Chapter 11

Present Day

Christmas Eve.

Jamie was kicking himself for pushing Christmas shopping so late.

Usually he was on top of it and done by now.

He just couldn't find the right thing to get Emily for Christmas. Everyone else was done, he just had to wrap and thankfully he got the girls to spend the full day at the spa.

Why did she have to be so hard to shop for? He got her a new pair of earrings, a Chanel purse and VIP tickets to Miranda Lambert in March.

Walking past the Cartier store it clicked. She's always wanted a Cartier watch or bracelet. One for Christmas, one for her birthday shortly after.

Walking out of Cartier with a small wrapped gift bag containing a very expensive watch and a very expensive bracelet he paraded home proud of himself. If losing to the leafs last night did a number to his ego but buying his girlfriend very lavish gifts to show Behar that he didn't need to be extremely educated or in an extreme amount of debt helped boost it.

If only that pain in his hip would go away.

Emily sat in the lounge waiting for her next treatment at Rosewood Crescent. She definitely needed a professional massage, Jamie was always to gentle when she asked for a back rub.
Having Jess and Jenny sit down beside her they did the same thing. Sink into the incredibly comfy couches.

"God I needed that." Jenny sighed.

"Your telling me." Jess groaned.

"I didn't want to wake up. My back is going to be one giant sore muscle tomorrow." Emily stretched.

"Those earrings are pretty." Jess noticed the white gold studs with tiny round emeralds in her ears.

"Oh these? Jamie got them for me last year for Christmas." Emily grinned, "because they're pretty much victory green."

"He would." Jenny laughed.

"His hips been bugging him again hey?" Heather asked as she came in from her massage.

"Yeah, it has been. He got checked really hard in Edmonton the other night." Emily frowned, she hated seeing Jamie hurt, "it's probably going to need surgery."

"Have fun convincing him he needs it." Jenny stated.

Emily rolled her eyes, "Tell me about it. I'll talk to him about it after Christmas because it'll just cause an argument."

"How do you think the boys are getting dinner ready?" Behar asked, taking a sip of tea.

"Dad and Steve are probably supervising, no idea how the others are holding down the fort." Jenny laughed.

"Thank God I have a gourmet kitchen the size of a small country for everyone to keep their space." Emily laughed.

"Is your boyfriend making that hummus again?" Behar asked Emily in Farsi.

"Probably not for Christmas dinner. That was good yeah?" Emily responded back in Arab, she had been teaching Jess Farsi and she had picked up on it quickly.

"I was impressed. You know I do love him. I'm just not happy about you two living in sin." Behar spoke again in Arab.

"There was no point in renewing my lease or his lease and he wanted to buy a house. We'll probably be married by the end of next summer." Emily groaned, pinching the bridge to her nose.

"As long as there are no babies before then. And I just worry, after that rough patch last year." Behar deadpanned as the therapist came in and called Emily's name for her facial.

"And there will probably be more rough patches to come. We're a lot alike and it's how we grow." Emily stated, then switching to English "enjoy your next treatment ladies."

Arriving home a few hours later she was exhausted, and having a Christmas Eve dinner didn't help either, collapsing on her bed she felt Jamie's hand on her back.

"Did you have a good day getting pampered?" He asked her, kissing her shoulder.

"Yes. I'm exhausted, my shoulders needed it." She murmured into the comforter.

"Good. Think you'll be crashing early tonight?" He asked her as a wave of nausea came over her.

Making a beeline for the bathroom she made it just in time to heave up her dinner into the toilet.
She did have cold sweats all day, and now it really hit her. She didn't want to be sick on Christmas. She felt Jamie's hand on her back again, and the other one holding her hair back out of the way.

Crawling back against the wall after everything was out of her system Jamie instinctively got her a glass of water.

"You feelin okay?" He asked, sitting down beside her, wrapping an arm around her shoulder, pulling her into his side.

"I've been kinda nauseous all day. Dinner didn't help." She whined.

"Why didn't you say anything?"

"Cause it wasn't bad. I took some pepto and I was good to go." She sighed.

"Do you think?" He grinned down at her.

"No. Nope. Not at all. I have to ovulate first. Nice try mister." She rolled her eyes at him.

"I think we should just have a baby already." He coiled a lock of hair around his finger.

"I think we should wait until we get married and a few years down the road." She looked up into his brown eyes, the smile never leaving them.

"Pretty please?" He kissed her neck.

"Nope. And I love how I was just puking my brains out two minutes ago and now you want to have sex with me." She giggled, his facial hair tickling her neck.

"I love you even if you are puking your brains out."

"I would hope so." She groaned as another wave of nausea hit her.

She felt Jamie resume his role as back rubber and held her hair back again as she leaned over the toilet.

"I'll go get you some gravol, just get it all out of your system now." He said quietly, kissing the back of her head.

"The drowsy stuff please." She croaked out.

Once the second round was out of her she slowly got up and made her way to the closet, finding one of Jamie's hoodie and a pair of sweatpants she crawled underneath the cushy duvet and curled up into a ball.

She was about to doze off when Jamie's big hand gave her a light shake.

"I got you some gravol and you can fall back to sleep." He said quietly, giving her a kiss on the cheek.

"Okay, thanks babe." She smiled, sitting up.

Taking the pill she gave Jamie a quick kiss on the cheek before laying back down, curling into a ball again.

"Merry Christmas love." He whispered into her ear, kissing the back of her head.

"Merry Christmas babe." She whispered as he made himself comfortable behind her.
