Eclipse
Chapter 2
"You were what!?" Tyler exlaimed. I flinched at how loud he was before saying, "I was asked to go to a Blackhawks practice so they could evaluate my skill..."
We were in Tyler's car on the way back from practice. He usually didn't pick me up, but today Tyler wanted to spend a day at Great America, so we were dropping my equipment off before heading over to Great America.
Tyler shook his head and replied, "It's great that you were offered a spot on the team, but how will you spend time with me if you are always doing hockey?" "I'll find a way..." I muttereed as I turned my head to look out the window.
Tyler only sighed and focused back on the road. I'll find a way, I thought to myself. That thought had more confidence in it's words than I had in myself to fulfill what I had just said.
Tyler doesn't see what I see in playing hockey... I thought, my mind swirling with dark thoughts.
When I had first moved to Chicago, I had tried figure skating, only to quit a month or two later because I didn't like it.
When I had gone to one of my brother's hockey games, it occurred to me how much I would like to do it, but when I got on the ice, I gave up because i couldn't skate without a toe pick.
Two years later, I picked up the skated again and for two years I got better at skating until I joined a team. Most hockey players start skating at a very young age, but I proved my parents wrong by starting at the age of twelve.
My stomach growled and brought me out of my thoughts to realize we were pulling in the driveway.
When the car stopped, I climbed out, grabbed my bag from the trunk, went inside, downstairs, laid out my equipment to dry, and started on my way back up. i locked the front door behind me and climbed back into the passenger seat.
Tyler didn't start the car again and I looked at him.
He looked back and said, "Promise?"
"Yes."
