New Year's Eve: Chicago Style!

After a minute or so, he propped himself up on one elbow above me and brought his other hand up to my face to cup my jaw. I leaned into his touch and I felt my eyelids start to flutter a bit, he was still inside me and I felt so incredibly connected to him, both literally and figuratively speaking. I took a second before I looked back up into his eyes.

“Duncan… that was… wow.” I said barely above a whisper as I smiled at him.

“I always knew we would be great together.” He said with a smile leaning down to give me a gentle kiss, before slowly pulling out of me and moving off of me to the side of the bed to dispose of the condom.

I took a moment to self-evaluate at that point. I tested the muscles in my legs, and shifted my hips a bit to see if I felt any discomfort. I wasn’t an idiot, I knew with Duncan being as large as he was, I was going to have some residual aftermath… it was unavoidable, especially since it had been so long for me. There was definitely a twinge happening as I shifted, but I had felt worse. I gingerly got out of bed and tried like hell to walk gracefully to the adjoining bathroom to clean myself up a bit, which was difficult since my legs still felt like jello. When I went to walk back into the bedroom, Duncan was already under the covers and leaning against the headboard. He turned his head and smiled at me when he heard me open the bathroom door. I took extra care to walk normally back to the bed to join him, but when I went to lay down beside him, I felt a small jolt of pain between my legs and he saw me cringe a bit as I curled up into his side and laid my head on his chest.

“I hurt you.” He said as he started stroking my hair and kissed my the top of my head.
I sighed and turned my head to look into his eyes as I rested my hand on his heart. I could see the worry in his eyes as his eyebrows scrunched together slightly.

“Trust me Duncan, when I look back on this night in the future, it’s not the slight discomfort that I’m going to remember.” I said with a small laugh. He smiled back at me, comforted by my words, and gave me another sweet kiss.

“Are you ok?” he asked me, genuinely concerned.

“I’m perfect.” I said with a smile.

“Yes, you are.” He responded with a chuckle. “Let’s get some sleep, love. You need your rest, and we both have to be up early tomorrow.”

He was right, we did have to be up early. The Sharp's were hosting New Year’s lunch/dinner for the team tomorrow and Duncan and I had volunteered to help cook and set-up weeks ago. I let out a small laugh as we readjusted our positions in the bed so that I was laying on my right side and he was directly behind me. He had his arm draped around my middle over top of the covers and I couldn’t help but think how protected I felt at that moment.

“Goodnight, Annie.” Duncan whispered as he kissed my neck. I couldn’t help the smile that slid onto my face.

“Goodnight, Duncs.” I whispered back.

I couldn’t believe that this was my life. I had the perfect career, the perfect friends, and now… now I had the perfect guy. I ended up falling asleep with a smile on my face. If this was how my new year was starting, I couldn’t wait to see what the rest of the year had in store for me… for us!
