Know My Name

Evelyn groaned as she left the night club early because she wanted to get home to beat the storm, but with her luck, it started pouring as she exited. She stood on the side of the road in hopes of hailing a taxi, but luck had not been on her side. Evelyn did not give up on getting a taxi and stood on the side for what felt like almost ten minutes.

Patrick stumbled out the night club with a blonde female hanging on his arms. He had been drinking, but would not classify himself as drunk quite yet. He wanted to get out of there with his new female friend before she walked away with her friends. Gasping, his female friend detached herself from him stating she was not going out in the rain, and ran back into the night club. Sighing, Patrick did not want to venture back into the club to only get turned down by a woman who did not want to get her hair a little wet. He went to the side of the street and hailed a taxi. He heard a groan not too far from him as he went to pull on the door handle of the taxi that pulled up in front of him. Looking over he noticed a woman grumbling, trying to get attention of a single taxi.

“Hey!” Patrick shouted over the rain, gaining the woman’s attention. “Do you want to share this cab with me?”

Evelyn barely heard his questions, but quickly made her way over to him and into the taxi as he held the door open for her. Shivering, she turned to her savor, only to come face to face with Patrick Kane. One of her favorite Blackhawks players. Sure, they had passed each other a few times when he came in for a few interviews for NBC Chicago, but they had never met before.

“Thanks.” She barely could get it through her mouth with how cold she was.

“No problem,” Patrick gave his dazzling smile, taking in how beautiful she was.

“Where to?” The taxi driver gained their attention.

“1200 West Madison Street,” Patrick answered, looking at the female for her answer, to pay attention to where she lived.

“Same, actually,” Evelyn giggled, gaging Patrick’s reaction to finding out she lived at the same apartment complex as him.

“Really?” He questioned and received a nod and a laugh in answer. He took notice how much she had been shivering and took off his jacket. “Here.”

“N-no, I-I’m f-fine,” she stuttered.

“I insist, please take it,” he held the jacket out to her.

“Thank you, Patrick,” she sighed, putting on the jacket, gaining a grin from the hockey star.

“So, you do know who I am,” he chuckled, admiring her chocolate colored eyes, and the features of her narrow face. He could not deny that she was absolutely stunning.

“I live in Chicago, if I did not know who the Blackhawks were, I think I would have been ran out of the city by now,” she laughed, smiling.

“I think you might just be right,” he chuckled once again. “So, you know my name, what is your name?”

Before she could answer, the taxi driver told them that they have arrived at their destination. Patrick paid for the taxi, much to Evelyn’s dismay, before he got out. Running to the covered part of the front doors, she took off his jacket and handed it over to Patrick who had followed her. Shaking a little, she shivered when a gust of wind hit her exposed shoulders. Saying hello to the door man, she entered the building with him following her.

“Thank you again,” Evelyn smiled at a grinning Patrick.

Patrick watched her walk away from him, finally realizing he never got the woman, who now ascended the stairs, name. He planned on chasing after her, but he lost sight of her when many other people piled into the door to get out of the pouring rain. Sighing, he walked over to the elevator, when he heard his phone going off. Glancing at the screen, he saw Mrs. Toews pop up on his phone, with a smiling red headed woman and toddler staring back at him. She would call after I meet a girl. Patrick laughed at Kaitlyn’s timing.

“Kaner! Jonny-o told me to give you a call because he didn’t want to hear your annoying voice anymore,” Kaite laughed from the other end before he could get a hello out and chuckled when he heard his captain’s voice in the background saying he told her no such thing, followed by an ow. “Shut up you! You did tell me you were annoyed with him this morning at practice.”

“So, you called because?” He drew out the first and last word, wondering why she had called him in the first place.

“Groomsmen duty, of course!” She sounded so excited on the other end. “Have you found that perfect date you keep talking about?”

“No,” Pat sighed, but the face of a soaked woman came into his thoughts. A woman who he had no idea what her name was. “But I did just meet a woman who lives in my building.”

“Ohh! Do tell! What’s her name? What floor does she live on? How’d you meet?” Questions came spilling out of Katie’s mouth quickly.

“I have no idea,” he groaned, as he unlocked his apartment door.

“You have no idea on anything? Not even how you met? But you just said you just met her.”

“I do know how we meet,” he chuckled. “We were at the same night club and I noticed she was trying to hail a cab, so when one pulled up in front of me, I offered to share mine with her. When I told the cabbie my address, she said she lived here too. So, we shared a cab together, but I never got her name, nor apartment number.”

“Patty Cakes! You gotta get these things before she disappears!”

“I know, Katie, but it was pouring out and she rushed up because she was in a strapless dress.”

“Jonny!” He heard her yell at his captain over the line. “We gotta help Patty Cakes find this mystery woman!”

Patrick noticed before he could say a word in response, he heard the beep that notified him that she had ended the call. Kaitlyn has become one of his good friends since she started dating Jon, but sometimes he questioned her sanity. Though, he could not have picked a better match for his captain, other than Adam Burish’s baby sister. She balanced with Jon's personality quite well and he could not wait to be a part of their wedding in a month. Which made his thoughts turn to the mystery woman he met tonight and decided he needed to figure out who she was.

Notes

So, I decided to start my sequel of my Jonathan Toews story, and this is what I got so far! Someone gave me the idea to do it based off of Patrick, so I do. Also, I know I changed it from first person to third person, but I thought this one would do better in third than first. Hope you enjoy this so far, and yes I did play on Caught Into the Storm a little, and had them meet in a down pour ;). PLEASE COMMENT, RATE, AND SUBSCRIBE! :) <3
