Im in Love with a Broad Street Bully

“So how was Wednesday night?” I was immediately asked by Dani as I sat down at our table for lunch. “Jesus can I sit down before we start with the interview.” I retorted letting out a laugh as I sat in the seat. “No you can’t we want to know how it was. Did you kiss him? Sleep with him come on give the details!” Dani cried as she leaned on Mikes arm pouting at me.
“How do you put up with this?” I asked jokingly to Mike who shrugged laughing as Dani whacked his arm. “For your information it was nice we sat in my living room listening to music just talking.” I said taking my fork stabbing my salad before eating it. Dani looked at me with a raised eyebrow “Bull theres something you’re not telling us,” she detected “What happened between you two?” she questioned.
“Maybe Max doesn’t want to tell you how she slept with Sean, Dani.” Mike said out of nowhere making me almost spit out my food. “Uh no absolutely not we didn’t do that at all. Im just not a girl who kisses and tells.” I complied with a shrug before washing my mouth out with water.
“You kissed him?!” Dani exclaimed slamming her hands on the table gaining looks from around us. “Yeah, but it wasn’t anything serious just on the cheek nothing more nothing less.” I answered leaning back in my chair checking my phone to see if he had texted me then put it away with a sigh. “I also made sure to get his number.” I chirped looking back up to the two in front of me.
“Just the cheek Maxine? Wow scandalous!” Mike joked flipping his hand towards me, cause the three of us to laugh. “But good for you getting his number. Have you been talking to him?” he asked with a smile on his face. “Yeah are you gonna see him again?!” Dani asked leaning on the table with her head resting on her hands.
“No I haven’t talked to him.” I said shrinking down into my chair.
“WHAT!? Why not?!” They both yelled at the same time.
“I’ve been waiting for the right time but then I think maybe I’d be interrupting him or that it’d bother him.” I confessed laying my head on the table. Dani and Mike both looked at each other than me.
“Honey he’d be stupid to pass up a girl like you.” Dani comforted scooting her chair over towards me placing a hand on my back. “Yeah and maybe he’s doing the same thing you are overthinking it, worse that could happen is that he could tell you to go away” He soothed till the end when both me and Dani looked at him with a ‘not helping’ facial expression plastered on our faces “But, he wouldn’t because youre amazing and hes probably nervous like you so text him.” He recovered placing a hand on my own patting it.
I nodded sitting up taking my phone back out of my phone back out of my coat pocket pulling up a message “What do I even say? Hey its me I was wondering why you never texted me?” I asked looking at the two. “No. Less force just ease into it like ‘hey its Max whats up?’ plain and simple remember this is a guy that were talking about less detail is better for their small brains.” Dani commented winking at me as Mike scoffed in offense.
Maxie: Hey its Maxine whats up?
Coots: Hey just got back from practice, what are you up to?
“Oh she’s smiling must be a good thing.” Mike commented eating his pasta winking at Dani and me.
“Shut up.” I commented typing on my phone.
Maxie: Just grabbing lunch with Mike and Dani before my last class then Im done for the week.
Coots: Nice! So I was wondering if you wanted to come to over to my place this weekend I can make you dinner and we could watch a movie?
Coots: Also sorry for not messaging you sooner I was just nervous.
Maxie: Uh yeah sure! But it can’t be Saturday I got my nephews over most of the day and it’s a game night for you so we’ll be watching. It’s no biggie to be honest I was nervous too.
Coots: Awesome! Uh okay I’ll text you later then and let you get back to your lunch. And I’ll make sure to play extra hard then.
I put my phone down eating the rest of my lunch, looking up I saw Dani and Mike staring at each other like that was it for them “Okay so if you two are just gonna sit here all day Im gonna head to my next class.” I mention as I put my coat back on and gather my stuff as I walk away I can hear Dani yelling for me to wait. As I slow down I wait for her so we can go to our class “So are you two ever going to just take the plunge and date?” I ask as we walk out into the frigid cold air. Dani shrugs “We kinda did already, but not officially we both know we like each other but he wants to wait for the right moment.” She said air quoting ‘right moment’ I laughed as we made it to the building.
