Stay a Little Longer

Not too Bad

“Linds, let’s go!” I yelled as Lindsey tore through the living room, trying to locate her phone.

“I can’t leave without my phone!” She searched for a few more seconds, finally finding it under the couch cushion. “Okay, I’m good, let’s go!”

We walked down to the elevator and out to the parking garage. “Do you want to drive?” I asked, offering Lindsey the keys.

“I don’t want to kill Ivy,” she shook her head in a violent motion.

“Fine.” I hopped in the driver’s seat and turned on the radio, playing some country music. We backed out of the spot and headed out to the streets of Chicago.

“So, Patrick?”

“I’m not going to sleep with him,” here come the twenty questions.

“Why not? Nichole, seriously.”

“Lindsey, seriously.”

“You know it’s going to happen.”

“Highly doubtful. I’m just going on one date with the guy, it’s not like were getting married or anything.”

“If you do end up getting married, I call dibs on maid of honor and a big fat ‘told you so.’”

“Mhm.” I pulled up to Fogo de Chao, stepping out of the car, allowing valet to park it. “Let’s go. I’m hungry and done talking about this.”

We made our way inside the resturaunt and immediately found Uncle Joel and Aunt Elizabeth. “Hi girls! How are you?” Aunt Elizabeth engulfed us in a bone-crushing hug.

“Elizabeth, don’t kill the girls,” Uncle Joel saved us.

“It’s just been too long since I saw the two of you together! Lindsey, how are you liking Chicago?” she asked.

“So far so good! Although, I will never get used to the driving aspect of this town. I think we almost died five times on the way over here.”

“We did not. Stop being dramatic,” I spoke up.

“Somehow I believe her, you are a crazy driver,” Uncle Joel laughed.

“Thank you!” Lindsey exclaimed, as we all sat down.

“So, you are coming to the game tomorrow right?” my aunt asked me.

“For sure. Lindsey however, won’t be. She’s got a hot date with her parents,” I mentioned. Lindsey’s parents were flying in from Minneapolis tomorrow morning, and Lindsey wanted to make sure she spent some good quality time with them, showing them around the city she’s called home for the past two weeks.

“Yeah, plus Nichole has a hot date of her own after the game,” Lindsey slipped up. Her face immediately shot over to me, silently apologizing for bringing it up.

“Really? It’s about time! Who is the lucky guy?” my aunt asked.

“Uh, I’d rather not say,” I shyly glanced at my uncle who was now super attentive and interested in the conversation.

“Nichole,” a stern voice boomed.

“What?” I asked.

“Which of the guys are you going out with tomorrow?” Uncle Joel asked.

“Promise not to kill him?”

“No, but I’ll try my hardest not to.”

“Patrick Kane,” I whispered.

“I didn’t quite catch that,” bull, he totally heard me.

“Patrick Kane, and before you go crazy, it’s just dinner. I know his reputation, and I know he’s a lot like, or supposedly used to be a lot like Tyler, but he’s also older than Tyler,” I said louder this time.

“It’s not that I don’t want you to go, I just know him, Nic. I’ve seen him first hand and I don’t want you getting hurt.”

“I’m a big girl, I think I can handle myself.”

“Joel, it’s just a date. Remember when my parents didn’t approve of you? We proved them wrong didn’t we? Just let her go on one date. What’s the worst that can happen? They figure out they like each other and go on another date? Would that be so bad? I mean, Patrick is trying to clean up his act, and who else would be a better fit than Nichole?” Aunt Elizabeth defended.

“Fine. Just please, please, please be careful. And don’t do anything you don’t want to do. If he’s a decent man, he’ll respect that,” my uncle sighed. The next thing we knew, we were being served food. About an hour later, we were stuffed to the gut and saying goodbyes.

“I’ll see you guys tomorrow,” I hugged my aunt and uncle goodbye and got in the car with Lindsey.

“So, now we have to pick out what you are going to wear tomorrow on your date with Patrick,” Lindsey wiggled her eyebrows.

“I was thinking a black and white romper with black heels?”

“Pair it with the Chanel bag and your bracelets.”

“Okay, necklace? Earrings?”

“Tassly silver plunge necklace and diamond earrings. Those never fail.”

I pulled into the parking garage at the apartment, but instead of heading up to the room, I headed towards the building’s lobby. “I’ve got to check the mail, you want to come with me?” I asked Lindsey.

“Yeah, hopefully Giuseppe will be there! I want to tell him about your date!” Giuseppe was our French doorman, whom we fell in love with the moment he opened his mouth.

“He’s such a girl sometimes.” I walked up to the front desk and asked the attendant for my mail.

“Lindsey, Nicki! My favorites how are you girls?” Giuseppe asked as I received my mail.

“Well, Nicki has a date tomorrow night with the oh so sexy Patrick Kane,” Lindsey began.

“No way! Girl, that is amazing!” Giuseppe raved.

“We’ll see. He has to show me that I’m not just a slam piece,” I answered.

“I think she should wear lingerie under her outfit tomorrow, what do you think G?” Lindsey asked.

“One hundred percent yes! You never know what dinner could lead to, maybe desert?”

“You guys are sick. I’m going upstairs. I’ll talk to you later G.” I headed over to the elevator and pressed P, brining me up to the penthouse. I thought about what Lindsey and Giuseppe had said, and what the heck, why not wear lingerie? After doing some chores and eventually eating dinner, I headed off to bed.

Then next morning I woke up and started getting ready for the day. I took a long hot shower, loosening up my muscles, then proceeded to do my get ready routine. About two hours later, I was all dolled up and ready for the day. I looked at the clock, 12:45 PM, oh boy, okay; I had fifteen minutes to meet up with Lindsey Vecchione for lunch at Spring Gardens.

