Trouble in the King's Court

Chapter 11

The Rangers were now one win away from the elusive Stanley Cup title and the entire team was so excited about possibly bringing the famed trophy home to New York after a long twenty-four year hiatus. Everyone in Manhattan was buzzing and they couldn't wait until the next game. The boys in blueshirts were looking forward to hopefully clinch the cup at home in two days.

Today, the team had skate up in Greenburgh. Therese also made the decision to stay in New York with her daughters pending Henrik's upcoming evaluation in a couple weeks. She also hired a new nanny to help her out, but still accepted Aly into the girls' lives. It has been quite the roller coaster, but things seemed to be coming back to normal.

While the Rangers practiced, Aly went out to lunch with Kristina in the city for a girls' day out. Her friend was home from college for the summer, but frequently visited Manhattan. They were pretty lucky to have one another.

"Aly? Are you okay? You're barely eating," Kristina asked, eating her pasta.

"I'm not sure, girl. I haven't felt good. I'm always queasy and nothing stays down. Maybe it's just a stomach bug," Aly suggested.

Kristina nodded, "Well, you are prone to them. I'm sure it'll be okay. Order a bowl of soup. That may help."

Even the soup didn't agree with Aly. She knew something had to be wrong, but just couldn't pinpoint it. She had been under a lot of stress lately, but that wouldn't cause her to not keep food down.

"Okay girl, something's definitely wrong. We need to figure this out. I'm worried," Kristina said.

"But what the hell is it?" Aly freaked.

"Let's go to the hospital and find out. You need some testing done," Kristina answered. Being the daughter of a nurse, that was Kristina's first instinct. She took Aly to Lenox Hill Hospital's emergency room and she was immediately brought to a room.

"What brings you in today?" the doctor questioned.

Aly held her stomach, "Nausea, vomiting, unable to keep any solid food down. Bloated. Cranky."

"Well, the city is experiencing a norovirus outbreak, but let's do some bloodwork just to see," the doctor replied. He drew about three tubes of blood from her, hoping for nothing serious.

About thirty minutes later, the doctor returned. Kristina perked up upon seeing him, "Is she okay?"

"She and the baby are just fine," the doctor smiled.

Aly sighed, "Well, that's....wait. Baby? What baby?"

"Your baby. You're ten weeks pregnant. I'll be back with your discharge papers," the doctor answered.

Kristina grabbed Aly's hand, "I'm going to be an aunt! Holy shit!"

"P-pregnant? I'm pregnant. Oh my god," Aly whispered.

"This is so exciting!" Kristina exclaimed.

Later that night, after Kristina went home, Aly knew she had to tell her boyfriend. With everything going on, a baby was the last thing she needed. Of course, she wanted to be a mom, but not now. She was so nervous about so much.

Chris walked into their apartment around 8:30 after dinner with the boys. He saw his girlfriend sitting on the couch, watching baseball and eating a bunch of Italian food. She was glued to the TV. He slipped off his sneakers and glided next to her, "Hey beautiful. Is any of this for me?"

"Huh? Oh yeah. Chicken parm and pasta is over there. I ate all the breadsticks," Aly said, not taking her eyes off the TV.

Chris chuckled and grabbed the to-go container and started eating, "Yum. So, what did you do today?"

"Lunch with Kristina. Got sick and went to the doctor. We're ten weeks pregnant," Aly mumbled.

Chris nearly dropped the container, "What did you just say!?"

Aly turned to him at the break, "We're having a baby. I was sick all day and Kristina took me to the hospital. I'm pregnant."

"Babe, this is amazing! I'm so happy! Gosh, I love you so much," Chris smiled, kissing her.

Would all the good luck be finally coming? Or would things change with Henrik's re-evaluation trial? Wait and see...
