Confessions of An Ice Girl

"Abby! Abby! Where have you been?" Jordyn said running up to me with Ava by her side.

"Um...I've just had a virus." I lied. I had taken time off of the team to think about what I was going to do.

"Are you okay?" Ava asked

"Yeah! Are you coming back?"

I bit my lip and shook my head, "I just...I need to take some time off to deal with some personal things."

"Will you be coming back?"

"I don't know if I'll be allowed back..."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean because I'll have to miss time and I don't know if I'll be ready to return by the time try outs begin again."

"Mya won't save you a place?"

"I don't want her to. If I cannot come back, I don't want to have them hold a spot for me." I replied pulling my jacket closed

"Abby...is something going wrong? You've been acting weird for weeks." Ava said

"I'm fine." I replied as James and Paul walked the corner by us. James and I glanced at each other and they kept walking. "I'm fine, I should go."

"Abby, what was that about?" Jordyn asked

"What was about about?"

"That look James Neal just gave you."

"You know Neal. That's just how he is. I have to go." I said rushing to the car park

"Abby?"

I jumped "Neal. Don't scare me like that."

"I'm sorry." he blushed "I saw you talking to Ava and Jordyn..."

"I didn't tell them, James. But they suspect something."

James nodded "Abby, I'm sorry..."

"Don't be sorry. This isn't your fault."

"But you're quitting because of me...because of us."

"James, I chose to do this. If I didn't, they'd know I was pregnant...they could find out you're the father. I'd be fired and who knows what they would do to you. This is better."

"Abby..."

"Don't argue with me. This is my decision."

"What are we going to do?" he asked quietly

"Well, I think we need to have a sit down talk about our situation."

James nodded "I can come by? Later tonight."

"Okay. Just text me."

"Okay."

I hugged him and kissed his cheek "I'll see you later." James nodded and headed back inside. I got in my car and flipped through my CDs, when there was a tap at my window. I jumped again and saw Jordyn. I rolled down the window, "Jordyn. Hey."

"Abby, what is going on with James Neal and don't lie to me. We are best friends."

"Get in." I sighed. Jordyn got into my car and looked over at me "Listen, you cannot tell anyone. Not a soul, okay?"

"Okay."

"Promise me."

"Okay, I promise."

"A couple months ago, James Neal and I had sex. It was meant to be a one time thing. A few weeks after I started not feeling well...I'm pregnant Jordyn. The baby is James'. I won't be coming back to the team. I took an official leave of absence and I won't be coming back."

"Is he making you do this? You need to tell them. Tell Mya...Tell Shero."

"James isn't making me quit. I chose to."

"Are you dating him?"

I sighed "We haven't really talked about where we stand...I want to keep this baby and I want him involved."

"Abby...what were you thinking? If they find out..."

"They won't. Besides, I'll have officially quit the team by the time the baby is due and they can't punish either of us for it."

"They can figure out that it happened..."

"Yes, but they won't be able to do anything about it."
