One-Shot Stories

It was about five days prior to the start of the 2017-18 NHL season and Ashley was ready for the next chapter of her life to begin. She is currently attending New York University to earn her Masters degree in Chemistry, as she has loved Science since the age of five being that her father was a biologist. She is also a diehard New York Rangers fan and had tickets to the season opener on October 5th at Madison Square Garden.

At NYU, Ashley and her roommate Kelsey, were working on some lab assignments prior to going to a frat party that was on campus tonight. Ashley and Kelsey weren't really party girls, but it was Kelsey's boyfriend that was throwing the affair, so they felt obligated to go.

"Is everything going to be okay tonight girl?" Ashley worried.

Kelsey looked at her friend, "Of course it is. I trust Brady completely. It'll be fine and he's not a jerk like most guys."

"I...I just get nervous. Partying can become so dangerous, so fast. I get freaked out about guys I don't know and a lot of alcohol," Ashley said.

"I know it is all hard on you. It will be fun, though. If you feel uncomfortable at any time, we can leave. I promise," Kelsey re-assured. "I swear."

Ashley let out a big sigh, "Alright, fine. I trust you."

Later that night, Ashley and Kelsey arrived at the fraternity house for the party. Ashley was still on edge, but trusted her friend. They've known each other since they were seventeen and bonded over their nerdy love for Science. While Kelsey met with her boyfriend and another couple friends, Ashley just danced by herself while grabbing a cup of beer.

"Hey, you're pretty gorgeous. Who are you?" a male voice asked.

Ashley looked up and nearly fainted. Her favorite hockey player, Rangers center Kevin Hayes, was standing in front of her, "Oh my goodness, hi there Kevin. I'm Ashley. I'm actually a huge fan of the Rangers. I have tickets to opening night."

"Very cool. Let's go outside and talk," Kevin suggested.

"Okay!" Ashley exclaimed. She turned to yell to Kelsey, "I'll be back soon girl!"

Kelsey nodded, "See you later!"

Kevin took Ashley to a bench that was in front of a fountain near the entrance to the school. It was a beautiful fall night with a simple breeze. Just perfection in every sense. Ashley couldn't believe she was with her favorite hockey player from her favorite hockey team.

"You know, I have heard a lot about you. I'm best buddies with Brady and Kelsey told me about your struggles with dating. You are such a beautiful girl. How could any guy not want you?" Kevin asked, playing with her hair.

Ashley immediately felt herself blushing, "You're sweet. It's a very long and painful story. My past just never made me feel good enough for guys. I didn't like the way I looked. It's just been really hard."

"Well, I believe you are very beautiful. My ex Olivia and I constantly broke up because she was receiving death threats for dating me. It got really bad and we even had to ban some fans from the Garden because she still supports me, so it's hard," Kevin admitted.

"Wow. I am so sorry to hear that. No player nor his ex should receive that treatment from so-called fans. That is so heartbreaking Kevin," Ashley said. She felt so bad for him.

Kevin looked up in her beautiful sparkling blue eyes, "Eh, it's okay. As long as they don't do it anymore, it's alright. Now come on, I haven't see you smile once. I'm sure you have a gorgeous one."

"Oh...I don't smile a lot. It's another part of me that I just don't like. It's really hard," Ashley shied away.

Kevin lifted his fingers up and tickled the sides of her until she smiled, which eventually happened, "There it is! I knew I'd get it out of you. Ashley...I know we just met, but. C-Can I kiss you?"

Ashley was in complete shock as to what was just asked. Instead of finding the words, she simply nodded her head. Kevin leaned in and kissed her as gently as possible. Ashley felt herself deepening the kiss and just craved him. To her, it was just Kevin, not New York Rangers' star Kevin Hayes.

Once Kevin pulled away, he looked at her again, "Would you like to go back to my apartment?"

"Absolutely," Ashley whispered. This would pave the way for a night Ashley always wanted.
