Becoming a Family Man

*Patricks' Place*

Johnny and Patrick live together, so they had a few of the guys over after a long day of practice. They all just hung out, played video games and had a few drinks. Patrick was on Facebook checking on how his friends and family, back home in Buffalo, were doing.

John sat down next to Kane handing him a new beer, "What're you looking at? How're your sisters doing?"
"Just looking at fb. They're doing good! Jackie's gotta boyfriend so I need to check and make sure she's doing alright haha" Patrick said sipping his beer
John pointed out Kaner's ex, "Hey isn't she your ex? Is that her little brother?"
"No, she doesn't have one or not that I know of, just an older brother Matt. Could be her cousin? I don't know. I want to go to lunch with her though, she looks just as gorgeous as she did in High school" Patrick said messaging her

*Messenger*
Patrick: Hey it's been awhile, how are you?
Amanda: Hey! I'm doing really well! How are you? Congrats on the big Stanley Cup win!
Patrick: Haha thanks! I'm doing really good! So I know this is really random, but do you want to get lunch or something tomorrow?
Amanda: Yeah I'd love to! I have something's I need to catch you up on!
Patrick: Sounds good! Tomorrow at that Italian restaurant you like downtown?
Amanda: Sounds perfect! See you tomorrow!!

"Haha way to go Kaner, you got a date tomorrow!" Johnny teases him
Patrick shuts his laptop, "Oh shut up, we're just hanging out."
Shaw jumps in on the chirping, "Aww Kaner you gotta date? That's so cuteeee haha where you taking her? Who wants to make a bet they'll be back here fucking within 2 hours of the date?"
Sharp, Crawford, Keith and Seabrook bet $50 each on how long it'd take.
"Shut up! I'm not going to do that! Just lunch I swear!" Patrick said blushing

*With Amanda*

Hayes was at football practice, and Amanda was talking with the other parents while they practiced. The boys were doing really well. Once Practice was up, Amanda grabbed Hayes' school bag and waited for him at the front of the school.

"Hey babe! You did so well in practice today! How'd school go?" Amanda asked giving her son a hug
Hayes hugged his mom back, "It was good. What're we eating for dinner? I'm really hungry and craving steak."
"You're uncle made you some steak babe and some veggies." Amanda said leaving out her date with Patrick
"Okay mom. Can we stop by Chick Fil A and get a milkshake on the way home?" Hayes asked
"Of course sweetie!" Amanda said

Hayes and Amanda get home and Hayes runs upstairs to go shower and change into clean clothes. Amanda and her brother, Matt (idk if she actually has a brother IRL). While Hayes is getting showered and dressed Amanda tells her brother about Patrick.

"So guess who messaged me today?" Amanda said setting the table
Matt asked, "Who?"
"Patrick Kane, remember him?" Amanda said
Matt talked quieter, "Patrick Kane as in Hayes' dad Patrick Kane?"
"Yeah. He asked me to lunch tomorrow" Amanda said sitting on the counter
Matt leaned against the counter across from her, "Um does he know he's Hayes' dad? Or do you plan on leaving that out tomorrow?"
"I haven't decided but he does need to know. And who knows, if things work out it'd be nice for Hayes to have his father in his life." Amanda said
"Mom! Can you wash my gear? It smells really bad." Hayes yelled running downstairs

The three of them ate dinner and talked about their days and Hayes' football practice. Hayes helped clear the table and finished up his homework then went to bed.

*The next day with Amanda*

"Hayes you need to get up and get ready for school! I have all your gear washed and in your football bag and I packed your lunch!" Amanda yelled from the bottom of the stairs
Hayes walked downstairs half asleep, "I'm up I'm up. Thank you, love you mom I'll see you later"
"Text me when you're done with school and I'll let you know if your uncle Matt or I are picking you up from practice ok?" Amanda said hugging and giving Hayes a kiss
Hayes hugged his mom, "Okay love you mom"

Once Hayes left, Amanda cleaned up the house then showered. After she got ready she heard her phone ringing and picked it up

*On the Phone with Patrick*
Patrick: Hey how are you?
Amanda: Hey I'm good! How're you?
Patrick: Good! Ready for lunch?
Amanda: Yes! I'm heading out now! I'll meet you there!
Patrick: Okay! Drive safe and see you soon

*At the Restaurant*

Patrick was waiting for Amanda to show up. He was nervous and kept tapping his feet, he kept checking the entrance of the restaurant and when he looked up again he saw Amanda. She hadn't changed one bit, she was absolutely gorgeous.

"Amanda! Hey you look absolutely gorgeous, you haven't changed a bit" Patrick said giving her a hug
Amanda hugged him back, "Hey you don't look too bad yourself"
Patrick laughed, "Thanks wanna go sit down?"
"Of course!" Amanda said following Patrick
Patrick pushed her chair in then sat down, "It's been awhile huh" Patrick said
"Yeah it has haha What made you ask me to lunch? If you don't mind me asking" Amanda asked
"Um I was on Facebook and I saw you with a younger kid and saw how great you looked and knew it had been awhile so I thought we'd catch up" Patrick said
Amanda asked, "Blue eyed brown hair kid?"
Patrick nodded his head, "That's the one. I figured he was your cousin or Matts' kid"
Amanda looked down at her hands
"What's wrong?" Patrick asked
"Ummm I didn't want to say this the first time we met in 13 years but umm..." Amanda didn't make eye contact with Patrick, "That young man is your kid...."
