A Shot in the Dark

“ I’m honestly not sure if I wanna see Pat again” I said softly. Jackie just looked at me with sadness in her eyes.
“I don’t know Jackie. I’m just so used to guys walking out of my life, and Patrick proved to me that I’m not worthy of being with a good guy.” I remember the day like it was yesterday. Patrick broke my heart and I don’t think he even felt guilty.
“Taylor you know that’s not true. Pat thought breaking up with was best for the both of you. He was so focused on hockey, he couldn’t make time for a girlfriend. It had nothing to do with you.”
I sighed. Maybe Jackie was right, but I just wasn’t sure if I was ready to have Patrick back in my life yet. Especially now that I was moving to Chicago and starting a brand new life. I knew that moving there meant that I eventually had to talk to Patrick, but I still wasn’t sure if I was ready.
“Tay you’re being unreasonable. You can’t hide from him. Plus he told me he really misses you.” Jackie said quickly.
“He said that?” I said questionably. Deep down, I truly thought he had forgotten about me after his big career for the Chicago Blackhawks.
“Of course he said that. You were his best friend at one point. Even though things didn’t work out between you guys, he still cares about you.” I knew she was right but it’s just kind of hard to believe. I said goodbye to Jackie and went to pack up my last few things before moving to Chicago the next day.
