Benn There, Done That

"Wow, sick outfit, Cor." I looked down at my sweatpants and long-sleeved black shirt, which I had topped off with the ever-glamorous glasses and messy bun combo.
"Thanks, Ty. I see you've decided to stay alone tonight! Bye-" He stopped me from closing the door by narrowly wedging himself inside, just as it shut.
"Just kidding, you look lovely as always." I rolled my eyes and sarcastically blew him a kiss. A soft knock sounded on the door.
"Uh, guys? You gonna let me in?" Tyler wrenched the door open and I couldn't help but laugh as I saw Jamie standing with a few pizza boxes in his hands, as well as a case of Coors. I grabbed the beer and he stepped inside, heading to the kitchen and setting down our feast.
"Why are you designated pack-mule tonight, Jame?" We joined Jamie in the kitchen, where he was already digging into one of the pizzas. Tyler hopped onto the counter and answered.
"One of the newbies checked me into the boards today. Doc says it's nothing serious, but he doesn't want me over-exerting myself." He accentuated his words by rubbing his arm, as if it were really sore.
"Yeah, and you're also an ass." Tyler winked at me as I grabbed myself a beer and a piece of pizza, laughing in agreement with Jamie.
When I had moved to Dallas, I really didn't have any expectations other than that I was going to have to adjust to the hot weather and add "y'all" into my everyday vocabulary. I definitely didn't expect to run into two of Dallas' superstars, which is exactly what happened when I got home from the grocery store my first night in town. I lived in a duplex, and hadn't even met my neighbor yet when I found those two goofballs appeared.
I was struggling with my bags as I tried to find my keys. It was hot as fuck out, so I had on a tank top with a sports bra and a pair of Nike shorts. With minimal pocket space, I had put my keys in my sports bra, so retrieving them involved setting my bags down and doing some digging.
"JESSE OPEN UP!"
"Ty, I told you she's not home. SHE told you she's not home. She's at her sister's tonight."
"Whyyyy?"
The loud male voices coming from the other side of the porch startled me, causing me to drop my keys. One of the tall figures standing at my neighbor's door turned to me and approached. He bent down and got my keys for me, holding them out in my direction.
"Sorry about my friend. He's a little drunk and a lot horny. Here, let me help you bring your stuff in to make up for his... antics."
"Oh, thank you that's sweet. And don't worry about your friend." Just as I said that, the aforementioned friend nearly fell on his face as he walked over towards us. "Actually, on second thought." We both laughed and I gave my guest a few of my bags, unlocking my door and flicking on the lights. I had managed to unpack most of my stuff, with only a box or two remaining in my bedroom.
Drunk guy stumbled inside and leaned against the wall, a sleepy smile on his face.
"Oh, shit, you're Tyler Seguin." He nodded and winked at me, but in reality he closed both of his eyes.
"The one and only. You want me to sign your boobs?" I blushed and Jamie covered his eyes, after setting down my bags.
"Jesus Christ, Tyler. Just shut up." He looked at me apologetically and stuck out his hand. "Hi, I'm Jamie. It's nice to meet you..."
"Cory. And it's nice to meet you, too. Thanks again-"
"Come on, Captain, let's gooooo." A lightbulb went off in my head.
"Oh, wait, Jamie... Jamie Benn?" A smile spread across his face and he answered in a mocking tone.
"The one and only."
"Sorry, I recognized Tyler because I'm from Boston. I-"
"Ay, fuck Boston." Jamie groaned and started towards Tyler.
"No worries. I better take this one home. It was nice to meet you Cory! Maybe we'll run into you again, when we're all safely below the legal BAC." I smiled and waved goodbye as Jamie supported Tyler and they headed out the door.
We did meet again, numerous times. The first after our little drunk adventure was the next morning, actually. When I found a sleepy and sorry looking Tyler standing at my door with a bouquet of flowers and anxious smile on his face. He apologized for his behavior and we ended up talking for a while. I became pretty close with my neighbor, Jesse, who I later found out had an on-and-off “friends with benefits/fuck buddies/relationship” situation going on with Ty. Since then, we’ve all become super close and, honestly, I don’t think I would have lasted in Dallas up until this point without them. I didn’t understand how to people could put away so much pizza. They each had one to themselves, and it hadn’t even been an hour since they’d arrived. I was on my second piece and was about to call it quits.
“Hey, I think I’m gonna have some people over tomorrow night to hangout and watch the game. You guys wanna come?”
“You don’t need to invite me. I’d just show up anyway.” Jamie nodded, raising his eyebrows in agreement.
“Yeah, of course! I’ll throw on my Patriots shirt and pretend to give a shit.” I was a fan by regional association, not by actually caring about the spt.
“NICE!” Tyler and I high-fived and Jamie rolled his eyes.
“Okay, wear whatever. Just bring something and show up, eh, like a half hour before the game starts?” I nodded and made a mental note to pick up some chips at the store tomorrow morning.
“I just texted Jesse and she’s down, too.” I clapped my hands together and smiled.
“Okay, sounds good. I don’t want this to be too big. Jordie’s gonna bring his girlfriend and then a few of the other guys are gonna come with some people.”
“Don’t leak it to the press. Got it.”
