The Thing

June 24. 4:32 AM. Boston, MA.
Alexa got home from her job. Addy was crying on the couch eating a bowl of accai and fruit in their apartment.
"Why are you crying?" Alexa asked. Sometimes it was questionable reporter mode, but right now, it was concerned big sister mode. Alexa's clothes were obviously mangled, her stilettos were punctured, her hair was just a little off.

"Why do you smell like a hockey player." Addy said back, hysterically.

I'm not upset. I'm fine. That game was so stupid. Blowing a lead? C'mon. What's up with Alexa though.

Actually, Addy was upset that the Bruins lost the game, the series, the Cup.
"I did a thing. Because, Patrick Kane, he's a legend, we..."
Addy gasped, shaking her head in disbelief at what her sister said.
"Gross!" Addy laughed, upset.
"He was soooo good though!" Alexa rambled over Addy's melancholy tears.
"I got his number. Like, I got PKane's phone number!" Alexa was too excited, as Addy was the complete opposite.
Alexa wouldn't stop talking about Patrick. They had a pretty solid relationship.
Addy was still bitter. She didn't care for Patrick or his nasty reputation.

Addy blinked back into the present, folding her hands in her lap. The boys tried to stare at each other to spark conversation.
"The two of them obviously went to Chicago, the little fu-" Brad rambled.
"We need to find a way to get to Chitown!!!" Lucic added as Tuukka pulled up a map.
"Easy. We take the old Boston Railroad all the way to Chicago. We'll be there. And I'm sure everyone can look for clues." McQuaid suggested.
Soon enough, 5 boys and 1 girl drove over to the railroad.

Addy didn't really like the idea, but she had no choice.
Expecting a train to take us to Chicago, with a railroad that's been abandoned for years? Awesome. I thought the Bruins were smarter than this.

Several carts remained untouched, ready to be journeyed into. Tuukka decided to step into the conductors compartment, levers, controls, buttons, and coals in front of him.
"I can be the conductor, would that make sense?" His voice echoed, amazed at the technology.

Everyone else was settling in the rear compartment, walking into the old fashioned train cart linked by an internal corridor. There was also an outside balcony for fresh air. But most people stayed inside.
With barely any food, some blankets, and a portable radio, the players scattered about. It was them versus time.
"Is this too risky?" Bergeron whispered.
"Forget the risk, eh? We have to find Alexa fast." Marchand reminded him.
"Hopefully this thing takes us to Chicago." Lucic laughed.
"This thing is a train, and it will." Tuukka's voice was ticked off, pushing every button he could.
"This isn't the T, Tuukka." Number 17 snapped back.

Addy stayed silent trying to find a place to sit, and whatever Addy did, Tyler followed. Tyler didn't speak, he just listened.

She just lost her sister. I should just give her some time. Should I tell the boys to stop goofing off?

The skyscrapers and stars slowly turned rural into forests and miles and miles of train track were ahead of themselves, hopefully headed for the Windy City. The team slowly fell asleep around 12am. The set up? Marchand against the window, alone. Bergeron in the corner. McQuaid and Lucic on the sides. Most importantly, Tyler and Addy in the middle, but with two different blankets and pillows. Tuukka didn't want to sleep, he had to focus on the road ahead. The sound of the wheels gliding against the harsh metal and the buzzing of the no signal radio was what put everyone to sleep.
