Cold as Ice, Hot as Fire

It's Just Lust

-{Several Months Earlier}-

It was an unseasonably hot May evening as Alana carried in the last of the liquor bottles from the delivery van. Right after she set down the box, her eyes shot down the bar to see Jay standing there, smoking yet another cigarette as he texted away on his cell phone. "Are you going to help," she asked in an annoyed tone. "No," he responded while going back to his phone, "Busy." Alana rolled her eyes and muttered "Useless Fuck" under her breathe as she began to stock the bar and update the inventory sheets. Jay was absolutely useless, the only reason he was on the payroll was because he was Mike's stepson and his mother insisted he hold some sort of job. She thought it would teach him responsibility, well she was dead wrong.

Just as she was finishing up, Jay walked behind her and smacked her ass with a smirk. "Good Job Lana, I'm heading out, you can cover this place yourself tonight." With a look of rage on her face, she gripped the counter-top of the bar. If she didn't need this job so badly she would just punch him out. "You're scheduled to work," she growled, "You can't leave." He grinned and said, "I can do what I want, Remember? I have a hot date, so have fun tonight." As he left she punched her fist into an empty box and growled like a fierce lioness. This was the second night in a row he had screwed her over, and of coarse since Mike and his wife were on vacation there was nothing that could be done about it. She looked over at Rick the bouncer and said, "Well, It's just the two of us tonight." Rick shrugged and took a seat at the bar saying, "It's fine Lana, He wouldn't have done anything anyways."

For it being a Thursday night, things were extremely slow at the bar. The massive band of thunderstorms seemed to be keeping everyone inside rather than out on Carson. As each storm moved in, the air became even more heavy and humid. Eventually Rick decided to go home since it was only two hours till closing time, so she was left all alone. In order to avoid falling asleep, Alana walked to the back office to grab her acoustic guitar as the next storm rolled in. She took a seat on the counter top beginning to play a simple, yet powerful riff that resonated through the bar and out the open windows. As she strummed her guitar she closed her eyes and sang the song she was writing.

"Can you please, remind me how you feel? This emptiness is real, I can't bear the thought of it.
And please, remind me how to smile, I lost track after awhile. Is happiness so hard to get?
Is it me, or is this over? As I got sober, I watched you fade away.
Is it me, or is this ending? As I was pretending, I watched you fade away."

As she finished, she heard the sound of a single person clapping and she instantly shot her eyes open. And there in front of her was a man, drenched from the rain. "Sorry, just killing some time, can I get you something," she asked the man in front of her. He nodded and walked to take a seat at the bar. Alana hopped down as he asked for a whiskey on the rocks, grabbing the bottle of crown and pouring him a glass. He said nothing as he nodded and raised the glass to his lips. Unable to help herself, Lana stared at the stranger in front of her. He had a defined jawline, black hair, and he was very good looking. However she also noticed the emptiness in his eyes, the familiar broken look on his face. She had seen enough patrons in her day that she knew something was wrong.

"Did you get stuck in the storm?" Alana casually asked. He looked down at the bar as he responded with a slight accent, "You could say that." He pushed away his long, straight black hair and pointed up at the wall. "How much for the shirt?" She shrugged and said, "Nothing, I'll get you one." She reached under the counter and pulled out a black, dry t-shirt with the bar's name on it and tossed it to him. He stood up and slowly pulled his soaking wet shirt off, revealing a surprisingly muscular body underneath. "Thanks," he said in a low voice as he sat back down.

Alana leaned against the bar and said, "So what did she do to you besides break your heart?" He looked up from his drink surprised, "How did you know it was a woman?" She let out a small laugh and said, "I'm a professional bartender, I see everyone and everything." He looked at her with his hazel brown eyes as he finished his glass of whiskey. "I came home from Canada to find my bags were packed," he said, "she found someone else and wanted me out. Not much more to say." As she poured him another glass she set the bottle on the counter and said, "So you were blind-sighted. That explains it." He looked at her and asked, "Explains what?"

"The look on your face," she explained, "I knew it was more that a simple breakup." He pushed his wet hair back with his hand and said, "Well aren't we miss psychologist." He leaned onto the counter propping his head up with one hand and asked, "So bartender, what should I do?" Alana smirked and said, "I just read people, trust me you don't want my advice." He took another sip and asked "Let me hear it, I can make my own choice after." She poured herself a glass of crown on the rocks saying, "OK, well how about this. Have a drink, move on, and then don't let anyone back in."

He looked at her with a confused gaze and asked, "What do you mean 'Don't let anyone back in'?" Alana looked at him and answered, "I was tired of being broken and let down, so now I don't let anyone in. It's safer that way, I can't get hurt. Now I'm an Icy bitch who's alone." She shrugged her shoulders and said, "It's not the best advice, but it works for me." As she drank from her glass he said, "To each their own I guess. I'm considering my friends idea to be honest." She tilted her head and asked, "and what advice was that?" He smirked and said, "step one is to get drunk, then step two is to find a hottie to take home." Alana laughed and picked up the bottle of Crown saying, "Well I can help you with step one."

For the next hour they had a few more rounds and continued to talk, seeming to distract him from thoughts of his ex. But as the clock struck midnight Alana said to the stranger, "Sorry, but it's closing time. I've got to cash you out." He quietly paid his tab and tip with cash before following her out of the bar. As she locked the door she could see the stranger looking down the street, and with a sad tone in his voice he wished her goodnight. As he took three steps forward Alana did something surprising, calling out to the lonely stranger. "Hey, do you need some company?" He turned around slowly and said, "Only if you want to." She walked up to him and said, "Why not, You look like you need it."

