Lie and Tie

Two

Tyler’s POV:

I couldn’t get Ashley out of my head the entire walk to the Garden. When I got there I got changed and went out to the ice with my mind still focused solely on her.

“SEGUIN!” I snapped out of my thoughts as Coach yelled my name. “For Gods sakes get your head out of the clouds and play!” I quickly looked around and saw that the guys were going through some drills and some of them were looking at me with curiosity clear across their faces. I skated over to where Marchy and Looch were.

“You okay man?” Marchy asked looking at me, Looch looked slightly concerned.
“Ya, I’m fine.” I said distractedly before jumping into the next drill.

When practice was over we all headed back into the locker rooms. As I sat down in my stall Zee threw his sweater at me from across the room and simply said “Explain.” I knew exactly what he was talking about and so did everyone else which is why the entire room was now silent and watching me waiting for my answer. “Umm well I parked a couple of blocks away today and then walked here from there.” I told them as if that was all to the story.

“Oh? And what happened along the way that made you so dreamy and incoherent that you didn’t even talk to any of us or acknowledge anyone’s existence until coach yelled at you?” inquired Bergy. Everyone’s heads snapped from looking at him to boring holes in my head. “Does it really matter?” I asked uncomfortably. “Hell yeah it does!” quipped Marchy.

“Fine. I was walking and this girl slipped on a patch of ice on her way to work and I caught her and now I can’t get her out of my mind.” I sighed defeated knowing they were going to chirp me about this for a long time. I was right as Brad instantly cooed, “Oooo Seggy’s in loooove.” I rolled my eyes and mumbled a quick “whatever” and went to go take a shower but Zee stopped me when he said, “So are you going to ask her on a date?” I looked up at him for a moment before remembering that she had walked into Maggie’s after talking about being late for work.
“Yeah, I think I will.” I replied before heading the rest of the way to the showers.

***

When I was dressed and ready I headed out of the Garden and started my walk back down to Maggie’s. I ignored the few errands I had to run - which had caused me to park down there in the first place – and walked straight to Maggie’s. I paused outside with my hand on the door handle; I exhaled then opened the door. The store was massive with an upstairs and changing rooms and fitting stands everywhere. Obviously, they tailored the clothes here as well. In all actuality it was a rather high end store that sold suits and dresses for formal occasions – they even sold wedding gowns – and some of the guys bought suits from here but I had never gone in here even though I had thought about it on several occasions. I looked around for someone and started to walk towards the back of the store to a massive oval desk where a larger woman was bustling around looking through some papers. She looked up at me with a huge smile when I approached.

“Well Hello and Welcome to Maggie’s! I’m Carissa, Manager and Owner. What can I help you with today?” she asked excitedly.
“I was actually wondering about one of your employees; Ashley.”
“Oh yes beautiful little Ash! Was she tailoring one of your suits? Is everything okay? No one has ever complained about her work before.” She rushed anxiously.
“Oh! No, no! I was just wondering what her work hours were for today.” I replied nervous that I had almost gotten Ashley in trouble.
“Oh” she sighed in obvious relief, “Good, we have a lot of people ask about her. Everyone wants to come in when she is here. She is our best employee and I love her to bits! Well right now she is on lunch break so if you want to come back later she will be here until six tonight.”
“Thank you Carissa.” I said as I started out the door.
“Anytime hun! I hope to see you around!” she waved after me as I left the store and jumped into my car. I threw my sunglasses on and pulled out the parking space. I took a look at the clock before turning the radio up. It was one o’clock, I had five hours to set my plans.

Ashley’s POV:

When I had gotten back from my lunch break Carissa had told me that a young man had come in inquiring about my times for today so I should be ready to help with a suit at some point today. I sighed because I really hated working with suits because guy’s fits were so weird and you could never base it off of any one basic rule. They were just a mind of their own.

The last five hours of my shift went pretty smoothly and all I had to do was work on this bride who was trying to find “the dress”. That took the entire five hours and I couldn’t wait to just go home and watch some movies with my black lab Nani. When I had punched out and said good night to Carissa I wrapped my jacket tighter around me and headed out the door.
That’s when I saw Tyler.
