Tyler stared at himself in the mirror, ensuring his suit and tie looked perfect. If he was going to a magazine party for his cover, he was going to look good.

He had talked to Alex earlier that day, asking her if she’d convinced Savannah to be his date. He couldn’t believe he was needing to ask her to help his own girlfriend be seen with him. Alex had told him Savannah was still on the fence and she and Jamie had told her she was welcome to go with them if she wanted.

Tyler had wanted to argue but knew it wasn’t Alex’s fault. So instead he told her he would see her that evening, ready for her to get all the accolades she deserved for the photos. He suddenly heard a knock on the bedroom door. He turned around curiously and froze.

“Still need a date for tonight?” Savannah asked with a small smile on her face.

Tyler couldn’t speak as he looked her over. She was standing there in a black dress that fell halfway down her thighs. He could tell the sides had a cutout along her torso and the neckline was higher up, covering her breasts.

“What? Do I need to change?” she asked, giving a quick spin, showing off the back of the dress, which was cutout with a couple straps to barely cover her back. She knew that would drive Tyler crazy.

“Holy shit,” he muttered under his breath. “No changing,” he said, taking a step forward. “We’re going to be lucky if we get out of here tonight. Damn, Savannah, you look incredible,” he told her.

“Just trying to match you for the evening,” she smiled. “I mean, we’re about to walk into a room of a bunch of naked pictures of you,” she said with a laugh.

“Well, I can guarantee you’re going to be the star tonight looking like that.”
She looked down, kicking her leg out in the air. “I still hate this scar,” she muttered, pointing out the scar she got from when she got injured while chasing a criminal a few months ago.

Tyler reached out and grabbed her leg still in the air, pulling it so she wrapped it around his waist. “I love this leg, and every scar on your body,” he said in a low voice before pressing his lips against hers.

“Tyler, we need to go,” she whined, pushing lightly on his chest.

He thought about arguing but then stopped. He was glad she had chosen to be his date tonight. “Let’s go show you off,” he smiled at her.

She laughed. “You’re the one being shown off tonight,” she reminded him.

He just shrugged as he grabbed her hand and led her out of the bedroom.

The drive downtown was a short one for a Friday night. He gave his car to the valet and walked beside Savannah. “C’mon, hot shot,” she smiled at him.

Walking inside, he was surprised how many people were there. He didn’t realize how big of a deal a magazine cover was. He saw his agent, Jack, standing in the corner, and he waved as a greeting.

“This is incredible,” he heard a familiar face say from behind him.

He turned around to see Alex and Jamie standing there. “You did a great job,” Tyler complimented her. “You look good, by the way,” he added, giving her a friendly hug.

“You don’t look so bad yourself,” Alex replied.

Tyler heard his name being called, and he saw Jack heading in his direction. Without even getting to say goodbye to Alex or Savannah, he was suddenly being pulled away to talk to a group of people he didn’t even know.

The next hour was spent schmoozing. Tyler normally didn’t mind that. He was a social guy and enjoyed talking to people. But right now, he wanted to figure out where his girlfriend was.

He finally saw her on the other side of the room. As he made his way over there, he noticed she wasn’t alone and had a man talking her up. Tyler’s jealous instincts kicked in as his strides got wider to reach her quicker.

Just before he reached her, he felt a hand wrap around his forearm and pull on him. He found himself facing Alex. “Whoa, calm down there, buddy,” she warned him. He gave her a curious look. “I see what you’re seeing. She’s fine, she can handle herself,” Alex told him, nodding her head in Savannah’s direction. “Don’t make a scene,” she added under her breath, but Tyler still heard her loud and clear.

He frowned at Alex. “If some guy was talking you up, you really think Benn wouldn’t be ready to pound him?” he asked with a raised eyebrow. “Where is he, by the way?” he added as he looked around for Jamie.

“I would hope Jamie would trust me,” she countered.

“Has he popped the question yet?” Tyler changed subjects.

“No. And please don’t ask him,” she replied.

Tyler looked over at Savannah one more time only to catch her eye. She smiled at him before saying goodbye to the man that was having a conversation with her. She pushed her way through the crowd of people to get to Tyler and Alex.

She looked between the two of them. “What?” she asked slowly.

“Did you know your boyfriend has a jealous side?” Alex ratted him out.

Tyler’s head spun towards her. “Watch out, I’m going to go find Captain and ask him where your ring is,” he threatened. Alex rolled her eyes, knowing he was lying.

Savannah looked at Tyler. “What are you jealous of?” she inquired. “If anyone should be jealous, it should be me. I know what all these girls here are thinking,” she said, motioning around the room. Tyler glanced around and could feel about thirty pairs of eyes on him. And with the pictures Alex took that were on display, he had no doubt they were picturing him with very little clothing. Savannah moved in closer to him. “But I’m the one that gets to see you like this every night,” she added with a thick sexual undertone.

Tyler grinned. “Yeah you do.”

“I’m going to find Shea and Audrey. If you see Jamie, can you tell him to just find me at some point tonight?” Alex requested.
“Where did he go?” Savannah asked.
Alex shrugged her shoulders. “Don’t know. Went to get drinks a little while ago and never came back. Maybe this is his way of getting out of the relationship,” she made a poor joke that Savannah clearly did not find entertaining.

