Wild About You - Comments, page 3
I haven't been commenting lately but I have been reading and I AM SO HAPPY. I'm so happy that Marco and Marie are finally engaged. I'm so happy that they love each other so much and that they were able to get through that rough patch of Marco's dad passing, which was honestly so hard to read! Knowing Marco's dad actually passed in real life last year because of cancer is pretty devastating. Also can I just say that Cam is such a shit stirrer, he gives me bad vibes. I hope that's all that he is because of course I love a good ending, although I hope this story is far from over because it's such a fun read. Once again, thank you for such a great chapter!
OMGGGGG tumblr refused to load my login so I haven't been able to comment in forever!!! I am SO happy for them!!!!! Eeeeeeeee
@Kay_18
So crazy! I hadn't heard that song before, and then while I was in Nashville, a band in one of the bars covered it and now I'm in love with that song <3
This chapter was so good! I knew as soon as he asked her to meet after the game what he was planning. If you need a song rec for future chapters, try When You Love Someone by Jake Owen. It's slower but I definitely feel like you could do something amazing with it!!
stooppppp my heart omg this is such a good story. You're such a talented writer and I can't wait to see what you have in store!
@CavalierDrummer
Hahaha yaaaaaas! I'm really happy you're enjoying the story for all its good grammar and punctuation :) HAH but really, it warms my heart to know that people feel strongly enough about the story to write meaningful comments like yours. I've tried to create a world for this story, and I'm glad you feel like what's been posted so far fits into that world. I know some of the plot lines are not so believable (like a girl moving across the country to a state she doesn't know for a boy she's only seen a handful of times), but if it makes sense in the world I've created, I can get away with it. Suspending disbelief in all :) I'm happy you're enjoying it, and there's much more of this story!!

Well if you like long comments, I'm your girl!! JK, lol. As a sociology major, you're on point with Marie adapting to her new lifestyle to fit into societal norms, as well as realizing that this is her new reality. But I think it also has more to do with her daddy issues and not being loved. From the very beginning of the story Marco had told her he wasn't interested in her romantically because of her age and because he wasn't up for a relationship. And she understood that. But that didn't stop her for reaching out for him. She even mentioned, I think in the chapter where she's in his childhood bedroom, that at that moment, she already cares more for Marco than he will of her. And from that comment alone, and the little interaction we saw of Wild Bill, you can tell there's something dysfunctional in her life and she clearly wants someone to love her. And so when Marco shows up & starts showing her how a man is supposed to treat a lady, she's automatically drawn to it. Marie's also quick to do things that make Marco happy regardless how she herself feels; like the anal sex & her comment that she didn't want to disappoint him. She's searching for love and approval. Things that Bill never showed her.
And moving half way across the country for a guy she barely knows...???? Sure they made it official before she made the move, but Marco's right, she pretty much used him as an excuse. But I don't want to dwell too much on that topic. So I'll end that there.
But otherwise, I really like the story. Good plot lines, excellent grammar & punctuation, flows nicely, nothing out of character or remotely uncharacteristic of a person & realty. Just what I like in a fanfic. Keep up the good work!! :)
Ah I live for long comments <3 :) in response to what you said, I agree that Marie is fishing for that wife label and that's how I intended it to be taken. I think the only reason she is searching for that though is because she's already being that for him. I'm not a sociology expert so don't quote me on this, but the roles people take on in life help define who they are and they act in ways that are appropriate norms for that role as a means of fitting into society.
For Marie, I think that kind of makes sense as she's coming to grips with the fact that she's taken on the role of wife, and is acting how most wives would, but isn't getting the self-satisfaction of having that label attached to her. And like you said, that label really only means something to the government, and Marco could get a mistress... both valid points. But even if Marco does get a mistress and that label means nothing to him, Marie still has it for herself and it puts her into a certain place in society. She's not a girlfriend with an infant and a baby daddy, she's a wife with an infant and husband. Those roles have different connotations in society, whether that's right or wrong.
Thank you so much for commenting! I loved reading what you had to say and seeing your thoughts! :)
I love that Marco has to shave his beard because Sofia doesn't like it. Pleasing his little girl.
As for Marie, yes a wedding ring does mean security in terms of marriage and government laws and shit, but that isn't always the case. Marco could marry her, and then have a mistress on the side, assuming he was a pig. And then the only security she'd get from that ring is getting half of his paycheck, providing they didn't have a prenup. Idk, it just seemed like she was more into the label of "wife" then anything.
And Marco's right, marriage is a big deal and you can't just step into it like you would Disneyland! You just had a baby, just opened a cafe, and you're still in school; the percentage of single, unwed mothers between their teens and twenties isnt exactly a good thing. And adding a marriage at an early age does not help. There's no need to rush; slow down.
And what's Wild Bill Thatcher up to now...? I don't like it.
i never want this to end
