Knocked Down, Rise Above

Chapter 9


They slept a while then got up and had dinner and just tried to relax and not think about the next day

Cassie got up and got ready to go with Sid for all the testing she was glad Pascal as going with them too Sid was getting ready Pascal was in the kitchen with coffee when Cassie came in he handed her a travel mug of coffee

“Thanks and so glad you are coming with us” she says

“I am glad to be able to be here for you both and go with you guys” he says


Finally Sid was ready and they left once there they were ready for Sid he got up and hugged Cassie and says “no worrying about me”

“Easier said than done” she says He didn't want to let go of her but needed to get this done and over so they would have the answers After like only 10 minutes Cassie got Up and started to pace around the waiting room

"Sweetie pacing not going to help or change things” Pascal says

"Yeah but I can't just sit down it makes me more nervous” she says

“Maybe I shouldn't have given you coffee this morning” Pascal says laughing hoping she smile or laugh

"What if it is a concussion and what if it's like 2011” Cassie asks “We don't know that yet” Pascal says

“How did and Carole-Lyn get through all your health issues” Cassie asks

“It was hard and still can be but when it came down to it and the risks were too high I knew what to do to leave the game” Pascal says

"If he has to leave this game it will kill him it's all of him why now right after one of the greatest years of his career” Cassie says

“First of all we don't know how bad plus even if there is an issue doesn't mean he won't get better and be able to play” Pascal says

"I just need to be strong for him and let him lean on me but seeing him the other night that's not Sid and I felt like I was losing him and could lose him” Cassie says with tears

"That's never going to happen ok everything is going to be ok” pascal says to her praying it truly would be

After waiting a while they were able to go back to be the Sid in a room Cassie took one look at him seeing his face and knew all she says is “how bad”

“There no answer to that at the point we just have to see how he does as he heals” the doctor says

"So what's the game plan for everything” Pascal asks

“Medical staff is informing the team right now and my plan is no media available for me about this today I need a day so I won't flip on them and their questions” Sid says

“I think that's a good idea give yourself a little time before being thrown lots of questions” Cassie says

"Will go to the practice rink tomorrow talk to training staff see what they allow me to do and what I can't do. I won't be cleared for the opener I am pretty sure so talk to the media also tomorrow get that all out” Sid says

"Then let's go home and get you some rest and no tv today” Cassie says

“That's a good idea so that you don't get more upset with stuff they post” pascal says

They left when they got back to Sid’s pascal left to go back to his house Cassie says “ why don't you go lay down”

“Come lay with me” Sid says

“I need to take care of lunch and a few other things” Cassie says Sid knew he needed her to lay with him to make him more at peace he didn't know how to tell her or explain cause he was sacred of her rejecting if he told her he loved her like the way he does. He looks at her and says “please”

“God why do you do that knowing I can't say no” Cassie says

“Good let's go” Sid says They get to his room and he changes Cassie did too and laid down Sid laid down beside her pulling her closer and covering them with the blankets from his bed and added her blanket on top Cassie loved when he held her and she could smell his body spray it comforted her she knew right now and even later down the road that even though she loved him that wouldn't work he say like he always told friends she my best friend but right now she take this. It was what she needed her best friend than man she loved more then anything was holding her. She knew they didn't know the answers or what was going to happen with him but here like this she felt safe, loved and like everything would be fine.
