Piaffes, pirouettes, and pucks

Here I am stood in Pittsburgh international airport it’s fair to say after my flight from the UK to New York then another flight to Pittsburgh I’m shattered, it’s my first time travelling on my own and I did nearly miss both my flights but I got here in the end, the reason I decides Pittsburgh was because I needed to escape the UK and I also found a large equestrian property just outside of the city with a huge 20 horse barn, an indoor and outdoor school, plenty of trails for hacking out and lots of land for grazing. I ride to a 4-star level which is the highest level of competing and at 20, near 21 years old that’s impressive, so while I’m training I think I might to coaching sessions to riders if I’m not away in another country competing, although I will need to go back to the UK for some eventing competitions it won’t involve people I don’t want to see. It will be a good career move and I will get to meet a lot of new people. I walk out of the airport and begin the ultimate challenge of trying to find my Toyota Hilux, I shipped most of my possessions a few weeks ago so they are in the house on the property ready to unpack and sort, also I will have to unpack my horses stuff ready for when they arrive next week, I have 5 horses in total coming across, Lilly my Lipizzaner dressage horse, Black Beauty my Irish sport horse, Sisu my highly strung thoroughbred, penguin another Irish sport horse and Midnight my Friesian. I will probably get a few more horses along the way for kids learning to ride or beginner adults. I drive for an hour or so outside of the city and pull up to the large electric gates where the estate agent meets me to hand over the code for the gate 2020 which so happens to be when the next Olympics is, its June 2019 which gives me over a year to prepare for selections then the games. She also gives me the keys to the house, I put the code in for the gate and drive up the track to the house, past the fields which make me think about my horses and how they will soon be galloping in them having fun. I jump out of my car and go to the front door unlocking it and avoiding the boxes the moving guys dumped in the hall. I walk straight ahead into the kitchen and look through the large floor to ceiling window, this is my home now, where I will probably stay for the rest of my life and get married and have a few kids with, that’s if I can find someone who can put with my sarcastic comments and drinking habits. I decide I should start unpacking, I hunt for the boxes that say kitchen and start there. 2 hours later and I’m almost done just putting the finishing touches to my bedroom, most of the furniture was placed in the rooms so it was just placing things like TV’s and accessories to make it look more homey. I’m happy I arrived early on in the day so I can just get finished with my set up.Go out of the house not bothering to lock the door because no one is going to get in unless they know the code to the gate. I walk to the barn and it looks amazing it’s all new build with large stables with automatic water troughs and corner mangers for hay. It has a large tack room with plenty of saddle racks and paces to put bridles there is also another room with feed bins for nuts and chaff and a large space for hay. Next to that room I another with all my horse bedding in I ordered some to be delivered which comes in compressed oblong bags. It’s ready to be placed in the stables for the horse’s arrival. Next to that are two wash stations for bathing and show prep. At the end is a set of stair that lead up to an office with a bathroom next to it and a bedroom next to that for anyone who needs to stay overnight at the barn. I walk out of the barn and back to the house and see the sign I had put up Oakmont stables, run and owned by Elle white. All I know this is going to be good.
