Go Easy on Me

the way I love you

Keira’s face grew warm and she could feel her heartbeat quicken as Kris continued to gaze at her with a smirk on his face. She could still feel the cool trace of his breath on her skin and she bit her lip, hoping he couldn’t see the red on her cheeks. However, the crooked smile on his face said otherwise. She told herself she should run, that him seeing her as a challenge was a bad thing. But there was something in his eyes that drew her in, and she couldn’t look away.

Kris was still inches away from her when their intense staring session was interrupted by Crosby clearing his throat. Keira immediately looked away from Kris, instead glancing over at Heather, who was smirking at her. Heather winked and Keira wanted to shove her arm, but decided against it, not wanting to attract attention. The other players had all skated over to them at this point, talking and messing around with each other. Sidney had his arm draped around Heather’s shoulders as he spoke up.

“We’re probably going to head out to get some food. You ladies want to join us?”

Keira opened her mouth to protest but Heather beat her to it, excitedly accepting the invitation for both of them. Keira took a deep breath and allowed herself to glance at Kris, who had still not taken his eyes off of her. They all began to get up and start walking, when Kris caught up to Keira. He fell into step with her and leaned in close, again whispering for only her to hear.

“Guess you’re stuck with me then.”

Before Keira could respond, she was being pulled away by Heather. Heather guided her out of the arena as the guys went into the locker room to change. They made it outside of the arena and Heather was dying to get out her excitement.

“How amazing is this? We’re both being sought after by Pens. Talk about dream scenario.”

Keira didn’t respond, and just stood there looking at her feet.

“I didn’t exactly sign up for this.”

Heather looked at Keira with a horrified look on her face.

“Keira, are you insane? Did you see the way that Kris was looking at you? I thought he was going to ravage you right there arena.”

Keira turned away from Heather so that she could hide her face, which she was sure was completely red by now. As she stood there trying to cool down, she heard the guys walking out of the arena. Crosby walked over to Heather, grabbing her hand. Keira knew there was no escaping the Pittsburgh Penguins at this point. Now, she was there to support Heather.

Kris walked over to her, wearing a simple black t-shirt and jeans. She couldn’t help but rolled her eyes, wondering how he could make such a plain outfit look like it was a runway ensemble. She couldn’t deny he was gorgeous, with his rugged yet defined jaw and just the right amount of stubble. His dark brown eyes were captivating to say the least, so dark and deep that she could stare at them and never grow tired. He bit his lip in a seductive way, before running his hand through his hair. He tucked his hands into his jean pockets before joining Keira where she was standing.

“We’re just walking to the restaurant. Can I join you?”

Keira didn’t think she could decline, as everyone else had already started walking away from them. So instead, she nodded her head and fell into step beside him, making small talk on the way to the restaurant. Kris’ voice was soft in her ear and she had begun to grow immune to the hairs on her neck standing up. He made her nervous, but she thought it was the good kind of nervous, so she continued to move closer to him.

The team walked into the restaurant and Crosby walked over to the hostess, who must have been a Penguins fan, as she fumbled to add Sid’s name to the list. She assured him the wait would be minimal, her face growing more scarlet by the second. Most of the guys headed over to the bar area to grab some drinks before dinner. Keira watched as Heather and Sid moved over to a rustic-looking bench to sit. She couldn’t help but be happy for Heather, who looked like she genuinely enjoyed spending time with Sid. She had watched Heather bring home guy after guy, and seeing her content like this was new - but welcomed. Her self-reflection was interrupted by a now familiar voice in her ear.

“I think I owe you a drink.”

Keira took a deep breath and smiled. Although Kris made her nervous, there was something about him that also made her calm and curious.

“You do. And this time, you actually have to pay for it.”

Kris chuckled and reached into his pocket to pull out his wallet.

“Will you still be here when I get back?”

She tucked her hair behind her ear and nodded.

“I promise.”

Kris gave her a simple nod and turned around, joining the other guys at the bar. Keira smiled to herself as she heard the hostesses at the podium whispering to themselves. They whispered about how they couldn’t believe that the Pittsburgh Penguins were in their restaurant and they had talked to them. In all honesty, Keira couldn’t believe she was here either.

Just as the hostess had promised, the table was ready quickly, and the team, Heather, and Keira were escorted to a large booth in the corner of the restaurant. Everyone began to shuffle into the booth, and Keira was by no means surprised when Kris slid in next to her, drink in hand. She took the drink from him, thanked him for it, and began to look at the extensive menu in front of her. Everyone had given their orders to the waitress and were now chatting amongst themselves. Kris turned his attention to Keira.

“So, Keira, is it?”

She cursed herself as she felt herself blushing, but she couldn’t help it since it was the first time he had ever said her name. She couldn’t remember telling him, so Crosby must have told him.

“The one and only. And you’re Kris Letang.”

She watched as he smiled, like he was proud that she knew who he was.

“So you’ve heard of me?”

Now, Keira tried hard not to laugh. She held it in and looked at Chris with a smirk on her face.

“To be honest, I didn’t know your name until Heather told me who you were.”

Kris put his hand over his heart, faking upset.

“Ouch, that hurts, mon chéri.”

Keira chuckled, trying to hide her awe at his French.

“I’m sorry, I forgot that you’re probably so used to girls throwing themselves at you.”

Kris laughed but looked slightly uneasy, and Keira felt a little guilty for the comment.

“You’re right. But most of them aren’t worth my time, unlike you.”

It seemed as if blushing was something Keira would have to get used to if she was going to be around Kris. Even in a moment directed towards him, he could spin it around towards her. Keira picked up her drink and took a sip, staring directly at Kris.

“So, Keira, you know what I do. What do you do?”

“I model.”

Kris shook his head and let out a hearty laugh, looking at Keira with a crooked smile on his face.

“Of course you are.”

Keira furrowed her brows and questioned Kris, all nerves gone.

“What is that supposed to mean?”

Kris leaned closer and spoke directly to her, again so low that no one else could hear.

“It makes sense that you’re a model. I mean, look at you. You’re gorgeous.”

And there it was again, her heart racing like she was being chased and had nowhere to go. She didn’t know how to respond, and just kept staring into his brown eyes, looking for an answer. However, it would have to wait, since the waitress had begun to hand out everyone’s food, and the chatter began to die down. Kris looked at her one last time, taking a sip of water before turning his attention to the food in front of him. Keira too, looked down at the plate that had been placed in front of her, not sure if she had any appetite left. Her stomach was full of butterflies and anxiety, with no room to spare.

Notes

Chapter 3!

So as you probably noticed, I changed the layout around a bit. Didn't care for the other one too much.
Writing these two is kind of fun, as you've probably noticed there is a TON of sexual tension. It may be broken...

Thank you to everyone who has read, commented, subscribed, etc. You all rule. Thank you for your patience between updates, I'm a college senior and school has been crazy lately! I think I will have a bit more free time, so I hope to update again sometime this week.
