The Story Of How We Meet

Matt's POV:
Today is the day my dream will come true. I Matthew Robert Duchene will be drafted into the NHL. I don't know what team I will be drafted to but I hope really hope the Colorado Avalanche drafts me because I grew up loving them.

I woke up at 9 to do all my interviews and by the time I got done with every team it was time for the draft. I was walking in when one girl caught my eye she had a blue tank top with a black coat with black and white pants. She looked breath taking I have to know her name.

I sat down in the stands and now I'm waiting for my name to be called. John Tavares and Victor Hedman have already been called and now the Colorado Avalanche was on the clock and I was hoping that they pick me. Now it was time for the general manager Greg Sherman to say who they will be picking and then I see that girl again sitting at the Avalanche table. "On the behalf of the Colorado Avalanche Organization with the 3rd pick in the 2009 NHL draft we select Matt Duchene of the Brampton Battalion of the Ontario Hockey League.

Omg I can't believe the team that I grew up watching picked me. I hugged my mom and dad and went to the stage and meet my new team and the girl I can't seem to get her out of my mind.

"Hi Matt I'm Joe Sacco and this is my daughter Danielle" He said "Hi nice to finally meet you" I said "I'm sorry I didn't get to meet you in your interview earlier I had to be with my daughter" he said "Its was fine I understand but I am glad to be apart of the Avs family" I said "Well I'm glad we picked you it was all my daughters idea to pick you but don't tell her I told you that she will get mad I told you" He said "its fine my lips are sealed" I said "Well I don't want to keep you waiting congrats on being drafted" he said as he walked away.

I went back to my hotel room to have alone time to think of what just happen. There was a knock on the door and it was my little sister "Hey Matt, mom and dad want to know if your want to go to dinner?" She asked "Yeah hold on let me finish what im doing" I said "okay we will be in the lobby" She said.

I put my shoes on and went to the lobby the first person to coming to me was my mother "Oh Matt i'm so proud if you I knew you were gonna get drafted but never though that the avalanche congrats honey I love you so much" She said " I love you too mom now lets gets some food im hungry" I said
