Another Day in Nashville

Chapter 11-

I woke up on my couch with a horrible headache. I saw the empty bottle of wine and empty bag of candy on the floor. "What the fuck happened..." I mumbled grabbing my phone from the floor.

I unlocked it and saw I was on my message screen. "Oh shit..." I gasped

Emilee- Talk to me...
Emilee- please James?
Emilee- fine fuck you then. Just fuck everything, James. You wanted to fucking talk and I'm giving you the chance.
Emilee- I'm sorry. I didn't mean that. I just don't know what I want anymore, James...
James- emilee...I kno you'll prolly b asleep when u get this but if u rly want 2 tlk txt me & I'll call after practice

I had drunk texted him. Even worse, I'd drunk called him as well and who knows what I had said then. I sighed. I was conflicted. I did want to talk to him, but at the same time, I didn't...

Also, he probably thought I was crazy after that set of messages. I sighed and got a nice hot bath started, pouring some bubbles in. I figured it would probably be best to talk with James, but I needed to clear my head first. So I txt'd Him

Emilee- James. I'm sorry about last night...I do want to talk. But not over the phone? Can you come over around 3?
James- it's okay. And yeah I can do that. I'll see you at 3.

I turned on some Adele and got into the tub, relaxing under the warm water. I had no clue what I was going to say to James or what he'd say back...

Maybe it was best we just remained friends until we both sorted our lives out. Or maybe it was best we didn't talk at all...I cringed at that thought. That was the last thing I wanted.

James was sweet and kind and funny. Despite the fact that he not only played me, but another girl he'd been with for a couple years. But looking back on our conversation, he seemed to really regret what he'd done. Maybe he regretted getting caught, I don't know.

Then again, it felt like Josh all over again. I mean the situations were totally different. I was "the other woman" in this case. But both had lied to me. But with the situation with James, he seemed different about it.

3 o'clock came quicker than I expected. I put on a hoodie and my pair of yoga pants, throwing my hair in a bun. The sound of James' Ferrari was instantly recognizable. I heard him kill the engine and then knock on the door. "Hey."

"Hey." He half smiled, adjusting his baseball cap. "Can I come in? Or are you gunna make me stand outside while we talk?"

"Come in..." I said before taking a deep breath

"I'm sorry." We both said

"Why are you sorry?" James asked his brow furrowing in confusion

"Because I acted like a psycho bitch."

"That's not true..."

"Yes, it is, James. I was mad at you and I didn't really give you a chance to explain yourself. I was just so hurt and confused..."

"Because I was a shitty person. You don't have to be sorry...I shouldn't have lied. I should have told you exactly what happened with Melanie." He cleared his throat "I should have been honest about the sleeping around in Pittsburgh to begin with, but that's part of my past and I'm not proud of it...so I wasn't sure how to tell you. I mean I like you a lot, Emilee...I just wanted to impress you and not chase you away." He sighed looking down "but I guess I did that anyways."

"James, if you had chased me away, we wouldn't be sitting here right now. I'm sorry too...its just after Josh, I've had zero trust with guys."

"Don't be sorry."

"James...can we start this over?"

James smiled hugging me "of course."

I held him back "thanks, James."

"No problem. I gotta get home though...my sister is coming and I gotta get my place ready before I pick her up from the airport."

"Okay." I replied

"I'll text you?"

I nodded hugging him again as he left. A fresh start was exactly what we needed.
