My Gold Medal
Two Dates, One Girl
We finally arrived at Stanley Park. The view was beautiful already and we weren't even on the trail yet. I felt him pull me into another direction.
We walked side by side on the trail. It was quiet and quite cold. I brushed it off. The breath of Mike and I's were visible in the icy winter.
"Mike, this really nice."
"Yeah? Well, I'm glad you think so. Lu suggested it to me," He admitted.
It was silent for a while. I decided to break the silence. "Why do you like me?"
He stared at me strangely. "Why wouldn't I like you? You're nice and very pretty." The blood rushed to my cheeks and he noticed it as well.
"You very sweet to me. It is good," I managed to say. I found that when ever I talked to him in English I didn't have to be shy. I could be who I am and he didn't care that my English wasn't great. I was just Ekaterina Ilyukhina.
"My mom was always persistent on knowing how to treat a girl. I'm happy it's paid off now." I smiled at his short story. I really enjoyed learning new things about people, whether they were negative or positive. "So Rina, your competition is tomorrow. Do you want another fan?"
"If you like to come. I have more friend come too," I explained. Zinoviya wouldn't be attending because of hockey but the boys hockey was on a stop for a day.
"Oh, who's going?" He asked, intrigued.
"Evgeni want to come and Alex maybe too." He sighed a little. "What is wrong?" My heart pumped a little. I hope I hadn't upset him or anything.
"Do you like Evgeni or Alex?" He blurted out. We both stopped and stared at each other. I will admit that I was taken back by his question. I hadn't thought about if I liked anyone, ever.
"Of course I like both. They are my friends and I am so happy my friends."
He forcefully smiled at me. His hands were in his pockets. I noticed him glance at the ground before looking up. His body leaned into mine, and like a magnet my body reacted positively. I felt myself leaning in and then it happened. Our lips met, softly. The both of our lips were a little chapped due to the still winter. I didn't care, I moved my lips in sync with his. Soon we broke apart and our eyes met. His grin was beautiful.
"Mike," I murmured.
His face was close to mine and he moved a piece of loose hair behind my ear. "Ekaterina, you're so beautiful."
I concealed a massive shriek of excitement.
"Ty slishkom dobr ko mne," I whispered to him.

I shut the door behind me and I let it hit me. Mike Richards actually liked me. Who knew that on this trip to snow board, I was going to meet someone.
I felt my phone vibrating in my back pocket, so I pulled it out. The caller ID read that it was Zinoviya calling me.
"Zinoviya?" I asked into the phone.
"Hey Rina, I'm just letting you know that I will be telling Alex how I feel. If it doesn't end well, I need you to have ice cream and a ton of tissue you ready in your room," She joked. I grinned at the heads up. "And you can't forget your date with Evgeni!" Damn it.
I couldn't go on a date with Evgeni. Mike just kissed me. I did have to factor in the fact that he never asked me to be his girlfriend, but I still couldn't do that to him. What was I supposed to do? I made a promise to her, and I wasn't one to break promises.
"Da, I know."
