Tyler Seguin One-Shots

A Thundering Exploration

“Let’s tell each other ghost stories.”
“No, we did that last time.”
“How about some truth or dare?”
“That’ll be boring.”
“Build forts?”
“Only if you build and then clean it up after.”
You pouted as your eyes held onto those irritatingly beautiful brown eyes in a staring match. It wasn’t really a staring match, because when you turned around and grumpily sat on the couch, crossing your arms childishly, you didn’t hear him tease you about winning that match. Then again, he was in a less-than-playful mood at the moment.
“This is the third day in a row that there’s aggressive thunder and lightning. What do you want me to do, Y/N?”
“Be fun!” you exclaimed, sitting up and looking over at your boyfriend with wide eyes. “You think you’re the only one tortured by this endless rain? I’m bored as hell being stuck in your apartment for the past three days! I swear to hell, you make me this close to swimming home, Mr. Grumpy Pants.”
Tyler just sighed and dropped the back of his head onto the couch. “I’m sorry that I’m frustrated that tonight’s game had been cancelled due to this stupid weather.”
You huffed and looked away, clenching the couch cushions. “You’re just sick of me,” you grumbled under your breath, staring at the floor.
Even though you and Tyler had already reached the one-year mark with your relationship, you still couldn’t help but to feel worried since Tyler was notorious for dumping girls by the six-month mark. Sure, most people would feel safe and secure with the fact that you made it six months longer than the other girls, but then again, if he were to dump you any time soon, it would only be more painful.
And, from what you heard, one of the telling sign that he was about to dump you was boredom.
Even though his boredom only appeared now after being stuck in the same place for over forty-eight hours, you couldn’t help but to feel paranoid…
You blinked. Once. Twice.
Everything was dark.
You’re fucking kidding me,” Tyler groaned from the same spot as before, but you couldn’t see him.
Suddenly, the dark room was filled with light as Tyler looked around the room with the flashlight from his iPhone. He stood up and walked away, soon leaving you alone in the darkness.
Your lower lip quivered while you pulled your legs to your chest and laid back into the couch in fetal position. You’ve never seen such darkness and it was bothering – not scary, just bothering.
Before you knew it, the room began lighting up and you noticed the shadow dancing around the room until the room was fairly lit with candles and Tyler stood in front of you.
You lifted your head and thanked heavens that, even though you wanted to, you weren’t crying. Especially when he sat on the edge of the couch and brushed his knuckles against your cheek.
“Wanna do something?” he asked softly.
You blinked in surprise. “But –”
“I was dampening the mood and now you’re upset,” he interjected. “Let’s go explore the building. What do you say?”
You smiled and found him smiling, just as brightly and genuinely, back. You sat up and was instantly pulled up to your feet, his hand comfortably wrapping around yours. “What is with the sudden change in mood?”
He pecked your lips and shrugged. “I’m bored and wanna do something interesting. Exploring is more interesting than the crap you listed.”
“Then let’s get going,” you chimed, grabbing one of the candles and hurrying out of the apartment.
Tyler chuckled behind you, snatching a candle and quickly dropping your hand to close the door after you both stepped outside. “Scared of ghosts?” he whispered creepily, slipping his hand into yours again, but all you did was laugh and clash shoulders with him.
“This is how you find entertainment; by scaring me?”
“I’ll be the one you jump to for comfort.”
You rolled your eyes and dropped his hand when you caught sight of the staircase. “C’mon. Let’s see how far up we can go before getting caught,” you whispered.
“I like what boredom makes us do,” Tyler chimed, a mischievous gleam in his eyes. This was definitely more comforting than what you thought of he would do as a result of boredom.
You blinked and found yourself running behind Tyler, hand-in-hand, up the stairs. You giggled as you whizzed past the corners and both of you barreled through the door that stood in your part.
Your laughter was quickly interrupted when you stood there, completely soaked in the rain.
Ty!” you screeched as he only burst into louder, more obnoxious laughter. The candles was extinguished in seconds and the only light came from the sky, especially when lightning struck everywhere around you.
“I guess this is how far we could go,” Tyler teased, wrapping his arms around your waist and twirling you around, “without getting caught.”
*
Achoo!” You rubbed your nose and dryly laughed, bunching the blankets closer around you. “Maybe that wasn’t our smartest idea.”
Tyler laughed, setting the mugs of tea onto the coffee table and sitting next to you. He immediately slipped into your blanket and shrugged another one around the two of you. “I dunno. I thought it was fun.”
“I hate making sure you have fun,” you grunted, instinctively curling into his arms.
All he did was wrap his arms around your newly dried and warm body, almost pulling you onto his lap. “You worry too much, Y/N. I told you before and I’m gonna tell you now: I love you. Trust me, those six-month chicks have never even heard me tell them that I liked them.”
Your face reddened and you hid it in his neck. You couldn’t believe he knew what you were so worried about. “Shut up,” you murmured.
“I mean, unless you want me to –”
“I want to break up.”
He laughed and soon enough your laughter joined his. Your laughter died down until a comforting silence warmed the room.
“I love you, Y/N,” Tyler whispered, kissing your forehead.
“I love you, too, Ty,” you whispered back, nuzzling yourself further into his side. You remained in that position for the rest of the night, in each other’s arms, watching the flicker of the candle lights.
