Great, One More Egotistical Jerk I Have To Dodge!

No One Goes After My Winger!

*Savvy's POV*

The locker room was buzzing with energy after the win. Not only did we come out on top over our rival, but we managed a shutout as well.
"You up for the club tonight, Savvy?" Mia asks as she's pulling on her dress. "I owe you a drink for kicking that bitch's ass for me after she hit me!" she laughed.
"Yea, I'm game! And no problem girl... no one goes after my winger! You coming Emmy?" I asked as she emerged from the showers.
"Damn right!" she laughed as she started to dig her clothes out of her bag. I never quite understood why they made us dress up after our home games. I mean, it's not like anyone ever saw us. The crowds always cleared out long before we managed to get out of here. However, on nights we decided to go out after the game, it definitely came in handy. I pulled on my heels and turned to Emmy, who still had to get ready.

"Hey girl, I'm gonna go out and get the car ready, make sure it's not buried beneath a mountain of snow... fucking freak snowstorms in October!"
"Awe, best friend! You do love me!" She shrieked, throwing her arms around me.
"Yea, Yea." I said with a laugh as I shrugged into my trench coat and buttoned it up. I walked out of the locker room with my bag hanging off my shoulder, and out of the door leading to the private parking lot. I made it about 2 steps before my heel caught a patch of ice, my hockey bag was thrown to the side a few feet away, and my arms started flailing about trying to regain my balance and failing miserably. I closed my eyes as I started to fall, my only thought at the time being, 'I can't believe a patch of ice is about to take me out!' I suddenly felt 2 arms wrap around me from the side and my fall was quickly halted. I slowly opened one eye to peek at who witnessed and saved me from my 'almost' annihilation, but as soon as I caught a glimpse of the blue eyes, both eyes shot open and I scrambled to stand upright again, albeit with his help.
"You!" I said as soon as I was on my feet again. "What are you still doing here?" I asked, seeing as he was alone.
"I was waiting inside to make sure the crowds had dispersed before going to my car. When I came outside, I saw you slip on the ice." He said with a laugh. "You're a hell of a skater, but you can't walk on it for shit!" he laughed.
"Excuse me, hotshot! You try managing patches of ice in these death traps!" I said rolling my eyes.
"Nah, I'll leave that to you." He said shaking his head with a smile on his face. "Besides, they make your ass look even hotter." He said with a smirk.
My mouth dropped and I just stared at him for a second. "Oh. My. God... You know how some babies were dropped on their head when they were a baby? You were clearly thrown at a wall!" I shrieked causing him to laugh again as I carefully stepped over to where my bag was, and picked it up again.
"You really don't like me, do you?" He asked keeping pace with me as I maneuvered thru the parking lot to my car.
"Gee, what gave you that impression Blondie?" I asked sarcastically as I nearly missed another ice patch.
"Well, I'm pretty sure the endless string of insults was a pretty good clue." He said chuckling a bit.
"Well, hot damn! You're a regular Sherlock Holmes, now aren't you?" I said shaking my head as I clicked the unlock button on my key ring. He picked up the pace a bit to come around in front of me, stopping me short of getting to my car.
"Seriously tho? Why won't you give me a chance?" he said looking directly at me. I didn't even miss a beat.
"Because I don't go out with douchebags." I said as I moved past him and threw my bag in the car.
"You know, most people at least get to know me first before calling me a douchebag." He said with a small laugh.
I turned to him and replied, "I'm not most people."
"I know you're not. Most people can't pull off the kind of skills you can on the ice... Nice hat trick by the way. Be careful driving home Savannah James, I won't be there to catch you if you fall." He said with another laugh as he turned and walked away. I waited a few seconds before I got in my car and drove to get Emmy. The entire time all I could think was 'what game was this kid playing?'