I flew down the elevator and to my car, peeling out of the garage in hopes to beat the lunchtime rush traffic. With one minute to spare, I made it to the table that Lindsey was camped out at.

“Nice of you to make it!” She said, handing me a cup of coffee.

“Sometimes I hate this town. Nobody can drive.”

“I won’t disagree with that one,” she laughed.

“So, Jon has said that Patrick won’t shut up about you. I think you two would be cute together!”

“Everyone has been saying that! I guess I’ll just have to find out for myself.”

“I promise he won’t disappoint. He’s quite the romantic, with the right person.” She implied that I was the right person. LOL, yeah, right.

“Sure. Let’s just eat and go to the game?” I pleaded. She rolled her eyes at me and agreed to drop the subject. We spent about an hour eating, then about an hour shopping, finally making it to the United Center around 3:45 pm, for a 4:30 pm puck drop.

The game started after we said our hello’s to the other WAGs, which was weird to me because I wasn’t a WAG, but when you’re aunt is the Coach’s wife, you get a free pass to the box.

Half way through the second period, the score was tied up 2-2, with the Coyotes desperately trying to get the next goal. The horn ended the second period, but shortly started the third. Both teams were fighting hard for the final goal of the game, and with one minute left, Patrick Kane had sailed the puck to the back of the net.

“YES!” I jumped up with the rest of the girls. “Suck on that Arizona,” I sassed, knowing that nobody could hear me on the ice.

“What a great date topic,” Lindsey laughed.

“Is Jon getting lucky tonight?” I teased.

“We’ll see, I won’t object to it if he wants to,” she smirked. “Will Pat be getting lucky? I noticed some black lace popping out the top of your romper,” she motioned to my super lacy black bra that was trying to make an appearance.

“NO! It is just dinner!”

“Sure, let me know if that changes.”

“You’re funny.”

“I try,” she laughed. “Let’s go rally up our men,” she said taking my arm in her arm. We made it to the elevator and down to the concrete hallway that housed the locker rooms.

After about twenty minutes or so, Jonathan and Patrick emerged from the doors. “Good game boys!” I brought the two of them in for a hug.

“Oh hi there boobs. Nice tits, Kotex,” Jonathan smirked. Lindsey smacked him, but nodded in agreement.

“You do have nice boobs. I’ll give you that,” Lindsey nodded.

“Really? I think they are a little small,” I groped myself before realizing I was standing in the middle of the United Center hallway with a bunch of guys milling around.

“They do look good,” Patrick said quietly, turning a slight shade of red.

“Thanks,” I smiled at him. FOCUS NICHOLE. FOCUS.

“So, are you ready for dinner?” Patrick asked me. I nodded my head, and we said goodbye to Jonathan and Lindsey.

“So, I don’t know if you drove here or not, but I can either bring you back here after dinner or I can follow you into the city and pick you up at your place?” Patrick asked, trying to figure out the best way for our date to begin.

“Um, we can take my car if you want, and I can drop you off after?” I suggested.

“Sure, if that’s what you want to do. Which car is yours?” He asked as we made it to the VIP parking lot.

“The black Cayenne,” I drew my keys out of my purse.

“You drive a Porsche? What are you, twenty two?” He was in shock.

“Uh yeah, it was a birthday gift from my grandparents,” I replied, handing him the keys.

“You are going to let me drive her?”

“Unless you plan on crashing, I don’t see why not,” I shrugged, hopping into the passenger seat.

“Do you have an aux cord?” Patrick asked as he slid into the driver’s seat.

“Yeah, it’s in the center counsel,” I opened the top and handed him the cord. He flipped through his phone and settled on the current hits. “So, which place are we going to?”

“Nel Cielo, is that good?” He asked.

“It’s perfect.” I watched the buildings pass by as we drove into the city and up Lake Shore Drive, finally pulling up to a tall building. Patrick got out of Ivy and opened up my door for me, helping me step out onto the sidewalk. “What a gentleman,” I cooed, drawing a slight hint of pink to his face.

“Right this way,” a man in a sharp suit ushered us into the building and over to the elevator, pressing 80R, and stepping back out.

“I hope this isn’t too much,” Patrick said as we stepped out onto the roof top restraint. I looked around at the atmosphere and my jaw dropped. The place was empty, and all but one table was cleared of anything. The one table that did have something on it sat under a pergola lined with vines and dim Christmas lights. Flowers lined the railing and a single candle sat in the middle of the beautifully dressed table.

“Oh my gosh Patrick, this is amazing,” I’m pretty sure my eyes were popping out of my head.

“I’m glad you like it, wait till you try the lasagna though, I might have to pick your jaw up off the floor.” He led me over to the table, pushing my seat in for me before taking his spot in the chair next to me. As we ate dinner, we talked about our childhood, our family and friends, and anything else we could think of. Surprisingly, I felt like I had know Patrick my whole life, he was so easy to talk to and I could tell he really cared about what I was talking about, asking little questions here and there, showing that he was processing what was being said.

By the end of the date, I could feel myself falling for him, hard. Shit. “Hey Pat?” I asked as we rode the elevator back down to the street level.

“Yeah?”

“I had a great time, like for real, not just like an eh, I tried, kind of good time, but like an actual genuinely good time. You’re not the guy the media portrays you to be,” I smiled softly.

“Well, I’m glad you gave me a chance. To be honest with you, you are the first girl to make me want to know more about. You are a special girl, Nichole Simms.” He made me blush, and gave me a look I hadn’t seen all night. This look was not like the lusty look he had given me on Friday night, this look made my knees weak. I boldly took a chance and went against everything I said I wouldn’t do, and slowly pressed my lips against his.
