Living on a Dream

Part 1

"You're just... perfect." His deep brown eyes looked into mine. He ran his right hand through my hair, then rested his hand on my cheek. I smiled. The feeling of his warm body radiated to me. Everything I ever wanted was in this moment, right here. Someone to make me feel whole. The feeling of comfort and happiness that I never felt before. He gave me a sense of security and warmth. He leaned down, his 6'0 frame trumped my height at 5'5. I knew that in a moments notice what little gap we had between each other, would be filled. He moved closer until I could feel his breath on my face. Automatically my eyes closed, waiting for the feeling of his lips on mine. Right then his lip grazed mine softly and then.. I woke up.

My eyes fluttered open slowly. It was just as slowly as the guy in my dream was going to kiss me. I groaned so loudly it woke up my roommate, Diana. "Chill out" she came into the bed room and stood at the door frame. "I am chill" I snapped, rubbing my eyes.
"Why so grumpy?" she scoffed.
"Sorry, just woke up from a freaking great dream" I sat up and swung my legs over the side of the bed.
"Well are you coming to breakfast or not?" she rested her hand on her small waist.
"Yeah I'll be ready in five" my feet reached the ground. Diana turned around, her long red hair swayed behind. I walked out of the room and into the small bathroom we shared. I splashed cold water on my face and rubbing the sleepiness from my eyes. I only had time to curl my lashes, leaving my face bare, acne scars and all. I lazily put on my sweatpants from yesterday and a clean white tee from my drawer. Slipping on my sneakers in front of the door. "You are the fastest woman at getting ready" Diana laughed and opened the door.
"Causing me to look like crap."
"Oh come on, you're beautiful" she locked her arm in mine. I smiled and continued walking to the other side of campus to pick up our friend C.J. He lived on the male side of the apartments. The school either has full apartments or dorms. I thought full apartments would be nice, but they're just as small. I can't complain though, there is way more privacy, especially when it comes to bathrooms. We stopped outside the door and knocked. C.J opened the door like he was waiting there all morning. "Hello ladies" he exclaimed in his southern tongue. He was the most positive and upbeat person you'd meet. He is a native of Texas, but lived three cities over. Diana is from Nevada and I'm from New York. We we're completely different in the way we grew up, but had the closest bond of anyone on campus. "Who is driving?" Diana asked and C.J flashed his keys. "I guess it's you" I joked.
"Obvi" he smirked and led us to the parking lot. We went on our way to a popular cafe smack in the middle of downtown Dallas. We spent the next hour talking and eating. It was a sunny Saturday morning which was perfect to walk down to the shops on either side. Diana found a boutique that was filled with people. Usually the boutiques were catered to more mature women, but this was trendy. She always loved new trends. I liked a few shirts, but didn't buy anything. "What's next?" C.J stopped in the middle of the sidewalk.
"Let's go to the drugstore , I need vitamins" I said. They looked at me like I was crazy. C.J shook his head. "Go there and we'll be next door to shop for clothes" he grabbed Diana's hand and took her to the men's shop on the left.
I walked in and went straight to the vitamins. I didn't see where I was going and bumped into a large person. It was like a brick wall, but softer. "Sorry" I looked up and there stood the guy in my dream. I rubbed my eyes and looked back up. This couldn't be real. That just never ever happens in life. "It's cool" he smiled. He had a different accent, kind of sounded Canadian. I noticed I was staring. His dark brown hair was slicked to the side. He had large muscles, his arms covered in tattoos. He was in all black, making him look more broad. "Are you okay?" he sounded concerned. "Yeah, just thought I saw you somewhere" I shook my head. "But can't put my finger on it." He looked at me and placed his hand on his chin in thought.
"Well I'm always down here so maybe we have crossed paths." Downtown was a really large place so we both knew that was next to impossible. I agreed, not to make myself sound weird. Or any weirder than I already was coming across. "I'm Jamie, it's nice to cross paths again."
I smiled, "Riley is my name." That was lame.
"That's kind of southern, but you don't sound it."
"Parents wanted a boy so hence the odd name choice."
"It's pretty unisex now. Just like my name could be either or."
We made pretty good conversation, chemistry was there. He was definitely cuter than in my dream, which was a plus. Just then another man in his mid twenties walked up to Jamie. "There you are" he threw his own heavily tattooed arms in the air. Both were athletic in build and very tall. "Been looking all over for you, Benn" he stood next to him.
"Was just talking to someone." He looked at me and introduced me to his friend. "This is Tyler, he's a friend of mine."
"Hi Tyler" I smiled. He fixed his black baseball cap and smiled. We shook hands and then he rose my hand up to his lips, kissing it. "Nice to meet you." He was a real charmer and he knew it. Tyler looked like the type to flaunt it and flaunt it, he did. I retrieved my hand from his light grip. He grinned showing off his straight teeth.
"Ri" I heard Diana. I turned around and saw her and C.J with all their bags. "And I thought we took long" she looked at C.J with a glare. "Can't help that the first suit didn't fit."
"Why the hell do you need a suit? You're an IT major" I shook my head. Only he would do that and buy something he doesn't need. "Well when one of you has a shotgun wedding, who is going to be prepared? Yeah, this guy."
"Hey, my boyfriend and I are very careful" Diana wagged her finger at C.J. Jamie and Tyler laughed behind me.
"You guys deserve a show" Jamie said with a smile.
"Who are you?" C.J asked in his normal, blunt way. I explained that I just met them and that they live in Dallas as well. Tyler asked if we wanted to go to a party tonight and we all agreed. Jamie added to bring as many people as we wanted. "Meet at Club Dynamo around 9:30. We'll wait in the front for you" Jamie added. I was never the party type, but the guys were nice and I wanted to hang out with them again. It was always cool to meet new people since you never know what could happen in the future. Maybe my dream would come true. Maybe I found my match, the match I've never encountered. It could be the begining of something special.
