Follow Your Heart
Chapter 2
I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket, and I pulled it out, answering the call.
"Hello?" I asked timidly. Who would be calling me at 11 PM?
"Hey. Maia?" Jake sounded relieved.
"Hi." I said, trying to sound sweet, and not exhausted.
"Oh, my... I have no idea where to start." He stammered.
"It's OK." I told him. "Take your time."
"I have to move." He blurted out.
"What?" I was in shock. "Where to?"
"Australia." He said.
"What? Why? I don't want you to move!" I called.
"I'm sorry, but I have to. I got an amazing business deal, and I can't turn it down. I know it's a bit much to ask of you, but..." His voice trailed off.
"Yes?" I asked.
"You could move to Australia with me!" He said hopefully.
"Oh, Jake! I have no idea what that would involve!" I replied nervously.
"It's OK. I have everything under control. I can manage money for both of us, and we can have great lives there. We can live together!" He tried his best to sound reassuring, but he sounded nervous too.
"Jake, I don't know." I told him.
"Please?" He asked, in a sad voice. "I'll miss you so much."
"I know Jake, and I'll miss you too, but I don't think I can do it!" I held back tears.
"Aww." He sounded so disappointed that I had to do something.
"Fine. I'll come." I said.
