It all started in Dallas

Jake and Leila were quickly plannin their wedding as they wanted to get married by June. Things at work were goin well for you and Jake, especially for you, you had received a promotion with higher pay, now in charge of new police officers whom just graduated from the police academy. It was the week before Valentine’s Day where you and Sid had talked about not being able to spend that day together, as he was goin to be on the road. For you Valentine’s Day was just another day, you had the day off but had let your boss know if he needed anyone to cover you’d be there. Things with Sid were goin okay, somehow you both were so busy that you hadn’t really sat down to talk about what Sid had told you at the New Year’s day party.

“Any plans for V-day?” Casey asked as you guys chilled inside the car while eatin a snack. Jake and Leila were away in Texas visitin his family.
“Nah, Sid’s away that week, it’s like whatever though, I’ve always been alone on Valentine’s day” you said
“How are things going anyways?”
“Not bad but not great, to be honest I don’t know how longer it may last”
“Why?” Casey asked more serious and shocked
“We haven’t talked about what he said, I know its nothin because either way for me its too soon to even think of him proposin, it just hurt a bit that he thought that” you said, “it seems nothin which is why I haven’t brought it up to him and frankly I don’t feel like talkin to him about it either”
You guys then got a call on some disturbance that was occurin down a few blocks from where you guys were.
You lighted up the lights and headed on to your destination
When you guys got there it was a couple that was arguin loud on the street, you were able to calm them down and communicate calmly about their situation.
Casey and you headed out back to the department to clock out from your shift.

You were driving home when you got a call from Sid, you answered and put him on speaker.
“Hey baby, how was work?” he said
“Not bad, just got out, headin home, how are you?”
“Good, would you like to have dinner with the team and I tonight?”
“Yeah sure, let me just go home to change”
“Great, meet me at my place” he said
You headed home to change into casual clothes and headed out to Sid’s. There was somethin about drivin to his place that always made you nervous but gave you butterflies too.
When you pulled up you saw the driveway was full with cars, sure enough the team was there.
You walked through the back gate as you heard music playing softly, as soon as you walked in everyone came up to greet you. You felt like family with them and it made you wish even more that things with Sid would never end.
“Hey girl!” one of the wives said, “you’re looking great!” she said as she hugged and kissed you on the cheek
“Why thank you! Goin to the gym has it’s perks haha”
“Sid’s inside” she said as she motioned towards the house. You went inside and saw Sid with some of the guys watching a hockey game. You said hi to everyone and kissed Sid as you sat down next to him.
You were watchin the game meanwhile texting Casey about what plans you guys should do for Jake’s bachelor party. You guys were also talkin about work as you guys were in charge of the rookies as well and had a case that had kept you guys on your toes so far.
Sid was side-eyein as your phone kept buzzin. Then you saw that your boss was callin you, you hesitated as you knew what that meant.
“Excuse me sorry” you said to everyone as you headed towards the kitchen, “hey chief what’s goin on?” you answered your call.
“Hey I know you just got out from work but the case is moving in great direction on our part, you need to come in so we can plan ahead more” he said
“Be right there sir” you said as you headed back to the den to get your purse.
“Sidney, I have to go” you whispered to him, he looked at you as he thought you were joking at first and then asked, “Really, (Y/N), you literally just got here” he said more serious.
“I know that Sidney, but I have to go” you snapped back a little. Sid rolled his eyes a bit but got up to walk you out of the house. You said your goodbyes to everyone as you told all of them “duty calls” when they looked at you confused for leavin so soon.
“Baby, we haven’t had much time to be together” Sid said
“I know, I’m sorry on my end, job’s kinda kickin my ass with the new promotion and this case we’re workin on” you said to Sid softly, “I promise we’ll see each other soon, we can have another movie night” you said, “maybe this time alone” you added as you kissed Sid goodbye
“I’d like that” Sid said as he smiled, more at ease.

