Leaving For A New Beginning

Damn Cities

The city is way different then the country. Even though the city of Detriot isn't as dangerous as it used to be, it still frightens me. Yet here I am, going on a jog by the riverfront.

I stop as soon as I can seen the CAESARS building across the river. I wonder what its like over in Windsor and Canada in general. I walk down the paved sidewalk, taking in the smell of the water, all the construction going on. They're trying to make Detriot great again.

I take a break when I get to Joe Louis Arena, taking a drink of my water bottle. I wiped sweat off my forehead before taking a look at the old arena, about to be demolished. Poor Stevie Yzerman, getting a street named after him that will have nothing there.

I leaned against the railing protecting anyone from falling into the river, pulling out my phone to take a picture of the worn down arena. "Never got to see a game in that arena either." I sighed, putting my phone away as a young man suddenly spoke.

"Never saw a game in the Joe, huh?" He commented, out of breath, his cheeks adorably red.

"You look exhaused." I chuckled handing him my extra water bottle, which he accepted with great thanks.

"Yeah, too long of a drive." I brushed a strand of hair out of my face, while he leaned on the railing next to me.

"Where are you from?" He asked curiously, his blue eyes shining.

"L'Anse, about a 8 hour drive."

"Damn, isn't it one of the smallest places in the Upper Peninsula?"

"Yeah, filled with lots of old people and a declining population." I laughed, my laugh spreading to him. "I'm Mikalynn, by the way."

"Very unique, exotic, and beautiful name. I'm Dylan, nice to meet you." He responded with a smile, his compliment causing me to blush.

"You ever see a game in the Joe?" I asked him in return, wanting to keep the conversation going, considering he was pretty cute.

"Yeah, I was fortunate to watch two seasons in there." He laughed as if he expected me to know something.

"Holy shit! You're so lucky!" I exclaimed.

"You're Mikalynn Altemose aren't you?"

"Wait---how did yo-" I began but Dylan cut me off.

"Remember, you sang the National Anthem at the last Red Wings home game last season." He put his arm around my shoulder, which was perfect height for him. I giggled at his touch, feeling embarassed and awkward.

Dylan's View

I swung my arm around my shoulder, which may have been too much of a move after just meeting a girl. In my own defense, she's absolutely gorgeous, with a obvious southern-sounding accent which obviously came from living in the country.

"Oh- I'm so sorry!" I took my arm off of her, noticing the slight, sudden, gloomy look on her face. Had I really just done that? I looked her all over, the main thing pulling me towards her like a magnet was that she was wearing very little makeup. Something about that gives me the confidence vibe, and that's fucking hot, and she is also a couple years older, thats even hotter.

I learned my lesson from previous relationships, never tell them who you are until you are sure that's who you want to be with. "Mikalynn, I know I just... uhh, kinda met you. But would you like to go on a date sometime?"

Something about her brown eyes, just showed how different and energetic she was. "Sure." She just shrugged, but her excitement was obvious. We exchanged phone numbers and continued on.

What was going follow, would be a night of craziness, and excitement.