“So you were pretty quiet for most of lunch how did things with Sean go?” She asked as we walked into the lecture hall taking our seats. “It was good! We’re actually doing dinner and a movie at his on Sunday. He was also nervous about contacting me.” I said sitting down booting up my laptop. “We told you that’s what was probably happening and awesome make sure you shave.” She commented laughing pulling up her own laptop.
“Dani! Its not going to lead to that its just dinner between two people that are both interested in each other.” I said pulling up my word document and statistics from the games that had been on the TV. “Yeah and Netflix and chill means exactly that, just make sure you shave your legs at least.” She commented as others start to walk into the classroom.
As professor Melvin wrapped up her lecture we all started to gather our things “Sometimes I really hate this class. She could have been done three hours ago.” I mumble as we walk out of the hall. Dani nods as we walk to our cars “I’ll text you later I have to head home clean and everything for the boys and get the dogs taken care off.” I say as I slide into my car heading back to my apartment.
-Time Skip-
I woke to the sound of my phone ringing “Hello?” I asked in a groggy voice. “Good morning to you to sunshine listen I have to drop the boys off a little earlier than planned, is that okay” I heard the voice of Erin, my sister in law, ask through the receiver “Its just Harry had to go handle a dog that swallowed a set of keys so he left early this morning, and I just need to get out of this house before I explode.” She moaned into the phone
Sitting up I rubbed my face “Erin calm down its not good for the baby, and at this point I’d be careful saying anything to do with a pop motion being nine months and all.” I laughed hoping to cheer her up.
“Why do have the same sense of humor as your brother, don’t I get it enough from him?” she questioned.
I laughed walking towards my bathroom I started the shower “Well we are siblings Er, except my jokes are funnier. But yes come on over just give me a couple minutes to shower and get dressed and the dogs taken care of.” I replied after hanging up I jumped in the shower jumping out I ran out to the kitchen in my towel putting food and water into their bowls walking back I saw the dogs start their walk towards their food.
Getting back into my room I pulled out a pair of jeans my flyers sweater and black underwear set and fuzzy socks throwing everything on I walked back to my bathroom throwing my hair into a braid before grabbing my phone and walking back into the kitchen to eat something. As I sat there eating my cereal my phone started to ring without looking at who it was I answered it “Hey Erin, did you forget your key or something?” I asked getting up putting my bowl into the sink. “Well I don’t know who Erin is, but as far as I know I don’t have a key to your place.” I hear Seans coming through the phone hearing someone knock on my door.
Getting over towards my door I shook my head with smile “Oh shit Im sorry Sean, I thought you were my sister in law.” I apologized opening the door I saw Em and my nephews smiling I let them in “Its okay just thought I call to see if you were still up for tomorrow night?” he asked.
Closing the door, I nodded my head “Yeah we’re still on for tomorrow why would I back out?” I retorted walking over to the tv turning it on putting on Doctor McStuffins “I don’t know maybe you changed your mind about me.” He answered. Shaking my head walking into the kitchen “Well for your information Mr. Couturier I am still very much interested in our dinner and movie tomorrow, but right now I have some kids that want time with their aunt.” I answered with a smile on my face.
“Alright well then I’ll let you go remember to watch the game Im scoring one for you.” He said laughing a bit as he hung up.
“So who is Mr. Couturier?” Erin asked leaning against the island smirking at me. I moved my head side to side “Uh well you know Sean Couturier? That’s who Mr. Couturier is, yeah and long story short I met him at Starbucks a couple days ago and then met him again at the game me and my friends went to then he came here we talked, I have his number and were having dinner at his house tomorrow and watching a movie.” I rattled off to her blushing at the end.
Nodding Erin took the information in “That’s awesome, you are one lucky girl! But please be safe.” She said looking at me with a serious expression “I just don’t want you to get hurt he’s an athlete and from what I’ve read their sometimes hard to date. With them and their schedules its hard to see each other.” She continued.
I nodded “Yeah I know trust me I’ve done my research, remember I had that paper I did about sports and family relationships I interviewed an actual wag for that one.” I responded shrugging my shoulders. “So hows my little nugget?” I asked smiling changing the subject nodding towards her bulging stomach raising my eyebrows.
She laughed rubbing her stomach “Well your nugget is doing great. Shes healthy and exactly on time unlike the two hockey players out there. Harry is so excited about her coming, he just finished the nursery and he really out did himself told me Darcy needs to have the best because shes the princess.” She gushed shaking her head sitting down on a chair.