Unfortunately, you and Sid never got that day to spend together as your schedules were conflicting. It was the day of Valentine’s when you were on your own but then received a call from work to come in. Sid was supposed to get home late from a road trip so you knew you weren’t goin to see him which was why you accepted the extra hours. You were patrollin around with a rookie as you showed them the ways of Pittsburgh. Things were goin at ease with a few calls here and there but nothin that was dangerous. Sid had texted you that day sayin happy valentine’s day but you were a bit sad at the fact that he hadn’t sent anythin to you, you weren’t big on recievin gifts but you had expected him to do at least somethin thoughtful.
You and your partner were just finishin up lunch when you received a call from Sid.
“Hey Sidney, how are you doin?” you answered your phone
“UHm good, where are you?” he asked as you heard shufflin in the background
“I’m at work, why?”
“I thought you had today off” he said a bit frustrated
“I did, but I got called in, why are you askin me?”
“Well I got an early flight and I’m here at your house” he said
“You know where the key is at, what are you doin there anyways?”
“Uhhh its Valentines day remember???”
“I know what day it is, go ahead and make yourself at home, but I’m not off until like 4 hours from now”
“So you want me to leave?” he asked
“No Sidney” you sighed, “I’m just givin you a heads up on how long I’ll be out here for, don’t want you wastin your time”
“You think I’m wasting time when you’re my girlfriend?” he asked
“No, I just...I don’t know, just didn’t expect you’d come home early” you said, “look I gotta go, just received a call” you added.
“Alright, bye” he said a bit annoyed
“Word of advice, don’t date when you’re a cop” you said sarcastically to your partner as you lit up the lights to your next destination.

You got out from work at around 3am, you were exhausted from workin back-to-back shifts these past 5 days, you were definitely lookin forward to your day off. You weren’t expectin Sid to be there but you hoped he was. You now lived on your own as Jake had moved out with Leila in their own new house a few blocks from your house. You admitted it was nice to have a house to yourself as you could decorate it however you wanted it. When you pulled up to your house, you saw that no one was there, which disappointed you a bit. Then, when you unlocked the door you saw rose petals on the floor leading towards the kitchen. There were flowers, a card, and a gift on the table. However, to your right there was Sid sound asleep on the couch, the tv on to of course hockey. He was dressed in suit and next to him was his suitcase, one of the boys must’ve dropped him off on their way from the airport. You went upstairs to put on your pjs and then headed back down to the living room to put a blanket on Sid. You laid on the smaller couch and knocked out in less than 5 minutes.

You woke up and saw it was bright as heck outside, you looked up to see Sid watchin tv.
“What time is it? You asked groggily
“Well good morning to you too haha, it’s 11:30”
“Ooh my GOD” you said as you got up to go brush your teeth and shower
When you got out you kissed Sid and asked if he had any plans for the day as you made yourself some breakfast
“Nope I already had practice so I have the day off to myself, or to us” he said as he smiled
“Good, let’s watch a movie or whatever you’re watchin” you said as you sat back down on the couch
“You’re not going to sit next to me?” he said as he patted the empty space next to him
“Reallyyyy Sidney” you chuckled but got up to sit next to him
“Much better” he said
You guys had a relaxing movie day that you had both needed for yourselves and together as a couple.
You’d been thinkin a lot about takin the next level with Sid, however it still scared you because it had been so long since you’d been with anyone intimately. But you didn’t want to not thanks things to the next level so you thought of somethin.
“I have an idea” you said as you headed up to grab your purse, “lets go babe” you said to Sid
“Where are we going?” he asked but gettin up to follow you anyway
“You’ll see”
You got in your truck and turned on your Spotify playlist as you waited for Sid to jump in.
You headed out from the city, up towards the hills, that’s when Sid knew where you guys were headed
“Ohhh I see now” he said as he turned to smile at you and grab your right hand
When you pulled up you got out of the truck and put down the tailgate while coverin it with some blankets to get cozy. Sid sat next to you and you guys sat quietly for a while as you oversaw the city. About five minutes in was when you broke the silence.
“Uhhh Sidney” you said almost in question
“Yeah (Y/N)?”
“I’ve been thinkin about it a lot...I uhhh... I would like to…”
“Spit it out hahha” he said teasin you
“I….uhh… would like to take things to the next level with...you” you said as you kind of scooted a bit away from him. Sid looked at you almost in shock but stayed silent for a second, as if collectin his thoughts
“You don’t feel like I’m pressuring you do you?” he said seriously
“No not at all, I wouldn’t be bringin it up if I felt that way”
“Okay good” he said as he kissed you, “you know no matter how long you make me wait, it won’t change my feelings about you, I love you, no matter what” he said as he turned back to look at the city
“I know, I’m startin to see that now, there’s a catch though”
“Mhmm?”
“I don’t want to get on birth control”
“Well we can always do the old-school thing”
“Pullin out?!”
“No silly! A condom” he looked at you tryin not to laugh, “but if I knock you up, don’t blame it on me” he teased
“Shushhhh, like you would hate that” you said chucklin
“Mhmm” he said
“So where to?” you said
“What?”
“Your place or mine?” you asked
“Ohh you want to start now?” he said gettin up
“I mean yeahhh” you said shyly
Sid grabbed the keys from your hand and picked you up as he threw you back in the truck
With that you knew it was Sid’s place.
