Chapter 20: Game 1 against the Bruins
*At the Hospital*
Jonathan got Kaners car and pulled it up to the front entrance. Kane and Gina helped get Christian ready to go to the car. Everyone else on the team had already started to head back to Kane's and Jon's house. Once they got Christian into the car Gina and Pat sat in front, and Jon was in back with Christian.
"Hey little man. You tired?" Jon asked
Christian looked up from the window, "Yeah. I wanna sleep, but my chest hurts too much."
"Yeah Christian thats going to bug you for awhile, but I can give you pain pilled every 3-4 hours or so." Pat told his brother.
"Yeah that's fine. When we get home may I please have some food?" Christian asked
"Yeah I'll make you something sweetheart." Gina said as they pulled up to their house.
*At home*
They got a luggage cart and got all of Christians' stuff on it. Gina took all that upstairs, and Jon got a wheelchair to get Christian upstairs. Christian got out of the car and his brother helped him, they put him in the wheel chair and Christian covered his face from all the media people. Once they got up to their room, they opened the door and left the wheelchair outside the door.
"Christian! Hey Shit head! How you feeling?" All the guys yelled as he walked in the door.
Christian walked over to the couch and laid down on Sharp and Shaw, "I'm tired. Thanks for callin' me shit head by the way. Appreciate it y'all."
"Hey language little man." Sharp says to him, "Hey Kaner, you going to the game tonight?"
He looked at his brother.
"You can go. I'll hangout in the locker room all night and just sleep." Christian said reassuring his brother.
"Yeah I am. Thanks buddy." Kaner said, "Well, I think we outta get going to the rink for warm ups." They all agreed and got their stuff and headed to the rink.
*At the Rink*
"Christian! Glad to see your surgery went well! If you need anything let any of us know and we'll get it taken care of for you." Coach Q said as he walked into the locker room to give the guys their pre-game speech.
The guys were all pumped up! The 1st period the Bruins got a goal and the hawks losing 1-0. The 2nd period The Bruins got another goal, and Saad finally got them on the scoreboard. Going into the 3rd Period, one of the Bruins got a 3rd goal, while Bolland and Oduya tied up the game with 3-3. They were forced into 3 OTs' because no one could get a goal. They were all exhausted, but Shaw got the puck and he took it up the ice and got a goal! 4-3 Blackhawks win!
"Let's all go to the bars tonight!" Seabs yells
"Fuck yeah!" Everyone else yells back.
Kaner got off his gear and packed his stuff up and said, "I can't go out tonight guys. Have fun. Drink for me Jonny."
"Patrick, you can go. I'll just go home and sleep. I don't want to be the reason you can't go out and have fun…." Christian said holding his arm
"You're in pain right now, and you just had surgery. I'm not leaving you alone." Pat said, just then Gina came up behind him and offered, "Babe, I can stay at your place with him. I wouldn't mind."
"See. Go." Christian said to his brother.
"Are you sure Gina? I could stay with you." Pat said.
"If you don't go," Gina started to say, then she got closer to Kane and whispered in his ear, "You won't have any fun tomorrow night. Your choice."
Kaner kissed her and said bye to Christian and ran out of the building.
*With the Boys at the Bar*
"AYEE HAWKS ARE IN THE BUILDING!!!!!! CAN WE GET THEM A FREE ROUND ON THE HOUSE!" Some drunk guy yelled
"I like this guys! He's my new drinking buddy!" Shaw said
"Kaner there's a lovely looking lady over in that booth one there, who has been starting at you all night. I think you should go talk with her." Seabs encouraged Kane
"Nah. I got a wonderful women back at my place waiting for me." Kane said
"Let loose Kaner! Just go talk with her, maybe even dance. Nothing that will kill you." Jon started to egg him on too.
Kaner gave in and walked over to the lady with 2 drinks in his hand, "Hello. I'm Patrick Kane, and your name would be?" He said handing over a drink to her.
"Stephanie. Good game tonight. Maybe next game you'll get a goal huh?" She said
"Yeah, I hope so. I just had a lot on my mind tonight." Kane said taking a sip of his drink
"Really like what?" She asked
"Just stuff with my brother and sisters." Pat said
"You have a brother?" She asked
Pat breathed in, "Yeah. Never really introduced him to the media. I was never really close with him so…."
"Well, how about we take a few shots and go dance?" She said taking his hand.
Kaner got up and walked to the bar with her. They took around 7-10 shots. Kaner was gone by his 8th shot. She pulled him onto the dance floor and started grinding on him. One thing lead to another, and he started making out with her. A bunch of people were taking pictures of them making out. Jon and Sharp walked over to Kane and tried to pull him away from her.
"Kaner! We gotta get going. Your brother's at home, with GINA." Sharp said loudly
Kaner kicked him, "Fuck off!" He said between kisses
"Excuse me Miss" Jon said, "I'm going to have to take him with us. He has a little brother who just had surgery, and his brother needs him home. We probably won't see you again, so bye." He said pulling Kane away.
"Dude! WHAT THE FUCK! I was going to take her home with me!" Kane yelled at them drunk and pissed off.
"Yeah. Take her home and have sex with her in the same bed you and your GF, GINA, sleep in!" Sharp said putting him into the cab.
"She wouldn't mind! She could've joined!" Kane said.
"She would've killed you and if she finds out that you had your tongue down some random girls throat you're also dead." Sharp said
Kaners' face went blank, it slowly started to turn more and more white, "Oh my god! I'm going to be dead!" Kane looked sick to his stomach.
Jon shook him, "Dude relax. You just need to tell her what happened. I'll be there with you, and I'll take partial blame because I egged you on."
*At home*
They finally got to Jons' and Kanes' house. Jon helped Kane to their room and walked in quietly.
Jon put Kaner in Jons' own bed and put a gatorade and advil on the bedside table. He then walked into Christians' room and woke him up.
"Hey. Sorry to wake you up, but when did you last have your pain meds?" Jon asked
Christian turned over and said, "A while ago. Like 6 hours."
"Alright I'll be right back." Jon said standing up.
"Can I go with you? I'm kind of hungry." Christian asked sitting up
Jon helped him up out of bed and walked into the kitchen with him.
"It's only 4 am? How come you guys are back this early?" Christian asked
"Your brother was being a dumb ass." Jon said making Christian an omelet
"What'd he do this time?" Little Man asked
Jon shook his head, "You can't say anything. He made out with some puck slut in the bar. If Gina finds out he is dead to her."
"He drink too much?" Christian asked
"Hahaha, what do you think? Here take this." Jon said handing him his pain meds.
"Thanks. Do we have any icepacks?" He asked standing up
"Yeah. Want me to get it for you?" Jon asked looking at him
Christian shook his head no. He grabbed the icepack and walked over to the couch and laid down covering his face with his arm that isn't in the sling.
"You alright?" Jon asked
"No. My shoulder and chest kill so badly right now." He mumbled
Jon walked over to him, "Don't lay on it, that's only going to make it hurt more."
Jon tried to help by moving pillows for him, "Owwwwww. No that hurts." Christian complained
"Sorry! You took your pain meds right?" He asked
Christian nodded his head yes and held the icepack to his shoulder. He ate the omelet Jon made him and eventually fell asleep on the couch and Jon fell asleep on the other couch.
