Wasted Time

The days came and went, and before I knew it, August was starting and Sidney’s birthday was fast approaching. Throughout the summer, I had reconnected with some of the wives I was close with when Sidney and I had first started dating. We had made numerous trips to go visit Vero and Marc, and Catherine and Kris. Being with his teammates made Sidney happy, and gave him something to distract him from the upcoming World Cup of Hockey. For me, I got in some much needed girl time and got to see the babies who were getting older and bigger before my eyes.
The night before Sidney’s birthday, the two of us were sitting in the kitchen, a thin rectangular envelope sitting on the table between us. With everything going on with our relationship, my job took the backseat, but this envelope placed a daunting mood towards returning to my job.
“Babe, just open it.” Sidney pleaded, running his hands over mine. I bit at my lip, trying to hold back the tears. I knew what the letter inside would stay, and I wanted nothing more than to prolong reading it.
“What if I just wait until the 8th? You know, after your birthday?”
“No, because you won’t be able to enjoy the party- which yes I know about- and I want to be able to enjoy with you.”
“How do you know about the party?” I shrieked.
“Kris can’t keep a secret for shit babe.” He laughed. “Honey, just please open it.”
“Sid-” I started and stopped. Rolling my eyes, I dropped his hands and reached for the envelope.
Sid watched me, looking for any type of reaction. I let my eyes go over and over the words. “We’ve decided to terminate your position as an educator at our school.” The words fumbled out of my mouth. “Happy now? I read it. Now I don’t have a job.” I shouted at Sidney, standing up and slamming the chair into the table. I stormed off into the bedroom, Sidney following me.
“Babe, c’mon.” He pleaded, reaching out for my arm. I pulled away fast, shutting the bedroom door and leaving Sidney in the hallway.
“I don’t have a job.” I whispered, walking to the bed and laying down. Staring at the ceiling, I repeated the words once more, finally letting the tears fall.
A few hours later, Sidney came into the bedroom. I had exhausted myself from crying and was still staring at the ceiling.
“Sorry. I’m a horrible girlfriend. I shouldn’t have gotten in an argument with you, especially the night before your birthday.” I whispered into the darkness of our bedroom. Sidney shuffled around, finally turning on one of the lights on the bedside table, and climbing next to me on the bed.
“You’re not a terrible person, and that barely even counts as an argument.” He promised, sitting up and pulling me up so I was resting my head on his broad chest.
“I’m still sorry.”
“And I’m sorry I pushed you to open the envelope. You wanted to wait and I made you open it.”
“We both suck.” I laughed, running my fingers up and down his arm. He laughed too, placing a kiss on my forehead.
“But, it’s okay because we suck together and I still love you.”
“I love you too, babe.” I whispered. I let my eyes close as Sidney’s breaths evened out. Even though I had no blankets to cover me, the warmth from Sidney’s body was enough to keep me comfortable and safe. Sighing, I let my body succumb to sleep.
I woke up before Sidney the next morning. The light streamed lightly into the bedroom, slipping through the pulled shades and leaving stripes of sun and shadows across Sidney’s bare skin. I reached my hand to the curls that grew at the nape of his neck. I tangled my fingers in them and moved closer into his chest. He grunted, slowly opening his eyes.
“Hi, baby.” He whispered, his voice scratchy, low and sexy. I placed kisses across his jawline, getting a light moan as he became more awake.
“Happy birthday, sexy.” I whispered, kissing Sidney deeply. He turned, laying on his back and pulling my body on top of his. My shirt rode up, letting the skin of my stomach meet his.
“Is this my present?” Sidney asked as my lips left his and began kissing his neck and collarbones, moving further down. I kissed down his chest, pausing at his naval and running my hands up and down his thighs, which I now straddled.
“It could be one of them. I’m considering it a present to me.” I shrugged. Sidney laughed, but it turned into a gasp and I pulled down his boxers and wrapped one of my hands around the base of his hardening length.
“God, you’re amazing.” He moaned.
“I haven’t even done anything yet.” I laughed, beginning to move my hand slowly up and down, swiping my thumb over the head to coat it with the precome.
“Please, if you don’t stick my cock in your mouth, I’m going to-”
I dropped my head and wrapped my lips around the tip, cutting Sidney off. His hands went to the back of my head, grabbing my hair and tangling his hands in it. He pushed my head down, forcing me to hollow out my cheeks and deep throat him. I looked at him through my eyelashes. His eyes were screwed shut, head tilted back and mouth open wide, no sounds coming back. I moaned around his length, making him tense and buck his hips towards my face.
“Babe, oh my god.” Sidney begged. I pulled my head back a little and wrapped my hands around his length.
With the added pressure of my hands, Sidney came quickly and hard into my mouth. I swallowed all of his load, releasing his length and kissing up his chest.
“I love you.” He smiled, kissing me sweetly.
“Happy birthday.” I winked, kissing him again before rolling off his chest. “Let’s go, we have a long day and as much as I want to sit here and have sex with you all day long, we can’t do that.”
“C’mon, please?” Sid laughed, sitting up and eyed me as I walked towards the ensuite bathroom.
“I’m going to take a shower, You can join, but other than that, you have to wait until tonight.” I winked. Sidney groaned, but shot up out of bed and pulled me into the bathroom.
