Someone New

Chapter one

I have been sitting here for hours trying to win against my ex-girlfriend who claims that I beat her. She is a lier. I didn't do anything wrong. All I have to do is speak the truth, which that's all I have to say. I have nothin to hide, nothing to lie about. I will get out of this. I will win this case. It's my turn to take the stand and explain what happened that night, in full detail. I get up out of my chair and I sit at the stand in which I have to tell my side of the story.
"Well...it all started at a Halloween party that the Avs had in 2013..." I began.

Flashback...(This is information that I found reading about the trial. I do not own any of this.)

I sit at the bar drinking with Gabe and Evgeniya (idk if I spelt her name correctly and I am trying to write what happened, but only my version of what happened cause, well I wasn't at that party, so I'm improvising) walks over looking all drunk. She starts dancing, but then she starts yelling at me. She thinks I am not paying attention to her, well while she was off talking to some of her friends, I was talking to some of mine. Gabe walks over to Dutchy and they just casually watch us fight. I get up and go to the men's room in which she follows. A few hours have passed and Evgeniya goes back to my penthouse and I go back to hanging with the guys. I look at my watch and it reads 6 o'clock AM. I head home all buzzed and drunk. I open the door to my penthouse and Evgeniya starts yelling and throwing things, then, she punched me in the face, twice. I try to back away, cause I will never hit a woman, no matter how much she hits me. She chases me around the kitchen throwing glasses at my head and I run into a nearby bedroom and shut the door, but her leg gets in the way. I am finally able to shut the door tight and lock it and I stay in there for the rest of the day. I call my agent and he informs me to pack her bags and move her out of my penthouse and he will set her up in a hotel so she can go back to Russia in a few days. Patrick Roy also informs me to avoid her. I move her bags out and I go to hang with a few guys at the bar. Then she texts me telling me that she is taking me to court.

End of Flashback...(This part of the chapter I am just making up. There is no real information now.)

I finish telling my story and we will find out if I am innocent or guilty. Evgeniya is a lier considering that her friend recorded a phone conversation between them when she admitted that she hit me first and also, it was pointed out that she didn't have any injuries or bruises that are from what she claimed I did. I grab my jacket and leave the courthouse. I am feeling really nervous about the result. Do I win? Or do I lose?
"Hey! Mommy, mommy, it's the man that beat he's girlfriend!" says a little girl that walks by me.
"Yes, honey, don't go near him now," says the mother as she pushes her child along quickly. My life is ruined. Evgeniya comes out of the courthouse with a grin on her face.
"You're going down. That's what you get for being an asshole," she says as she walks to her car.
"Don't listen to her. You did nothing wrong," I say to myself. I really didn't do anything to deserve this. I need to avoid her at all costs. My lawyer is next to exit the courthouse and we walk to my car to go to the Pepsi Center.
"I have a good feeling about this," he says.
"Yeah, I have had better feelings," I mumble under my breath. I am not in a good mood and I am very scared that she is going to win.
"There is no way she can win this. They have evidence against her. It was all in that phone conversation she had with her friend. Thank god that was recorded," he says breathing a sign of relief.
"People always take the woman's side in stuff like this. Women need to be punished for lying about this stuff," I say angrily.
"Look, I know you're upset, but focus on driving please," says my lawyer. He is always so worried when other people drive.
"What if I don't win?"
"Look, Sem, you did nothing wrong."
"What if people don't believe that?"
"They will. There is enough proof that you are innocent, people just need to see it and we made sure that happens."
We arrive at the Pepsi Center. Some of the guys are already here. I can't wait to get on the ice and forget all about this. I need to find a happy place, and that happy place is on the ice. I get out of the car and head to the locker room with my lawyer who speaks to the coach who is standing outside the locker room. This practice is open to the public, which I wonder if they are on my side or Evgeniya's. I get all geared up and head out to the ice. The fans just glare at me not knowing what to think. They must think that there is a possibility that I did it, and there is a possibility that I didn't. Nathan Mackinnon skates up to me. He looks like he feels bad. I just drop to my knees and lean against the boards.
"Hey. I see you're feeling sorry for yourself. Dude, me and Gabe saw the whole thing. I think Dutchy was watching too. I saw Gabe and Dutchy talking while Gabe watches you, and I watched you from the other side. You did nothing wrong. They will see that and they will let you go," says Nathan as he sits next to me.
"What if they don't? What if I don't win? What if what they have isn't enough to prove me innocent?" I say as a tear rolls down my cheek.
"Look buddy, you're going to win. Russia even knows you didn't do it considering the fact that they aren't letting that girl over their borders. People will see that she is lying," he says putting his arm around me. Dutchy notices and skates over with Gabe. They sit near me.
"Everything is going to be okay," says Dutchy putting a hand on my shoulder.
"It's tough for a normal girl like her to take down a hockey team like the Colorado Avalanche," says Gabe reassuring.
"You guys are right. Nothing to be worried about. This is all just very stressful and over whelming," I say as I stand up. My teammates stand up with me.
"That's the spirit," says Nathan. I head over to my net to take a few shots. Dutchy, Gabe and Nathan are passing the puck back n forth until they want to take the shot. I am feeling much better after my conversation with my teammates. They always know what to say. Just as I thought my day couldn't get any worse, I look towards the players tunnel behind the bench...

Notes

Once again, I do not own any of the players, info, etc........ Please comment and subscribe! I think this story will get much better. In real life, I did read the articles on the court case and they really did find the stuff that I mentioned in the FLASHBACK portion of this chapter. Chapter 2 will also contain some of the court stuff, but that will just be a jurisdiction (Just FYI, I'm not really sure how court works, and I don't remember if Semyon had a trial by jury. So this is just in front of a jury to make things easier.) Any chapter after chapter 2 will not contain any court information, but this trial will be brought up, but just briefly. I hope you all stick around for the next chapter!
