.

"Any word from your beautiful blonde giant yet?" Beth gushed.

"Yeah! Has he texted you yet?! I tried to creep him but it's ridiculously hard to do that when I don't have a last name to go on Gabbs..." Taylor chimed in.

"Not yet, whatever though. My dad was right I need to stay away from boys. However he did manage to take my mind off Lucas." I murmured.

Drew's POV

I'm still deciding if I should text Gabriella yet. She was gorgeous and she had a kind of fire and sass about her that drew me in, I wanted to get to know her more. The only problem was she hated hockey players and I had no clue why.. I didn't want to ruin anything by telling her I played for the flames and that I was the guy in the photos on my phone. I wonder if maybe she got to know me before I dropped the hockey bomb on her that maybe it would change her mind on hockey players.

"Dude just text her already. You've been looking over her number so much I swear you have it memorized and know it off by heart. It's getting depressing seeing you like this. " Sean uttered.

"Shut up Monahan. She hates hockey players but I'm deciding if it's worth a shot anyway." I replied.

"She can't hate hockey players! Nobody hates hockey players, it's impossible... If you're a Canadian and you hate hockey there is something wrong with you. She'd love me if she met me! I mean you're great to Shorezie" Sean ranted

"Could your ego get any bigger Sean?." I mumbled.

I decided to text her. What's the worst that could happen?
Gabriella's POV

*Buzz Buzz*

"Oh my gosh. Could it be?" Bethany hummed and looked at Taylor.

"Loverboy??" Beth and Taylor sang.

"Hey Gabriella, it's Drew from Saturday night. I spilt my beer on you (I still feel really bad about that by the way) anyway sorry it took so long to text you, I've had a lot going on! I was wondering if you'd be interested in going out sometime. - Drew"

I smiled to myself as I handed my phone off to my two best friends to have their opinions on the message.

"I wish a super hot, tall stud would spill his beer on me if it ended up in me getting asked out" Bethany purred.

"Yes. Say yes Gabbs. I mean it took him long enough but please please go out with him!" Taylor pleaded.

"Hi Drew, no worries. I didn't even notice how long it'd been.. I've been so busy with studying and whatnot. I'm sure we could get together one of these days. P.S I thought we agreed on just calling me Gabby!" I typed.

*Buzz Buzz*

"I never agreed on that ;) Plus if everyone calls you Gabby I want to be different. So what about Thursday night at 6:30? I'll pick you! - Drew"

"Sounds good! I'm done class at 4:25 so it'll give me time to get ready :) See you Thursday Drew." I pressed sent

A few minutes later my phone went off again.

*Buzz Buzz*

"See you Thursday Gabriella :)"

Drew's POV

Okay now I'm nervous. My date with Gabriella is two days away but I need to figure out where to take her where people won't recognize me.

I thought about it for a few minutes and finally came up with a place. Theres a very nice restaurant close by her school where I knew the owner and could pull some strings that nobody would mention that they knew me up.

I called up Josh the owner of the restaurant and filled him in on the situation and made reservations for 6:30.

"Okay Sean I did it, we're going out on Thursday." I called to him from the living room.

"Atta boy Shorezie. How exactly are you going to keep the fact you play for the flames under wraps though.. Everybody in the city knows us!" Sean shouted back from the kitchen.

"I'm already one step ahead of you buddy." I replied feeling very confident about my plan.