As they began to walk he asked, "So do you like being alone?" Alana shrugged slightly saying, "I'm not really alone, I'm always around other people. I just chose to build a wall to protect myself." He looked confused as she walked beside him. "If you knew what I've been through, you'd understand my life choices," she explained, "or rather, forced choices." He looked at her with those brown eyes again and said, "What was so bad in your life to drive you to this extreme?" She shook her head and said, "Honey, you're not my psychologist tonight. I'm just here because I feel some strange sense of sympathy for you. You want a distraction and I'm board, That's all."

"So the Ice queen does feel something," he said with a slight laugh. Alana shot him a glare while saying, "quit while your ahead." He shrugged and continued to lead her towards his hotel next to the Birmingham Bridge. When she thought about it, Lana wasn't sure why she was walking with this guy. Maybe it was because she knew how it felt to be broken and need a distraction, or maybe she wanted just a little bit of companionship without any strings. Then there was option three; If she could help just one person, maybe someday there would be hope for herself.

Before she knew it they arrived and took the elevator up to his room, which was more like a private suite. As soon as they entered the quiet hotel room there was an awkward moment of tension, but then he leaned in and kissed her hard on the lips. The lonely stranger stepped away and quickly said, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't...I can't..." Alana walked up to him, pushed his body against the wall, and returned the kiss. "Don't feel guilty, Just shut up and enjoy yourself," she said while looking deeply into his eyes, "I'll make you forget about her for tonight. That's what you want isn't it, A distraction? You said it yourself."

She waited till he nodded before her ruby red lips locked onto his. As she exchanged passionate kisses with the stranger, she started to remove his clothes. Lana covered his chiseled, tattooed body upper body with kisses from his neck down to his abs, sending him into a frenzy. As she unzipped his jeans she could feel the rock hard bulge beneath. She teased him with her hand and said, "Impressive, I can't believe someone would throw this away." She leaned in and kissed his neck, causing him to moan and a tiny smile to form on her lips.

However before she had a chance to proceed any further, he pushed her back onto the bed. She smirked as he crawled on top of her, taking control of the situation. He artfully pulled her shirt over her head, revealing her black lace bra beneath. As he ran his hands down her skinny frame, goosebumps went down her spine. He leaned in and unclasped her bra while whispering, "You know It's a shame you hide this body from the rest of the world, ice queen." As his hands cupped her breasts, he leaned his head down and began to kiss and caress them like a hungry wolf. Her heart began to race, and she could feel herself getting more turned on with each passing second. He unzipped her jeans and threw them off to the side, joining the rest of their clothing on the floor. "I'm going to help you forget about your problems too." At that moment he tugged her lace underwear the the side, and slid his fingers inside of her. Alana let out a loud moan as the long digits moved in and out of her body as his thumb massaged her clit.

The stranger continued to tease her body, but she she held back not wanting to give in too easily. It had been a long time, and she wanted to enjoy this as much as him. As he pulled a condom out from beside the bed and slid it on, she threw her underwear onto the floor. She grinned as he finished, and immediately pushed him to the bed. She quickly crawled on top of him, positioning herself right above his throbbing manhood. Her long black hair covered her shoulders and breasts as she slid him inside her, causing them both to let out a gasp. Alana moved like the ocean on top of him, shifting back and forth in rhythm, but with varying intensity.

After a few minutes he grabbed her by the back of the neck, pulled her into another deep kiss, and rolled her onto her back. As he took control again he quickened his pace, causing her to dig her nails into his shoulders. His body had a strange power over her, and she could feel herself giving into the pleasure overtaking her body. He lifted her ass off the mattress, and griped onto her hips as he plunged in deep inside her. As she shuddered from the sensation of the next few thrusts, he let out a moan. A moment later they both climaxed at the same time, and a wave of intense pleasure overcame her body.

The both collapsed there for a moment, panting, unable to move. He sounded as if he muttered something in french, but she didn't need a translator. Alana knew he was basking in the moment, just like her. But little did he know, in her mind she was already planning her escape. Alana had done her good deed and fulfilled the job of being a distraction. In fact she even enjoyed that one moment in time of lust and passion. But it was just one moment, and she knew that reality would return faster than the sun in the morning.

Alana sat up and went to get out of bed when he grabbed her hand. "You're not leaving, are you? Stay the night," he said. "I'm not leaving," she said knowing it was a full lie, "I want to go clean up." She washed her hands and her face, turning her flushed skin back to the white, milky skin. Within a few seconds she slid her underwear and bra back on, and stared at herself in the mirror. "You were just a distraction," she told herself as if she was trying to convince her own mind.

She returned to the bed and pulled the covers up, laying there until he fell sound asleep. Part of her felt guilty for wanting to leave, but it was for the best. She was damaged goods, and that was the last thing he needed. When she was ready, Alana slowly sat up and snuck out of bed. She quietly got dressed and found the tablet and pen they put in every hotel room.

Alana scribbled in cursive the words "I'm sorry to do this to you, but I had to leave. It's the best thing I can do for the both of us. I'm asking that you don't try to find me, instead focus on finding yourself. Trust me, once you're ready to move on I'm sure you'll find the real woman of your dreams. Goodbye, and I wish you the best."

After applying a fresh coat of her deep crimson lipstick, she kissed the note and left it on his nightstand. Without looking back, Lana turned around, and left the hotel room. As she walked down the street she could feel a pang in hear heart, but tried to ignore it. Her mind wandered to the melody she was writing a few weeks ago, and suddenly the words came to her mind. Better sorry than safe. Alana repeated the words in her mind as she walked back towards her home.

I like this story its extremely edgy and normaly the stories I read about hockey players or really any person in real life are sappy. This is a nice change, I appreciate how different your story is, I'm hoping you let the edginess last for a while it help give some tension to your story. But truly your story is a nice change from the norm and I hope you continue writing it!
