Falling Fast and Breathing Hard

My Life Would Suck Without You

About a month later, I was at the airport impatiently waiting for Kris. Ten minutes passed by quickly and I saw him coming through the terminal. I couldn't stop smiling. He came toward me and we hugged for the longest time.

"I missed you." I cried into his shoulder.

"I missed you too. Now, stop that crying. I'm back, okay?'

"I can't help it. You also gotta remember that I'm pregnant and my hormones are running wild."

He nodded.

"I'll remember that."

"Good. Let's go."

We dropped his belongings at his house before heading to mine. We headed to my room and laid on my bed.

"You wanna meet Nala and Sammy?"

"Sure."

I picked up my three month old cat and dog and placed them on the bed.

"They are adorable." he said picking one up at a time.

They liked him instantly. I leaned into him and he wrapped an arm around me, touching my stomach.

"When will we know whether it's a boy or a girl?"

"Four-and-a-half months to five months."

"I hope it's a boy. What about you?"

"I'm not sure. I'd really love either one, but there's something about having a baby girl. You holding her, her being a daddy's girl, like I was a daddy's girl." I smiled to myself.

He kissed my forehead.

"I'd love that."

My phone rang the very next moment. It was my Mom and I put it on speakerphone.

"Hello?"

"He,y honey, how are you?"

"Great. Kris is back!"

"Fantastic! How is he?"

"Amazing." he answered.

"Hey Kris! How was Montreal?"

"Great. I really missed home and I trained, getting myself in shape for the upcoming season."

"That's good."

"Thanks."

"Don't mention it. So, how are you feeling Athena?"

"Pretty good. No morning sickness, but I have been craving peanut butter and banana sandwiches lately."

She laughed.

"You know what I craved when I was pregnant with you?"

"Hmm?"

"Salmon. And you know how much I hate salmon."

I laughed.

"Yeah, that's pretty strange."

"Anyway Mom, I gotta go. I'm feeling hungry." I said a couple of minutes later.

"Ok hun. If you wanna call me later. I'll be here."

"Alright. Love ya!"

"Love ya! Bye."

"Bye."

I hung up and laid back.

"It's ten o'clock. You haven't eaten yet?"

"Nope."

He was slightly annoyed.

"You do know that you need to eat right and stay healthy as possible?"

"Yes, Doctor Letang." I said, rolling my eyes.

"I'm gonna make you something. Please go sit down."

"You flew into Pittsburgh this morning."

"From Montreal. That's a very short flight, if you didn't know."

He was pissing me off.

"I'm going to lay in my room." I said irritatedly.

I must've laid in my room for twenty minutes when he came in.

"Sorry I'm being such a bitch."

"You're not being a bitch. Trust me."

"You just say that 'cause you're my boyfriend." I said with a half-smile.

"No. It's the truth."

"So, what's for lunch?"

"Is scrambled eggs with cheese, bacon and crab good?"

I smiled a huge smile.

"Is it good?"

"It's great! Thanks! I love you." I said, kissing his cheek.

The smile on his face was as apparent as mine.

"Great. I'll be right back."

He came back with the same dish with the same drink, orange juice.

"How is it?"

"Delicious." I said with my mouth full.

He laughed.

About twenty minutes later, I ran into the bathroom and all that I had for brunch came back up.

"Fuck."

He ran in immediately.

"Are you okay?"

"It's morning sickness. It's fine. I just hate that I puked it all up."

"Want some water?"

"Please."

"I'll be right back."

"Thanks."

"Don't mention it."

I smiled. I really picked a good one, didn't I?

"I love you." I said when he came back.

"I love you too."

"Could you also get me a washcloth? I need to sit here for a while."

He nodded.

I leaned against him when he sat down.

"I love you." I said with him holding my hand.

"I love you too."

"I'm so tired." I yawned.

"You wanna nap?"

"Yeah. I do. Wanna nap with me?"

"I'd love to. I've missed holding you."

I blushed.

"I've missed that too. I've missed you holding me, your touch in general."

He smiled.

I brushed my teeth after a few minutes and made my way to the bed. Being wrapped in his strong, secure arms is perhaps the most wonderful feeling in the world; maybe except the feeling of my newborn child in my loving arms. That night, we went out to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory, mainly because I was craving cheesecake... more than usual; I like that craving the most.

"This is nice. I haven't gone out too much. Maybe a few dinners and lunches with Mary."

"Any chance that I can meet her this week?"

"You should be tomorrow. I just have to talk to her."

"Cool."

"Ready for cheesecake?" he asked.

"You have no idea. I've been craving it more than usual. I love it."

He laughed.

"Does this mean I have to buy cheesecake and/or cheesecake mix often?"

"Yes. When I can't, you have to."

I couldn't stop smiling.

"I can do that."

I ended up ordering the chocolately cheesecake they had.

"Mmm... this is so good." I said practically moaning.

Kris was shaking his head and trying not to laugh, but the latter was a complete and utter failure.

"You know you love me." I said with my mouth full.

"I do. I love you."

"I love you too." I said, swallowing.

Twenty minutes later, we were in the parking lot and pulling out.

"Anything else you'd like to do?"

"I just wanna go home and watch a movie."

He nodded.

I changed into my pyjamas and grabbed a movie and sat on the couch. He sat down right beside me and kissed my cheek.

"I meant to ask you this at dinner. I had no idea I'd be asking you this soon, but I knew at sometime or another, I would be. Will you move in with me?" he asked, holding my hand.

I hadn't answered yet, but I was extremely happy.

"Yes! Of course I will."

He hugged me and I didn't want to him to let me go nor did I want to let go of him. I couldn't wait to move in with him and start a new life with him and in about eight months, our newborn son or daughter.
