It might be the way that you're always staring at me If I stay or if I go and risk everything

I like her ‘cause she’s smart, headstrong and independent, She puts me in my place

Flashback to Maggie's move in day

"It just hit me that I have a new address. And I'm not ready for it" Maggie said to Tom as they were packing up the Ryan's SUV. "You're ready for this, honey. You are the smartest person I know, but you put me in place, which Grandpa says I need. I wanted to help you move in, but I have training camp. Here" he said as he handed her a present, a framed picture of the two of them before their last prom of her putting on his buttionare and one of his sweaters. "Tommy, I love it" she said as she started crying "I didn't mean to make you cry. Promise me that you'll remember me and I'm always a phone call away to punch anyone, like always" "I know, Tom. I want you to promise me that you won't forget me" "Love, how could I possibly forget you?" he said as his placed a kiss on her forehead and closed her door, which her dad saw. "Sir, I tried really hard not to make her cry this time" "I know, but she's pretty emotional today. She's lucky to have a guy like you" her dad said and shook Tom's hand and left the garage. "Maggie, I love you" he said after they left.
Maggie's POV
"Hey Tom, have you ever thought that we were meant to meet at some point? Like the Universe knew that we were meant to be together during our lives?" I asked him. "Sometimes" he said ''I was thinking that if we weren't engaged that we would have had terrible relationships, because you ruined me for other men back in high school. I think I would have ended up with a lawyer and you a model or someone way prettier than me and we wouldn't have been happy and at some point, we would have ended up together. Love, you are the best thing to ever happen to me." I told him as I was hanging some of my work clothes up into the closet and changing into some lounge clothes. "Baby, you are beautiful and I'm supposed to say that you're the best thing to happen to me. One of us has her degree from University of Toronto and I get to say that my fiance went and finished to the best University. I got lucky to be where I am now. If I applied there, they would laugh at my application and kick me out of Toronto. I agree with us not being happy, but you would have probably ended up with a doctor. Anyway you always had a piece of me and will always have a piece of me. I'm insanely lucky that you didn't really date in University. I though none of the guys that you brought home was worth you, which is why I totally bastardize dinners and interrogations with your dad and Pete." "When you two are done telling each other how much you love each other, the movie's ready" Latts shouted "I have a new rule I wanna add to the apartment" I said "What is it?" Tom and Latts asked "When we watch a sad movie, you have to put on mascara so we know that you cried" I said and Tom started laughing "She's evil" Latts said as he went into the kitchen to get some pink thing that has been in the freezer since I moved in. I think they got it when they went to Scary Gary a few months ago. And Tom and I took our usual place on the couch and Mike started throwing popcorn at Tom, as he usually does when we watch a movie.

And Latts shouted something and we went into the living room to watch a movie. It was his turn to choose the movie this time and he chose 'Castaway'. 45 minutes into it, Maggie fell asleep on my shoulder and I didn't think anything of it, since that's how she sleeps every night. "Y'all suck" Latts said and dumped the bowl of popcorn onto us when the movie was over. I carried her to bed and then went to go brush my teeth. As I pulled the blankets over her, I said "I'm lucky that none of your University boyfriends didn't end with you marrying him. I don't know what I would do if that happened." I have no idea if she heard me and frankly, I don't care.
