Russian Roulette
17: Russians and vodka
I was discharged a week later, and back to work a week after that. Geno wanted me to stay home longer but I was dying of boredom.
“You look better,” Matt tells me in the locker room.
“I feel great. I’m happy I’m back to work,” I say smiling.
“How’s cohabitation going?” Elias asks.
“Surprisingly really well. I mean we’re rarely at home at the same time but when we are it’s nice,” I reply. We split up to do our rounds and I found myself missing Lyla. I finish rounds and scrub in to assist Dr. Reid on an experimental surgery operating on a spinal tumour. After eleven hours of standing on me feet, the tumour was dissected and we closed the patient up. It was late by the time we finished so I head to the locker room and checked my phone and I had a few missed texts from Geno.
Geno:
At bar. Come when done work
Geno:
Come
Geno:
Beau want see you
I shake my head and drive the short difference. I was exhausted and was still wearing scrubs but I figured I could at least say hi. I walk in and find everyone at a back table.
“Quinn!” Geno yells and I can tell he’s drunk.
“You made it!” Beau says loudly, his words slightly slurring.
“I did,” I reply.
“I see you got the nose cast off,” Sidney says smiling. I look down and notice he’s drinking water and assume he’s probably the only sober one here.
“Yeah finally. Wearing that thing was awful.”
“Hey are you okay? Audrina said you got surgery?” James asks concerned.
“Yeah I had to get my spleen taken out but I’m great now,” I assure him.
“I tried to outdrink Geno,” Beau says shaking his head.
“That’s probably the worst idea I’ve ever heard,” I laugh.
“He drinks vodka like it’s water,” James says incredulously. Kris Letang walks in and takes a seat next to
me.
“Glad I didn’t miss the party,” he says with a French accent.
“Beau was just telling me how he tried to outdrink G,” I inform him.
“Rookie mistake sunshine,” he replies laughing.
“Did you have a surgery today?” Sidney asks genuinely.
“Yeah I was in surgery for eleven hours today. We dissected a really complicated spinal tumour,” I tell him.
“Wow that sounds intense,” he replies.
“Hey Doc my wrist feels great!” Beau exclaims.
“I’m glad Beau,” I say smiling. A song comes on and Geno, Beau and James all start loudly singing along. Me and Sidney look at each other and we both burst out laughing. An hour later I can feel how tired I am so I tell Geno it’s time to go.
“But we party?” he says confused.
“You can party another time,” I tell him. He gets up unsteadily and Sid stands up and puts Geno’s arm around his neck. We head out into the cold and Sidney helps Geno get into my car.
“You got this?” Sidney asks me.
“I think so,” I chuckle. He heads back into the bar and I start the drive home.
“Было так весело, я рад, что вы пришли,” he says while reaching for my hand.
“I’m too mentally exhausted to translate,” I tell him.
“Was much fun. Happy you come,” he replies.
“How much did you drink?”
“Lots,” he laughs. I shake my head and pull into the driveway. I get out and go around to his side and help him out. He staggers out of the vehicle and I try and support his weight.
“Man you’re heavy,” I tell him. I get us into the house and up the stairs into the bedroom. I take his suit jacket off and start undoing his tie. He looks down at me and smiles and tucks my hair behind my ear. He leans down and kisses me and I feel my body respond. As tired as I was, I couldn’t deny the effect this man had on me. He hardly touched me and I had goose bumps and my heart rate was accelerating. His tongue enters my mouth he pulls me against his body. I can feel his erection so step back and take my scrubs off. I unbutton his shirt and start unbuckling his belt hastily. He pushes me down and pins me on the bed. He crushes his lips against mine and his tongue dominates mine. His hand reaches between my legs and he feels the effect he has on me. He looks surprised at first but it soon turns into a smile. He takes the rest of his clothes off and I take off my panties and bra.
“повернись, (turn around,)” he tells me. I obey and get on all fours. He slams into me and I cry out. He grabs my hips and starts thrusting I lean down, my moans muffled by the mattress. I feel him hit every inch of me and I can feel my orgasm building.
“Fuck Geno,” I pant.
“приходи за мной, (come for me,)” he says, his voice deep. Just like that, those three words sent me spiralling down into a deep abyss of pleasure. I feel Geno follow suit and we both collapse in a sweaty pile on the bed.
“Russia best,” I laugh. He smiles and kisses me softly. I trace his cheekbone and he closes his eyes. I was so in love with this man that it scared me to my core. I was so far gone that I couldn’t imagine what I’d do if I wasn’t with him. He opens his eyes and I look deeply into his brown orbs.
“Что ты думаешь об этом? (What are you thinking about)” he asks me.
“About how in love with you I am. It’s kind of scary,” I say honestly.
“Why scary?”
“I’ve never felt like this about anyone before.”
“I not scared. I supposed to meet and fall in love. Meant to be.”
“You believe that?” I ask.
“Я никогда не мог любить никого так, как я тебя люблю. Я надеюсь, что мы проводим нашу жизнь вместе, (I could never love anyone the way I love you. I hope we spend our life together).” My breath hitches and my heart skips a beat. I didn’t realize he was that serious about me. But he was right. I couldn’t imagine loving anyone in the same way. Had I found it? The elusive one? Was the tall, adorable, funny Russian hockey player the love of my life? He smiles at me and I fall to pieces. Evgeni Malkin was a lot of things but who would have thought he was my soulmate.
I wake up the next morning and look to the spot next to me. Last night’s revelation made me feel like a brand new person. My so far bleak and miserable life was now full of light. I remember what I told Lyla about how I was finally seeing the world in colour. I get up and go downstairs and grab some cereal. I was happy to have the day off and wondered what me and Geno would get up to. I was watching sport’s highlights when he walks through the door smiling.
“How was practice?” I ask.
“Great. Get ready?” he says smiling.
“Get ready for what?” I ask suspiciously.
“Surprise.” Confused, I put my bowl in the sink and walked upstairs to get ready.
I come down twenty minutes later and we get into Geno’s car.
“So if I ask questions are you going to answer them?” I ask him.
“No.” I shake my head and play with the radio. We pull into a parking lot and I read the sign on the building.
“Animal Rescue League?” I say confused.
“Da. We get cat,” he replies.
“We’re getting a cat?”
“In hospital, you say Geno I want cat,” he laughs.
“No I didn’t.”
“Da. перед операцией (Before surgery.)”
“I was under anaesthesia, I didn’t actually mean I want a cat.”
“Be fun. Find one need home.”
“You want to adopt a cat together? We’re getting pretty serious,” I laugh.
“Da. Come.” I take his hand and we walk in the building together. We’re led down a hallway where all the cats were. I peered in the cages but none really caught my attention. Geno was playing with a black and white cat so I walked to the end of the hall and saw a kitten alone in a cage. The little sign said it was a brown Siberian cat. I stick my fingers in the cage and the kitten starts to playfully bite them. He had big green eyes and his brown, grey and white fur was fluffy around his neck like a mane. He starts rolling around and jumping on my hand and I’m instantly smitten.
“Zhenya!” I call out loud. He comes and I see his face light up. He opens the cage and picks him up. The kitten start climbing on Geno’s shirt and Geno laughs.
“It’s a Siberian cat,” I tell him.
“Russia. Is perfect,” he says smiling. We fill out the paperwork and then taken him to the pet store to get supplies.
“What’s name?” Geno asks.
“It has to be Russian,” I reply. After debating back and forth we finally decided on Luka. We take our new bundle of joy home and set up his stuff.
Can't wait for the next part :)
