Free Falling

Ahhhh! I feel like a terrible person for not updating for 5 months! I am so bad! I want to get this running again! Hope you all had a lovely Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa whatever it may be :)

The apartment was hard to get used to but after a week or two it started feeling like home. I hadn't heard from Tuukka at all, which is okay. My office is supposed to be all set for tomorrow. I still felt like something was missing. I woke up feeling this way. I took a shower to maybe feel a little better, but I didn't. I pulled my closet open and something fell against my foot. I looked down to see my goalie pad lying at my feet. I smirked.
"I almost forgot about you." I said and pulled them out to the middle of my room. I threw my sports bra and some sweats on. I knew what I was going to do today. As I ate breakfast I googled places I could go play a pickup game or something. I found this rink called the Ristuccia Arena in Wilmington not too far from here. There was a pickup game at eleven and that's just what I needed. I packed my stuff in my truck and headed to the rink. Once I got there I checked in and went into the girls locker room and got dressed. It felt like I was back in my college days. Damn I missed it so much. It took some time to get back in the swing of things, but I wasn't letting anything past me once I was warmed up. While we took a break I met some local guys that were curious about my playing. I had looked up and my eyes locked on a sign that was hard to miss. "Home of the Boston Bruins!" How had I missed that in the first place?
"Hey, uh do the Bruins practice here or something?" I asked the guy John that was sitting next to me.
"Yeah, pretty cool ey?"
I just nodded hoping there wasn't a chance that they were here.
We finished the game and my team won 3-1 which was pretty cool. I practically ran into the locker room and changed back into my clothes. I carefully snuck out of the room and headed for the hallway.
"He didn't say much to me, he only told me about the whole jersey situation..." I heard a familiar voice speak.
"Shit." I whispered and turned around. Of course the Bruins are practicing now. Why wouldn't they be?
I put my hood up. I looked for another way around, but that hall was the only way out. I ducked my head and walked through the hall hearing them come closer and closer. I pushed pasted them hoping my bag would fit around them. I walked looking at the door as it came closer and closer.
"Elia?" I heard.
I slowly turned around and saw Bergy standing there.
"Hey."
"That was you out there? Why didn't you tell us you were such a good goalie?"
"Look, I'd like it if you didn't really say anyth-"
"Elia?" Tuukka spoke as he made his way from the end of the hall.
"Hey." I said.
"That was you out there?"
"Yeah."
"You're sick. Why don't you come on the ice with us?"
"No that's fine, I have this thing anyway." It clearly sounded like I was lying.
"A thing?"
"Yeah, uh I gotta go. It was nice seeing you guys."
I turned and started walking back to the door. I mad a mad dash for my truck and searched my pockets for my keys. There was a light knock on the side of my truck. I glanced up seeing Tuukka standing there with my keys.
"Forget something?" He laughed.
I tried to snatch my keys out of his hand and he pulled them back.
"What 'thing' do you have?" He asked.
"Come on Tuukka. Give me my keys."
"Not until you tell me what's keeping you from skating with us." He was laughing, but I wasn't.
"I don't have time for this."
He gave me a look questioning what was really consuming my time.
"I don't have any plans, but I just didn't want you guys knowing about it alright?"
"Why? You're so talented! You should play with us!"
"I'm supposed to be your doctor not a team mate."
"But if you were just my doctor, I wouldn't do this," he suddenly grabbed my face and pressed his lips to mine.
A rush flew through my body from my toes to my forehead. I suddenly realized what he was doing and pushed him away.
"Shit. Tuukka, you can't just do that."
I grabbed my keys from his hand threw myself into the car. I peeled out of the parking lot and floored it all the way back to Boston. Tuukka was really starting to aggravate me. I don't know if that's what they do over in Finland, but that's not how things work over here. I couldn't stop thinking of that feeling that raced through me when his lips lingered on mine.

I was almost too embarrassed to show up to work the next day. I walked straight into my office and sat down. It was so nice in there. It had everything you could imagine! I loved it! I started taking stuff out of the bag I had brought in with me. I pulled out a picture of my sister to set on my desk. I sat there looking at it. I missed her more and more every second. A hard knocking pulled me out of my gaze. I stood up and flattened out my skirt and went to the door. I pulled it open and saw Scott standing there.
"Scott! Hey."
"Hey! Sorry the office took so long. How are you liking it?" He asked.
"I like it a lot, it's just smelly from those damn boys." I joked.
"Haha, they are pretty stinky."
"Thank you again for everything." I said.
"Oh don't worry about it! I have something for you though."
He pulled his hands from around his back and handed me something white. I carefully unfolded it to discover it was a doctors coat with the Bruins logo and my name imprinted on it.
"Congrats Dr. Murto."
"Thank you so much!'
"Alright I'll start sending the boys in!"
"Sounds good!"
My door swung closed as Scott left and I took in a sharp breath as the following knock on the door came too soon.
"It's your favorite Bruin of all time!" I heard Brad yell from the other side of the door.
"Hmmm, let me think. Well Peter Schaefer was a Bruin for a season and I really liked him when he played for Vancouver. So is it Peter Schaefer?"
The door swung open to reveal the jokingly annoyed face of Brad Marchand.
"Schaefer? Really? He had what? 10 goals as a Bruin and negative 5 when he went back to Vancouver."
"I dunno, he was the only guy I could think of that was a Bruin and a Canuck."
"I'm not sure if we're gonna get along very well Doc, seeing you're a Canuck fan." He stated shaking his finger at me.
"Did you just call me Doc?" I laughed.
"Yeah, I like it. It really suits you." His eyes quickly glanced up and down my body, I knew what he was doing.
I gave him a weak smile and threw in a fake cough as I moved from my desk to the table where the boys would sit.
"So um, can you sit right on here for me please? I just want to do a few measurements and tests to put into my log. It will help me when it comes time to do physical therapy and what not."
He walked quickly to the table and hopped up so he was sitting on it. I put the blood pressure cuff around his arm and squeezed the pump. I could feel his eyes on me the whole time, but I didn't dare glance at him. It seemed to be this way for the rest of the time he was there.
"Alright, you're all set. Can you get, um Gregory for me when go out there."
He laughed.
"Gregory." He mimicked shaking his head.
"What? Is that not his name or something, it says it ri-"
"We call him Soupy, Doc. Most of us don't go by first names around here."
"Okay." My face blushed in embarrassment as he walked out the door shaking his head.
I leaned back against the wall and muttered a "fuck" under my breath.
"Knock-knock it's Gregory."
I couldn't help but laugh as I pulled the door open.
"Sorry, I didn't realize you all had ni-" I looked up at his face and his beauty swept the breath right out of me. Why are hockey players so goddamn delicious?

Hope you guys liked this chapter!! I think I'm going to start updating every Sunday and any other day I can throw one in! Tell me what you think!
