Chapter 3- Pittsburgh Pandemonium

Later that evening, Liss and Jake had some of the guys over for the Pittsburgh Pirates game. It would be the last day, aside from the parade, that they would all be hanging out until preseason in late September. Liss was excited to have time off, even though she loved her job and of course, the pay. She was planning on a two-night girls' getaway to Atlantic City at some point with her best friend Bailey from back home and was excited.

"So, when is the wedding again?" Sidney Crosby asked, looking over at teammate Carl Hagelin and his fiancee, Erica.

Erica smiled, "August 4th. We are so excited. I can't believe it's happening so soon."

"It's going to be one hell of a party. I'm stoked," Patric Hornqvist grinned. He was Carl's best friend, and one of his best men. Of course, Carl's brother Bobbie, was the other.

While everyone chatted up in the living room prior to first pitch, Liss was in the kitchen making some little appetizers to eat (And yes, the guys ordered a bunch of food too) with Sidney's girlfriend Kathy, Phil Kessel's sister Amanda, and Kris Letang's wife Catherine.

"So, how are things going with Jake?" Amanda asked as she placed some food in the oven to bake.

Liss felt herself blushing, "He's amazing. He makes me really happy. I never felt this way before."

"He's a really sweet guy. He was just always so hesitant about dating because his high school girlfriend cheated on him after he was drafted," Kathy added.

"Yeah, what a shame. Heard she was a flake, and now, she's working at the sketchy motel twenty miles away," Catherine added.

Liss looked over at her boy and mumbled to herself, "How could anyone hurt you?"

-------------------------------------------

"Okay, bye! See you guys tomorrow at the parade!" Liss waved, closing and locking the front door.

Everyone had left, leaving just Liss and Jake in the house. She walked over to the kitchen and it was a mess with paper plates, plastic cups, pizza boxes, and takeout containers everywhere. It was close to 11 at night, and she was exhausted. Plus, they had to get up around 8 the next morning to make it to the parade route by the start time of 9:15.

Liss started to clean up when she felt two big muscular arms around her waist, "Mmm, hey you. What's up?"

Jake spun her around and kissed the bridge of her nose, "Don't clean up. I need to have you. It was so hard hiding my feelings with the guys around. That cutoff Pirates tee looks so good on you."

"Baby, you know I want you too, but we have to clean up and go to sleep. We have a long morning tomorrow. Can't it wait until we go to Cape Cod on Friday?" Liss asked, yawning every five second.

"Me? Wait until Friday to have my girl? Oh gosh no, I can't. You're so beautiful and perfect," Jake said.

Liss couldn't stop herself from yawning. She looked deep into his eyes, "Five seconds of making out. Will that satisfy you?"

"Let's try it out," Jake answered.

The minute their lips touched, fireworks ensued. Liss just had to have him, forgetting everything she had just said. She felt herself falling backwards on the longer end of their sofa, him immediately falling on top of her. Once his lips touched her neck, she lost it, "Fuck me, Jake. Do it. Please."

"I am so crazy about you, Liss. I need you. I don't want us to be some fling. I got you a special gift," Jake said.

"You didn't have to! I don't need anything," Liss added.

Jake sat up, reached into his pocket, and pulled out the most heartwarming gift. It was a necklace, but the charm on the necklace was a mini version of the Conn Smythe trophy, which he won during the Stanley Cup finals, "I had a jeweler in the area make this. I want you to always have this."

Liss felt tears well up in her eyes, "Jake, it's beautiful. I absolutely love it."

"There's one more thing. Liss, I really am so happy with you. I love you. I don't want to look at another girl ever again. Will you, please do me the honor, and be my girlfriend?" Jake asked, looking in her eyes with barely a blink.

"Jake, I have waited so long to hear those words. Of course I will," Liss smiled, as he put on her necklace.

Jake turned on the fireplace and the new couple made love for a majority of the night. They were both so high on cloud nine, sleep was inevitable. They made plans to visit both their respective families over the summer to announce their relationship as well as have a romantic getaway to Spain for a week. Pittsburgh: the city of steel, back-to-back Stanley Cup champions, and a relationship that blossomed out of sure pandemonium.