“Darcy, You let him pick Darcy?” I asked laughing remember an argument about baby names and how adamant she was about naming her after her mother. “I thought you wanted to name her after your mom?” I questioned again sitting with her.
“Don’t get me started Harry was very adamant about his Darcy being Darcy, telling me that he didn’t want his daughter being made fun of because of her name. I personally see nothing wrong with Eleonora.” She said picking at her painted nails.
I made a face “Unless you want people calling her El for the rest of her life and/or her changing her name or making her call you by a different name, yeah that would be the perfect name, but you could always make it her middle name Darcy Eleonora Walker.” I resorted with a hopeful smile to see if that made her feel better.
She nodded smiling “Darcy Eleonora, Darcy Eleonora… Maxie you are a genius!” she exclaim pulling my hand towards her stomach.
“Well yeah I know but what else is new… why am I touching your stomach?” I asked confused. Erin shushed me as my hand laid there “Just feel... Darcy Eleonora.” She said in a soft voice after about five seconds I felt a kick against my hand “She agrees that’s her name thank you.” She gushed looking at her phone “Ive got to go back home Harry’s on his way back. I’ll see you guys tomorrow. Oh and remember to shave, you never know what could happen!” she said laughing as she hugged me then kissed her sons on their heads before walking out.
“Why does everyone keep telling me that?” I asked myself closing the door behind her then I turned towards my nephews “Well boys we’re alone now you know what this means right?” I asked walking back to see two heads whip around “GAME NIGHT!” I jumped laughing as two voices screeched at me. I nodded “Alright you both have your jerseys right?” I asked clapping my hands together being answered with nods of heads. “Okay! Put em on and we can head to the diner!” I order smiling. “Aunt Maxie is Aunt Dani going to the game tonight?” Finn asked pulling his hoodie on over his hoodie like his brother.
I shook my head “No its just us this time kiddo.” I answer seeing Finn sigh pulling his shoes on next to his brother at the door. “Lets go guys!” I cheer as we walk out “WAIT!” Jamie yells I turn around shocked “What bud did you forget something?” I ask kneeling him down to his “the puppies.” He simply states running back into the apartment. I shake my head walking back in with Finn as Jamie lead the dogs back to their room “Bye guys see you later!” he called to them petting them before closing the door and walking back “Okay now we can go.” He looked up at me with a smile on his face.
-time skip-
“Come on Aunt Maxie! I wanna see them warm up!” I heard in stereo as my nephews ran into the building with me closely behind. As we got down to our seats we put our things down I snapped a picture of the back of the boy’s jersey, one in a Giroux the other in a Voracek. Smiling I sent it to my brother. “Here they come Aunt Maxie!” Jamie cheered standing in front of his seat along with his brother. As the team skated out I stood with them making sure to take pictures.
As we watched them warm up the boys would bang on the glass hoping to get a players attention. As I saw Sean skate by I leaned forward next to Jamie and whacked the glass “Hey Coots! Come on Coots!” I laughed looking at the kids banging again this time getting his attention. He looked over his shoulder shaking his head with a hint of a smile “You think we could score some pucks Coots?” I yelled over the music. I saw him nod before flinging one of the glass then another. As the game went on the boys and I had a blast booing when appropriate and cheering the same.
With the game coming to a close we gathered our stuff and started to head out when I felt my phone vibrate pulling it out I saw it was from Sean telling me to come down with the boys. Shaking my head I stopped the boys “Okay do you guys want to have the coolest experience tonight?” I ask kneeling in front of them as I pull us to the side against the wall, receiving nods I grabbed their hands and walked as we approached the door I looked down at the boys “Now you both have to be on your best behavior okay?” I asked smiling down at them. “Aunt Maxie what are we doing here this is where the players go in and sometimes come out.” Jamie asked I nodded looking at the guard at the door “Can you tell Coots a lady is out here for him?” I whispered to him watching him nod he turned opening the door seeing a flash of orange the man nodded “Come on miss.” He stated opening the door letting me and the boys in.
As we walked I saw Sean standing there still in uniform “Well kids heres the surprise meet Sean Couturier.” I said stepping away taking pictures of their face as they greeted one of their heroes.
