Something Isn't Missing [Tyler Seguin]

Chapter 7

(Jae’s POV)
“What the fuck was that shit?” My ‘mother’, Aubrey, yells into the back seat as soon as she shuts the passenger side door. I remain silent and check the time as soon as Samuel, my ‘father’, turns the key in the ignition. I spent 6 hours there, got there at 3pm, now it’s 9pm. I hope Tyler’s awake.
I stay silent the whole time they’re yelling at me and just tune them out. I’ve been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, severe depression and social anxiety. I’ve also been medicated for each of these. I don’t want to take these. I want to feel normal again, yes, but I definitely don’t want it to be because of a few pills that I have to take every morning. I also don’t want to have to go talk to someone. I try to take my mind off of this to avoid having another minor panic attack but for some reason it doesn’t seem to work.
We make a stop at the drug store, to pick up my new medications and whatever else we apparently need, I don’t really know what took them so long because I stayed in the car the whole time. I shoot a text to Tyler, just telling him that I’m coming home tonight and that I’ll call him once they fall asleep. He answers, almost immediately, telling me that he’ll stay up. I see them leave the store and I quickly stuff my phone into the pocket of my sweater.
We continue the drive back to the house, where they tell me to get out because apparently they’re going to some sort of dinner shit for their jobs or something. I didn’t question it because I know that they’re probably gonna stay at a hotel tonight and not come home, typical for them when they go out and think they’ll be drinking. They give me the bag of pills and whatever else they got before they drive off. I wait until they’ve turned off my block before giving Tyler a call, asking if I can come over.
After getting the okay, I walk over to Tyler’s and tap on the window. A few seconds later, Tyler opens the door. I stand there for a second before responding directly because he looks like he either just woke up or he had been binge-watching a tv show for the past 4 hours. Either way, he still looks adorable in his plain white tee and Leafs pajama pants. I step in and say hi to his family before we head upstairs to his room. He tosses me a very worn Sundin shirt and my sweats to change into, leaving the room to allow me to do so. After I let him back in, I begin to tell him what happened. Once I get to the pill part, I put the pill bottles and the pill organizer on his bed.
I see tears begin to well up in his eyes as he takes my hand. He remains silent as he puts the pill bottles and the organizer back into the bag before pulling me to lay down with him.
“Can I stay with you tonight?” He asks, running a hand through my hair.
“Yeah, they went out and are staying in a hotel overnight. I think it’d be better for us to stay at mine though, so it actually looks like I was there tonight when they get home in the morning, y’know?” I say, sitting up. He agrees as he shoves a change of clothes and a toothbrush into his book bag before we head downstairs to ask his mom if it’s alright, which she agrees to and we leave.
