The Love to Live For

Thanksgiving

Olli's POV

I hope her parents liked me last night. It was kinda hard to tell with her dad staring a hole through me. I get it, parents have to be protective of their children. It is still early in the morning, but I can't move seem how Alysha is laying on my shoulder. I just can't sleep. Alysha is so peaceful when she's sleeping. Some of the guys are coming over for Thanksgiving. That is awesome. Maybe it will take away some of those awkward feelings. I feel like me and her dad need to talk a bit more. I slowly move her off me so I can get up to go to the bathroom as her mom quietly walks in.

"Sorry if I woke you. I just trying to get a head start on laundry and cleaning the house before everyone comes over," whispers her mom as she takes Alysha's laundry.

"No, you didn't wake me."

"What are you doing up so early?" says Alysha still half asleep.

"Sorry. Didn't mean to wake you."

"You didn't wake me."

It was almost time for dinner. Everyone started arriving. Patric and Brooke came first then Tanger and Catherine, Sid (which I'm surprised he showed up. I heard him and Tiffany broke up because Tiffany isn't going to school in Pittsburgh anymore), and a few of the other guys came. Everyone brought their own dishes to serve. This is going to be the best Thanksgiving ever. Alysha and her mom made the main course which is obviously the turkey, but they also made mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, corn and pies. Patric and Brooke brought some rolls, Tanger and Catherine brought a cherry pie, Sid brought his famous chicken caesar salad (I say its "famous" because he makes it all the time and everyone loves it), and everyone else brought a dessert. Alysha's little brother looks shocked. He did not expect to have the Penguins in his home.

"Happy birthday, William," says Alysha as she walks over to her little brother.

"This is amazing," shouts Williams as he literally jumps into Alysha's arms.

"We have a birthday present for you," says Alysha as her mom walks over and hands William and envelope. "Open it."

William opens the envelope and pulls out a card. Of course, the card was Pittsburgh Penguins. He opens the card and something falls out of it.

"Pick it up and turn it over," says Alysha's mom recording William as he picks it up.

"A ticket to a Pens game??!?!?!?!" shouts William as he hugs his family.

"It's in Pittsburgh, too. We are flying back with the Penguins tonight to see them play the Flyers tomorrow," says Alysha's mom.

"But, the Penguins are here. Wasn't that my present too?" asks William confused. We are here, but we would have hung out with him even if his mom didn't ask us too. He's a nice kid. He deserves nice things.

"We would have hung out anyways," says Tanger as he puts his hand on Williams shoulder. "Happy birthday lil' man."

William is star struck. I really like seeing this kid happy. He is such a huge fan. Brooke is in the kitchen helping Alysha's mom carve the turkey and get the table ready.

"I have to go to the bathroom. Olli, can you finish this?" asks Alysha's mom as she hands me a knife. I help Brooke carve the turkey.

"Olli, you and Alysha look so happy," says Brooke with a smile on her face. "I shouldn't even have traveled because I could go into labor at any minute, but me and Patric have spent every Thanksgiving together since we met. I figured that its a few weeks before my due date that the baby won't come any time soon."

"Have you thought of any names?" I ask trying to continue the conversation. I love kids. I want some of my own someday.

"I have them all picked out, I'm just keeping them a secret until they are born."

"Oh, I forgot you were having twins. Is hard raising kids?"

"Obviously you met my kids. They are well behaved children that love to watch their daddy play hockey. Looks like they're having fun with William right not," chuckles Brooke. "But, to answer your question, yes, it's tough being a parent. Very time consuming and seem how Patric can't be around much, I have to step up and do a lot more parenting. But, I love it. Patric is a great father. I try to be a great mother."

"Those kids have great parents," I say as I give Brooke a compliment. Of course being a parent is hard, but it's rewarding too.

"Um, Olli?"

"Yeah?"

"My water just broke," says Brooke trying to keep calm. The twins are coming and they are coming now. Patric went out to the car to grab a few pies. I need to let him know. I need to take action and try to stay calm at the same time. Brooke's heavy breathing is making me very nervous and nauseous.

"Let's get you to the hospital," I say as I we try to rush out of the house. Alysha's mom runs to the door and we help Brooke get to the car. Patric notices what's going on and he runs over and helps. Alysha hops in the back of the car with her mom and Brooke and I hop into the passenger seat as Patric hops in the drivers seat. Everyone is going to continue Thanksgiving without us and we will just eat when we get back.

"Just breathe," coaches Alysha's mom. Patric drives as fast as he can. The hospital is close to where Alysha lives, I'm surprised. I don't know Detroit very well, but it seems like a good place to at least visit.

***

We are all waiting out in the waiting room for Brooke to have her twins. Patric is with her. I hope she's okay.

Brooke's POV

I hold the twins in my arms. Patric is sitting next to the bed. The doctor stands there smiling. I have twins.

"They're beautiful," says Patric kissing my forehead. "Just like you."

"I leave you two alone for a minute. Then I'll take you to your room," says the doctor as he leaves with the nurse. Patric brings everyone into the delivery room. An hour worh of labor, but it's worth it for these two children.

"Everyone, I'd like you to meet Rose Marie Hornqvist and her twin brother, Ivar Bjorn Hornqvist."

Notes

Well, we welcomed two new characters in the story. I will include everyone else when they get to Pittsburgh. I'm not really sure how this whole labor thing works when you have to travel. I know pregnant women shouldn't travel if they can have the baby at any moment. I will have an update every week. I'll will shoot for every Thursday now that I have time to myself. If you have any suggestions, please comment down below. Remember to subscribe to this story :). I think within the next few chapters, Alysha will see that she wants a kid, but she'd be too afraid to talk to Olli about it and the chapter will escalate from there.