“Or he got stopped by someone. I swear, you can’t walk anywhere without someone stopping and wanting to talk to you,” Tyler muttered. “I’ll give him the message, though,” he told Alex. She nodded her head and said goodbye, leaving Tyler and Savannah alone.

“So you’ve got a jealous side, eh?” she smirked at him.

Tyler shook his head. “Nah, Alex is making that up,” he replied.

Savannah poked him in the chest. “Sure,” she said.

She was quiet for a moment, and Tyler looked at her, concerned. “Everything okay?” he finally asked.

She shivered slightly. “Yeah,” she replied. “I just have this bad feeling all of a sudden,” she admitted.

“Bad feeling like what’s going to happen?” he asked.

She shrugged. “I don’t know,” she replied. She opened her bag she was holding and took her phone out. “Liam called me,” she stated.

“Go,” Tyler said. She looked at him curiously. “Call him back. I know you’re not going to be able to relax and enjoy this party until you know why he called.”

“You’re not going to get all jealous if I call him?” she teased.

“You just better be coming back in here afterwards,” he said.

She gave him a quick kiss. “I’m not leaving here without you. So just tell all those other girls to back off. I’ll kick their ass,” she threatened. Tyler liked this badass side of her. He had no doubt she really would kick someone’s ass if they tried to get too close to him.

As soon as she walked away, Tyler felt a hand on his shoulder. He wanted to tell whoever it was to just give him two minutes to himself, but when he turned around, he found himself face-to-face with Audrey. “Hey,” he smiled sincerely. “How are you doing?”

“Good,” she replied sincerely. “Sorry to steal you away from the masses,” she added.
Tyler shook his head. “Couldn’t pick a better person to be talking to right now,” he told her. “By the way, I need to get the boys in for check ups,” he told her.

“Bring them in anytime,” she replied.

“Hey,” Shea walked up to them. “Where’s Van?” she asked Tyler.

“She went to go call Liam,” he answered. Shea raised an eyebrow at him. “Something about a bad feeling and he left her a message,” he shrugged his shoulders.

“Must be twin telepathy. I have an eerie feeling, too,” she admitted. Tyler’s stomach dropped. The last time Shea had felt that way, Savannah had ended up in the hospital, battered and bruised. Shea must have noticed Tyler’s worry because she reached her hand out. “I’m sure it’ll be fine,” she tried assuring him.

“I need a drink,” Tyler said suddenly. “Can I get you two something?” he asked. Both shook their heads. “Okay, I’ll be back,” he said, moving through the crowd.

He should have known better than to think he could easily make it to the bar and back quickly. He got stopped several times each way. What should have taken him five minutes, turned into twenty. He finally made it back across the room to see Savannah with Alex and Shea. “Everything okay?” he asked her.

“Yeah, actually a good update,” she told him with a smile. “You bring me one back?” she asked, nodding towards his glass of gin in his hand.

“I can go get you one,” he offered.

She shook her head. “No, I can get it myself.”

“Not so fast,” he grabbed at her elbow. “I feel like I haven’t seen you all night. I’m going with you,” he said, not planning on letting her out of his sight again for the evening. If both Savannah and Shea had bad feelings, something was bound to happen. And he wasn’t going to let anything happen to Savannah.

The night was winding down, and Tyler was starting to feel a little more at ease, as nothing bad had happened that evening. Or maybe it was the number of drinks he had in his system. Either way, he was feeling better.

Savannah was starting to sway just slightly and he knew she’d drank more than her self limit of drinks and it was about time to get the both of them home.

He found Jamie and Alex in the emptying room and made his way over to them, Savannah holding tight onto his arm. “Alex, thank you again for everything. This wouldn’t have been possible without you,” he told her.

“Please, I should be thanking you!” she told him. “This photo shoot was big, and I can’t thank you enough for allowing me to do it. And you, Van. Thank you for allowing me to see you boyfriend naked,” she joked with her best friend.

“Eh, he’s overrated naked,” Savannah commented.

“Okay you’re clearly wasted,” Tyler said of her remark. “Let’s get you home,” he said, grabbing her hand and linking it with his own. “Jamie, you good getting home?” he asked first.

Jamie nodded. “Yeah, I’ll talk to you later.”

Tyler turned around, guiding Savannah out of the room. She blew a kiss to the large cover photo just inside the main door, and Tyler couldn’t help but laugh at her.

He called an Uber when he got outside, not risking driving himself. Savannah was playing with her phone, and Tyler assumed she was texting the group chat.

He watched her put her phone to her ear, and he looked at her curiously as she listened to something. He saw the moment she became completely sober from whatever she was listening to. Her eyes locked with his.

“What’s wrong?” he asked her.

The Uber driver pulled up, but both of them ignored it. “Someone just tried to kill Louis Brophy.”

I can see why Alex is the responsible adult in the situation, Jamie and Tyler fight way too much like little kids.

Tyler's advice to Jamie at the end about ring shopping is pretty funny. As far as the case goes it's really starting to get interesting, can't wait to read more.
