Never Expected This

Chapter 4

After 10 minutes of walking we made it to an arena. He explained that he enjoys skating here and usually takes walks afterwards. The logic in that, I don't know. Anyways, we walked towards the car and left the arena parking lot. Why is their logo out side the arena? Probably a hockey team... I thought. After some time of aimlessly driving in silent, I started talking.

"Where are we going?" I said.

"Somewhere." He said still looking at the road.
"Where?" I asked again.
"Anywhere." He said.
" You're not being specific you know?" I said. He chuckled.
" I know, that's the point." He said.
"Are we soon going to get out of the car?" I asked.
"Why? You're not enjoy the ride?" He asked.

"Not one bit" I said.

"And why is that?" He asked.
"Because we aren't doing anything! No music is on, you haven't said a word since the bench." I finally said. He automactically stopped the car and finally looked at me.
"You weren't lying when you said that you need to do something or else you get stubborn." He said.
"Well, you weren't talking to me." I said.
"It was a 30 minutes drive." He said smiling.
"Okay whatever. Where are we?"
"I'll show you; here." He said handing me a sweater. Vancouver Giants, I guess he's from Vancouver then. I took it and got out of the car. We walked till the bridge and waited. Waited for something. Personally, I was loving the view. The beautiful St-Laurent river.
"Isabelle?" Brendan said.
"Yes?" I said now looking into his eyes; something I like looking at as well.
"What's your favorite holiday?" He asked. Random much.
"I don't have one." I said. Don't have much of a family to celebrate with.
"Why not?" He asked.
"It's a long story. But let's just say holiday's aren't really happy times for me."
"I'm sorry." He said. I shrugged my shoulders.
"So what do you do for a living?" I asked. He instanly broke eye contact and stayed quiet.
"It's not important what I do." He finally said.
"Why not?" I asked. The guy is wearing a suit; an expensive one.
" Because Isabelle, whta we do doesn't define who we are." He said. "Maybe not, but I'm starting to think you're a drug dealer." I though. But for now I let it go.
"Fair enough." I said. " So why did you bring me here?" I asked
"When I first moved here, I didn't really go out much." He said, not looking at me but at the river. As if he was reminiscing on that day. " I discovered this one day, and ever since I come here."
"Reminds you of your hometown?" I asked.
"Yeah." He said quietly. We stayed like this for a while. Doing absolutly nothing and I liked it. If Annie only knew what I liked to do. Maybe she would suggested this instead of going clubbing. I really go back to his place. That would be fun, messing with him. Probably eat something and play a game. He took my hand, bringing back to reality.
"Let's go back to the car" He said.
"Sure." I said happily. I really don't know where that brust of energy came from. We got inside the car before he spoke again.
"So what do you want to do now?" He asked.
" Take me to your place." I said blodly. He looked startled from my statement; quiet frankly so was I.
"What?" He asked. Probably, he's trying to understand where all of this is coming from.
"You heard me. Take me to your place." I said.
"Why?"He asked, signs of confusion still oh so visible.
"Cos Annie will most likely bringing Ian back to our apartment. And you know..." I said. Pure bullshit; I can't believe I lied to him. He still looked perplexed and I couldn't help but find his confused face cute.
"Okay then." He said starting the engine. "My place it is."
"Great!" I said. He looked at me and shocked his head.
"You're something different that's for sure." He said.
"I like it"
*****************
I really didn't think I had the courage to say it; to demand something to a guy. And it actually worked, because now I'm standing in his condo. It looks like a nice place from the door. It looks pretty big for just one person if you ask me. But then again he could always have rommates that I don't know off. I unlaced my boots and stood there. I hadn't really thought on what to do. I'm in a strangers home, who seemed to have disappeared. I really should have thought this through instead of going by impluse. I'm so stupid sometime.
"So what do you want to do now?" Brendan asked. He changed from his dress shirt and pants to pyjama's.
"I don't know, it's your place." I said looking down.
"But it was your idea." He said. Yeah, smart idea it was.
"I'm hungry." I said. Jesus, I've got to stop saying things randomly.
"You're hungry?" He asked.
"Yes?" i said. He started at me. His head slightly tilted to the side; a sign of confusion. I felt bad for him. I'm a confusing person. Annie knows me, so she's use to my randomnest. But Brendan, this the second time seeing one and another. So he starred at me and I starred back.
"Then let's order some pizza." He said and left the entry area to go get the phone.
"I love you" I whispered before following him to the living room. I sat down on the sofa and waited for him to finish ordering the best creation in the food category. Not long, I noticed a slim white box; a Wii consel. I got up from my seat and plugged in the Wii.
"The legend of Zelda, nah. Call of Duty, nope... Mario--"
"We are playing call of duty!" Shouted Brendan from the kitchen.
"No!" I yelled back.
"And why is that?" He asked jumping on the couch, sitting behind me.
"Because it has no educational element." I said.
"It's a video game." He said.
"And?" I said.
"It's not ment to be educational. If you wanted that might as well read a book." He said.
"Well, I refuse to believe that." I continued to look for a good video game. Call of Duty; World at War.
"What's this one about?" I asked.
"I don't know. I haven't played it." He said.
"Well I guess we'll play it ." I inserted the CD and waited for the title screen.
"it's about the second world war till the end of the cold war." I said happily.
"And..." He said.
"And" I said strenching the word. "that means it has some educational facts.Therefor, I was right!" I said. He chuckled at me.
"Therefor? What are we, in english class?" He asked.
"No, but it's not against the law to use proper grammar." I said.
"Oh, so you're one of those people." He said.
"What people?"
"You know, the grammar freaks." He said. I rolled my eyes.
"You be jelly of my great wards." I said. "That's how you want me to speak?" I asked. He couldn't stop laughing.
"Repeat what you said." He asked still laughing.
"No. I probably failled miserably." I said embarrassed with myself.
"No, no you didn't. I'm just shocked that you manage to pull that off." He said.
"Flatter me all you want but I'm not repeating it." I said.
"Please." He asked.
Knock, Knock.
"Ah the food is here" I got up to answer the door.
"2 pizza's for a mister Gallagher." The delivery guy said. I was trying to restrain myself from laughing; mister Gallagher.
"Yeah, that would be it." I said and handed him the money.
"Thanks." He said and left. I closed the door and placed the pizza on the kitchen counter. Meat lover's delight, he knows me too well. I grab some plates ad the pizza and made my way to living room.
"Thanks." He said.
"No problem, now Mister Gallagher, let's get started."
"Sure thing." He said.
We played for sometime and it was really enteranning. At some point we weren't even trying to get the mission's done, but simply messing around. Maybe Ann was right, tonight did end up fun. By 2 am we called it a game because we we're both tired.
"So are you going to sleep in that?" He asked pointing at my party dress. I really hadn't thought this through. This is embarrassing.
"I...er... I didn't bring any cloth... so I guess." I said.
"You know you can ask." He said smilling. I'm starting to think he likes it when I'm embarrassed.
"May I borrow some cloth." I asked, my voice was lower than normally. I hate asking for things, especially to people who I barely know AND who are dam attractive. He left to get the cloth I had requested. He quickly came back with a set of pj's.
"Thank you." I said.
""You are more than welcome, the guess bedroom is right there." He said, giving me a geniun smile. I couldn't help but smile back.
"Thanks again... Good night Brendan." I said. He nodded.
"Goodnight Isabelle."
