Chapter Eleven
"I'm sorry, what was that?" I asked as I looked at the red faced Russian standing in front of me looking completely nervous, and he was making me nervous.

"I um, was wondering," he said and then rubbed the back of his neck, said something in Russian and then looked at my confused face, "Would you like to go out?"

"Um, like to dinner?" I asked and Geno nodded his head.

"Yes, to dinner," he said and then gave me this adorable grin, "Like date?"

I blushed and then looked down, "Um, sure, when?"

Geno's face lit up and he looked at his watch, "We have press conference and practice tomorrow, then away game Thursday night, come home next day, so that night?" he asked shyly and I looked at my phone to see that it was late Tuesday night, I had come to the arena after my shift at work to pick the kids up, but when I started to watch the game, I got so into it, I lost track of time and ended up staying for the whole game. I was happy to see that the Penguins were keeping up their winning streak after beating the Capitals, two to one.

"So Friday night?" I asked and Geno nodded his head, "All right? Say seven? I don't normally get home until five thirty, six."

"I pick you up," he said and I gave a shy smiled and nodded my head.

"All right," I said and heard Missy and Jake running down the hall towards me.

"Auntie, Uncle Ian wants to go!" Jake said as he grabbed one of my hands and Missy
grabbed the other, "Bye Geno!"

"Bye Geno," I smiled as I was being drug away by the two munchkins, '...I'm going on a date with Geno...' I smiled brightly as I was brought towards where my brother was standing waiting for us.

"What are you so happy about?" he asked and I blushed and shook my head, "Whatever," Ian laughed, "Come on, it's late and I'm tired."

"Auntie, can we get ice cream?" Jake asked and I scoffed.

"It's after ten and you have school in the morning! You shouldn't even be up this late!" I said as I placed my hand on his back and pushed him into my side as we walked into the players parking lot and looked to see that there were some press out.

"Aww, then can I have some when I get home?" Jake whined and I shook my head.

"It's too late for sweets, Jake, you're going to bed when you get home," I said and then
placed Jake and Missy into their car seats in Ian's car and then walked over towards mine that was parked next to his, "Meet you home?"

"All right," he said and then climbed into his car.

It was the middle of March and the boys were in the middle of a ten game winning streak. Not much has really changed, on Saturdays, Vero and I have been getting together and going to breakfast together, sometimes the kids come, but that' only if Ian's on the road, if he's not, I have him watch them while I'm gone for an hour or so. Vero and I have become even better friends and she has finally gotten the chance to meet Missy and Jake. Her stomach was getting bigger and she was eight months pregnant. Work was the same, except I've been given a raise, for doing so much and being liked by many people, I was happy about bringing more money in.

I pulled into the driveway and then into the garage, Ian pulled in behind me and then closed the door. Missy and Jake had fallen asleep on the way home, Ian had grabbed Jake and I had grabbed Missy. We walked into the house and into the hallway to be greeted by a sleeping Rocko. When we walked past our snoring Rottweiler, he growled a little and then kicked his feet around.

"What a guard dog," Ian snorted and I smirked and shook my head.

We brought the kids up to their rooms, got them ready for bed and then left them to sleep. I decided to work on the laundry tomorrow night and decided to head to my room and get some sleep since it was pretty late.

During the middle of the night, I was woken up by the home alarm going off. I looked towards my clock to see that it was just after two in the morning. I shot out of bed and ran out of my room to already see Ian running into Missy and Jake's room, they were awake and screaming, not knowing what was going on.

"Stay with them!" Ian yelled as I ran into the room and saw that Ian was holding onto Rocko's collar.

"Ian, what are you-"

"Stay with them!" he yelled and then ran out of the room and closed the door behind him.

I ran over, locked the door and then headed back over towards Missy's bed, Jake had jumped onto her bed and was hugging her. I moved the two of them onto my lap and wrap my arms around them. Rocko was lying on the bed next to us staring that the door, growling lowly. I tried to calm everyone down so that we could be quiet, giving me the opportunity to hear if something happens. The phone rang, I could hear it, but the kids didn't have a phone in their room, so there was no way for me to get to it. When the phone stopped ringing I had hoped that Ian got it.

"Auntie, I'm scared," Missy said and I kissed her head and rubbed her arm.

"It'll be all right," I said and then rubbed both of their backs.

I heard someone coming up the stairs and then stiffened, the door to the kids room opened and the kids screamed. I breathed a sigh of relief when Ian walked through the door, the kids ran to him and he bent down and hugged them.

"It's all right, nothing seems to be wrong," Ian said and I looked at him to see that he was lying, "The wiring was just off, everything is all right."

"Are you sure?" Jake cried and Ian smirked, kissed Jake's head and nodded his.

"Everything is all right, go back to bed," Ian said and Jake took Missy's hand and guided towards her be.

I smiled towards them and then tucked them back into bed, called for Rocko to follow me and then walked into the hallway, closing the kids' door behind me to let them fall back asleep.

"What's going-" Ian placed his hand over my mouth and then grabbed my wrist and started to walk down the stairs.

"I saw this when I was looking for any evidence of someone trying to break in," Ian said as we walked towards the front door, opened it and had a flash light shined in my face. I cursed because the people scared me and I grabbed onto my brother's arm.

"We got a call from a security company saying that your burglar alarm was going off," the man said.

"Can you move the light? I can't see," Ian said and then light moved and I saw that there were two police officers standing in front of us.

"Are you the owners of the house?" the officers asked and I nodded my head and felt Ian move in front of me.

"Someone tried to break into our home," Ian said and then pushed me back into the house and asked the one officer to follow him.

I stared down at the ground awkwardly and had my arms around me, I didn't know what to do. I looked at the clock on the wall and saw that it was almost three, I mentally cursed because I needed to be up in three hours and I was going to be tired.

"Are you and your husband the-"

"He's my brother," I corrected the second officer that continued to stand by me as the other walked off.

"Your brother, sorry," he said and I nodded my head, "Are you the only ones in the house?"

"No, we have two children asleep upstairs," I answered and he started to write down the information.

"Ok, can you tell me what happened?" he asked as he jotted some more things down. I sighed and then leaned against the doorframe.

"I woke up to the alarm going off, I ran into the kids room, Ian told me to stay with the kids and he ran off, I waited for him to come back," I told, "He could tell you everything else, I'm sorry, I'm not much help."

"It' all right," he smiled towards me, "You were helpful."

'...No I wasn't...' I thought as I saw Ian and the other officer walking back.

"We found footprints, I'm going to call it in," the one officer that was with Ian had said.

"Sar, why don't you go to bed, I'll handle this," Ian said and I nodded my head and then said thanks to the officers and turned around.

I walked up the stairs and heard whispering in Jake and Missy's room, I sighed knowing that they were still awake. I walked towards their door that was opened a crack, looked inside and saw that Jake was sitting on Missy's bed telling her that he would stay with her since she was scared. I smiled and then pulled away, looking down to see Rocko walking up the stairs, he pushed his face against the door and walked into the room, I always felt better when Rocko slept with the kids.

I sighed and then turned away and walked towards my room, looking at the clock to see that it was past three in the morning. I climbed back into the bed, laid on my back and stared at the ceiling, I was only running on at least two hours of sleep and even though I was really tired, I couldn't seem to fall asleep.

'...Work is going to suck...'
