Chapter 8

May 2013

Jamie came down at the arrivals section at the Pierre Elliot Trudeau International Airport, spotting Emily instantly.

She had her long brown hair back off her face and her denim shorts showed her long tan legs well, including the bruises from rugby. Her beautiful smile wide across her beautiful face.
Once off the escalator she ran and jumped on him.

"I missed you!" She exclaimed, wrapping her legs around his waist.

He laughed as she kissed him, "I missed you too."

He embraced her for a few more minutes, with a stupid grin on his face.

"How was your flight?" She asked as he put her down.

He pulled her into his side, "Long. Screaming babies in first class and my phone died. Sans music."

"Screaming babies are the worst. Let's go get your bags and get you to the house."

She lead him to the luggage carousel, waiting just a few minutes before the bags started rolling out.

"Your parents aren't at your place are they?" He asked as they got into what he was assuming was her dads Acadia.

"No they're at a hotel. No room thank fuck. You and I have it all to ourselves."

He grinned as he placed his hand on the back of her neck, "Oh this shall be fun then. Should we bone before or after I meet them?"

"Really Jamie? Ugh what do you do to me? Do you realize how hot it is here?" She whined, but giving off a slight grin.

"It is actually really hot. It wasn't this hot in Kelowna even and it gets really hot there."

"Welcome to Montreal. Just wait till we get to my parents, it's even hotter but at least then we're not to far from the beach and we have a boat."

"Wake boarding?"

"You know it. And fishin. I can't wait for you to meet all of my friends."

"All of them?" He held onto the holy shit bar as she sped through Montreal traffic, weaving in and out of cars, she had the need for speed.

She took a quick glance at him, smiling. "Most of them. There's a big bon fire next weekend at Colton's place. Its right along the river and it's in the middle of bum fuck nowhere. You'll love it."

"I'm sure I will. How was your game Saturday?" He moved his hand from her hair to her thigh, tracing an outline of a bruise.

"Great! We won, laid out a couple of solid hits and I even got a few tries."

Jamie shook his head as she talked about the game. How dirty the London team was and how some girl made a dive and knocked herself out as Emily had just gently pushed her out of the way.

Pulling up in front of a townhouse she lead him up the stairs, opening the door to a well decorated home.

Jamie stepped into the living room in awe, for being a small townhouse it was immaculately decorated.

"You like?" She asked, tossing her keys onto the counter.

"It's gorgeous. I thought you said it was a dump hole?" He lifted her up onto the counter, standing between her legs.

"We renovated it while I was in Dallas. It's going to be an income property now. But it was a dump hole." She smiled as he leaned in to kiss her.

"Speaking of homes, did you find a place yet in Dally?"

"Yeah! Just a place in the same building as where I was before. One bedroom, I move in at the end of August."

"This upcoming seasons going to be great."

"Do you wanna celly this upcoming season then?" Her eyes turned dark as she pulled him closer by his shorts pocket.

"What kind of question is that? Where's your bedroom?" He laughed as he pressed his face into her neck.

"Upstairs, last door on the left." She explained as he grabbed her by the hips and flipped her over his shoulder, "JAMIE!" She laughed.

Emily and Jamie walked hand in hand down Rue Peel. Walking a little bit quicker then what they normally would.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder they say.

Absence makes her hornier.

Jamie looked so good getting off the plane, he had slimmed down a bit since she had seen him at the end of April and his hair had grown a little bit longer again. She could have boned him right then and there in the airport, he looked that good.

Spotting her parents on the patio at Restaurante Cavalli she tugged on Jamie's hand, pulling him into the restaurant.

"Sorry we're late. Mom, Dad, this is Jamie. Jamie, these are my parents, Behar and Shawn." Emily announced as they got to the table.

Behar got up as Jamie gave her a hug, "It's so nice to finally meet you Jamie, we've heard so much about you from Emily Rainia."

"Good things I hope." Jamie blushed, shaking Shawn's hand.

"She calls you a pain in the ass sometimes but I think she loves ya. But just letting you know she is my little girl." Shawn let Jamie know as they sat down across from her parents.

Emily met Jamie's eyes as he draped an arm across the back of her chair, "so I'm a pain in the ass eh?" He laughed.

She giggled, "Only sometimes. My dad speaks the truth."

"I'm sorry we couldn't meet earlier when you two were in Texas. The shortened season made for a crazy four months and a half months." She felt his finger wrap a lock of hair around it.

"It's a shame that you didn't make the playoffs." Behar said sympathetically.

"It is what it is," Jamie shrugged, "I have a good feeling about next season though. We're undergoing a lot of changes in the organization over the summer. Going to try to maybe get a few good players added to the team, switch things up."

The dinner went well. Her parents seemed to like him.

Jamie was walking up ahead with her dad as she fell behind with her mom.

"I told you he's a sweetheart." Emily smiled, tying her black maxi skirt so it wouldn't drag on the pavement.

"He's still not a doctor or a lawyer or a pilot." Behar said quietly.

Emily shook her head. "No, he's not. But if your worried about if he won't be able to support me when we're older he makes more at 23 then what most of those guys see in a lifetime."

"But what happens when he stops playing?"

"He'll have more then enough to live comfortably when he retires. And he'll probably get some other kind of job related to hockey after. And I'll be working too as long as I can."

"I just want what's best for you. He is a nice boy, very handsome, but you need a man that will take care of you."

"I don't need someone to take care of me. I take care of myself but it's nice having someone that cares so much about me. He makes me happy. I'm only 22 for crying out loud." She sighed.

"You need to start thinking about settling down and starting a family."

"You were 30 when you married Dad and had me. And you know I don't even want kids. And I see all my high school friends with their kids and they're miserable."

"You'll change your mind about kids. And what if he gets traded?"

"Well his contract is five years, I think there's a no trade clause in it. But, after those five years and he happens to get traded then I'll go with him. But he loves Dallas and Dallas is his home."

"Being serious about a hockey player is a bold move. You know how notorious they are for being immature heart breakers. Look at PK."

"PK is just immature and is one of my closest friends since the Bulls days, we never dated Mom."

Emily let out a groan of frustration as she watched Jamie and her dad laugh.

"Nice to see those two having fun." Emily grumbled.

Locking the door to her townhouse she let out a noise of frustration as she threw her keys and purse on the front entrance table, Jamie giving her a funny look.

"My dad loves you." Emily grinned, kicking her sandals off.

Jamie shook his head and sighed with a small smile. "Your mother terrifies me."

"It's cause you're not a doctor, lawyer or a pilot. She'll warm up to you."

"Why is she so set on professions like that? Especially when she wants you to be a lawyer?"

"So I'm financially stable for the rest of my life. It's a weird Persian thing. She likes you, she just wants what's best for me and she's not to fond of your profession."

"Fair enough. I'd probably be saying the same thing if my daughter was dating a bum like me too." He laughed, pulling her down on the couch with him.

"Yeah but your my bum. That I could cuddle with all day long. I love you."

"I love you too. What do you say we cuddle and try to find some english programming and find a movie."

"I am fine with that. I'm gonna go change, make some popcorn and some of that Franks seasoning that's really good."

He let out a laugh as she got up from the couch, running upstairs.

It was her favourite thing to do with Jamie besides for having sex with him, just cuddling and watching movies. Especially on nights where they had a big day the next day, like her upcoming convocation tomorrow afternoon.
