Trouble in the King's Court

Chapter 4

Upon returning home from Orlando, Aly was still hesitant telling Therese about Henrik's actions at the hotel room. She knew she had to, but at the same time, she really wanted to finish grad school plus loved being around his daughters. Juli and Charlise were so easy to take care of and they loved having Aly as their nanny. Kristina promised to come back to Manhattan after school next weekend to sit down with Aly and Therese over what happened in Florida.

It was a gorgeous late spring day in New York City. The Rangers had a home game tonight against the Buffalo Sabres. While Charlise and Juli were having a playdate with Falan McDonagh in Central Park with their moms, Aly attended the team's morning skate at the Garden. Morning skate is never open to the public, but fans do wait outside for pictures and autographs.

Aly was down in the locker room area waiting for practice to wrap up. She did some writing for an online hockey blog and was going to do a story on practice and tonight's game for it. As she looked up to the doorway, expecting Hank, she saw someone else, "Hey there."

The person was Chris Kreider, the team's left winger, "Hey. Aly, right?"

"Yes. So good to see you, Chris," Aly said.

Chris approached her since she was sitting in a chair next to his locker, "Likewise. I heard you're the nanny for Hank's girls. How is that going?"

"Really great. His daughters are so easy to take care of and they are so sweet. I can't wait to have my own someday," Aly answered.

Chris removed his padding, leaving him shirtless and in his playing shorts, "Cool, cool. Listen, uh, wow. Are you doing anything tomorrow night?"

"I don't believe so. Therese said the girls are going to stay with Ryan, Kaylee, and Falan so I believe I have the night off," Aly said.

"Do you want to join me for dinner? We can go to Serafina in Tribeca. It's right near you," Chris asked.

Aly felt herself blushing, "Sure, I'd love to. I love Italian!"

"Great! I'll swing by Henrik's around 5:30 and come get you," Chris smiled.

On the other side of the wall, Henrik overheard what was happening. He became gritty with anger, but didn't let it show since his teammates would be leaving the ice soon. He wanted Aly and he was going to have her.

Later that night, Aly was cooking dinner for the family. She caught herself smiling a bunch of times over Chris asking her out tomorrow night. She was over the moon about it and couldn't wait to get to know him better.

"Aly! I'm hungry," Charlise groaned.

"Almost done, sweetie. The pasta just needs to finish cooking," Aly smiled.

Juli walked over to Aly, "I love you. Please stay with us forever."

"You're so good to them. When are you leaving?" Therese added.

Aly quickly checked her phone, "I'm on track to finish my Masters in May 2019, then MLB Network said I can begin on July 1st. But no rush. I want to enjoy my time here with you guys."

"Well, I can speak for all of us in that we love having you around," Hank said, trying not to smirk with his wife present.

Aly nodded, "Thank you for everything. You guys are more than generous." She picked up the pot and drained the pasta. "Okay, sit down. Two minutes to dinner!"

Is Chris the next person to watch his back? Will he stop Aly and Chris from trying to be together?
