Follow Your Heart
Chapter 1
Wednesday, September 1st, Year 1.
12:00 noon
"Maia?"
I looked up. There was a boy about my age, with short black hair, and blue eyes. He was tall, and I could smell his cologne. It was scented of something minty, and a little spice. Maybe cinnamon-mint?
"Hey Jake." I said.
He was so good looking.
"Can I ask you something?" He questioned me.
"For sure." I confirmed.
"I, I... I don't know how to say this." He stammered.
"It's ok Jake. Just spit it out." I encouraged.
"I- You- I..." He tried again.
I waited for him.
"You are the most... Beautiful girl I've ever seen. Would you go out with me?" He asked, and immediately bowed his head, expecting the worst.
A million things were rushing through my head.
"Are you serious Jake?" I asked carefully.
"Dead serious." He told me, a glimmer of hope returning to his eyes.
"Jake. I... I-"
"It's ok. I can take a hint." He said, and turned to go.
"No!" I shouted. "I, just didn't want to be tricked. Jake?"
He came closer. "Yes?"
"I love you." I whispered.
It was true. My feelings for Jake had changed over the past few months.
"So you will?" He asked carefully.
"Sure." I smiled.
He grinned, and sat down.
